AEW SEEKING TO MOVE RYAN NEMETH LAWSUIT TO FLORIDA, NEMETH RESPONDS ON TWITTER

By Mike Johnson on 2025-03-25 17:52:00

Ryan Nemeth took to his Twitter account to state "Raise your hand if a literal billionaire sent someone to sue you 4 minutes before you walked onstage for your off-Broadway debut play this weekend."

Nemeth was appearing in an Astoria, Queens, NY production of CRISTI'S CASE CRACKERS- STREET FIGHTING KNOCKOUT at The Hellenic Cultural Center NYC, which seats 172.

Court records indicate that Nemeth was served yesterday a summons on behalf of AEW and its President Tony Khan.  The summons is in response to AEW filing a court case before The U.S. District Court
Middle District of Florida (Jacksonville) on 3/14, attempting to bring the lawsuit that Nemeth filed against AEW, CM Punk and Khan (as well as yet to be named John Does) last month from California to Florida, arguing that Florida arbitration would be the proper placement of the lawsuit due to the language in AEW's contracts.

The 21-page court filing by AEW is not seeking damages from Nemeth and is mostly made up of his original lawsuit, as well as sealed copies of AEW documentation (presumably Nemeth's contracts) as well as an argument that based on the following language, Nemeth's lawsuit should be shifted to Florida:

"…[a]ll disputes between [Nemeth] and AEW, including, without limitation, any dispute relating to any matter arising under this Agreement or any dispute concerning the performance, application or interpretation of any provision of this Agreement, shall be resolved for final, binding, and conclusive arbitration conducted before a single arbitrator in Duval County, Florida and administered by JAMS, Inc. pursuant to its Comprehensive Arbitration Rules and Procedures."

While the summons issued to Nemeth states that he is being sued, technically it's all a response to the lawsuit he filed himself.  AEW is arguing that Nemeth ignored the language in his contract when he filed his lawsuit in California last month.  Nemeth's lawsuit alleges assault, breach of contract, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing and intentional interference with prospective advantage and demands a jury trial.

Beyond his Twitter profile, Nemeth has not officially responded before the court in Florida as of this writing.  ????‍♂️
