HOMICIDE REVEALS REASON FOR RETIREMENT

By Mike Johnson on 2025-03-19 23:18:00

Former Ring of Honor Champion Homicide revealed that he is retiring tomorrow night from in-ring competition due to a cyst on his brain that is causing him vision and speech issues.

On his Facebook page, Homicide wrote:

"Can’t believe I’m saying goodbye—not just to a job, but to my passion, the sport of pro wrestling.

Myself and Bull James vs. Mike Santana and “I Hate Everyone” Afa Jr.

The reason I’m leaving is that I went to my doctor and found out I have a cyst in my brain.
I’ve had it for months, and it’s getting worse.
My vision, speech are bad [because of the] hard hits, getting knocked out, and then hopping on a plane to travel.

March 20, Outlaw Wrestling means a lot.
I want people to party and smile—except for Afa Jr.

I’m a survivor. I always win my battles.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support.

This is not goodbye.
This is see you later.

This not a goodbye

This is I see you later

Homicide will team with Bull James against Afa Jr. and Mike Santana at at Arlo Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NYC for Outlaw Wrestling in a match presented by Victory Pro, personally picked by Homicide himself.

Homicide, 47, was a member of the original Indie Wrestling Hall of Fame Class and for great reason.  The former ROH World Champion was not only one of the top stars of the Northeast before joining TNA as member of LAX, but was also one the most influential talents over the last several decades when it came to training and assisting talents.   As his prominence grew, so did the importance of independent wrestling in the post WCW and ECW world.  In many ways, he was one of the most important personalities for the original Ring of Honor run of events and his title win over Bryan Danielson and his brutal feud with Steve Corino stand out as some of the most emotional moments in the company's history.

Brooklyn being the site of Homicide's final match makes perfect sense as he's always been billed as "Bed-Stuy, Do or Die."

Others set for the Outlaw event are Crowbar, Bear Bronson, Sonny Kiss, Tina San Antonio and more.

Tickets for the 3/20 event are on sale now at www.OutlawNY.EventBrite.com
