Why has the decision to align with The Rock been completely brushed over in Cena's last 2 promos? Even Cody is coming across poorly here. Week one he says even though what happened at Elimination Chamber he was excited to go toe to toe with Cena. And then week 2 he once again cooly comes out without any physicality to a man who assaulted and turned on him. None of this is making sense. Is The Rock booked for any shows before Mania as its starting to feel like we need him to come and add more to it.
None of it makes any sense to me either. It took three Raws for Cena to even address his behavior and when he does, no mention of The Rock. If Rock isn’t part of this, why did Cena take his cue from him? Wouldn’t Rock, who wanted to own the soul of the Champion, be against a guy who says he wants to ruin WWE? It makes no sense. Plus, Cody has been booked to look like a putz. Cena beat him down with the sacred watch and Cody does….nothing. They aren’t helping him one bit. I have no idea what The Rock’s schedule is and at this point, I don’t think there is anything that they could do to make me want to see the match at this point. Cody looks weak for not getting physical. Cena’s promos make no sense and he’s just as hokey as a heel as he was as a face. They have made me lose interest in the show. The main event is boring to me.
If Jey is having trouble with A-Town Down, why should I care?
I hate what they are doing to him, I really do. He came out of The Rumble hot as hot could be and they have cooled him down ridiculously. First he is hanging out with the Alpha Academy. Then he has a crisis of confidence. Now he is a klutz. We can blame Rock and Cena for the top match angle but this mess falls directly on Paul Levesque.
Did Vince force his way back into the company? How did the build to Wrestlemania get so bad? Just a few months ago the creative was on fire. Now I’m seriously considering not watching Mania for the first time in life.
I hear you, I really do. I have been saying the same thing for almost two months now. They were on fire coming out of The Royal Rumble and from a booking standpoint other than Randy Orton-Kevin Owens, there is nothing I am excited for on the show. I loved what they did with Punk-Roman-Rollins and McIntyre-Priest on Smackdown, and I am sure the matches will be great, but they weren't built to the way that HHH has built to matches the past two years. We have too many multi-person and thrown together with little build matches. I was so excited for the last two Manias but this year’s? Not even a little bit, and that sucks. It definitely seems like a thrown together Vince show instead of something that has been expertly built too, like 39 and 40 were.
Dave are you going to be at WM41?
If you asked me after The Rumble, I would have said hell yes. Now? Well, if they can get me excited over the next few weeks, yes. If not? I can’t say.
Why did you guys stop doing newsletters?
We stopped a long, long time ago. As the internet took off, we took off with it. We learned that people didn’t want to wait a week or so for the news and views, they wanted it in the moment. Print newsletters became a dinosaur a long, long time ago.
