All Elite Wrestling’s decision to stage its first pay-per-view (PPV) of the year proved to be a masterstroke, with 11,435 fans packing into the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles to watch the event.
The early PPV numbers report that Revolution 2025 had the highest buys for AEW since All In London last 2024, with early estimates pitched at around the 140,000 mark.
Intriguingly, the event also sparked a surge in activity on several of the sportsbooks featured on BestBettingSites.com as fans wagered on the headline matches.
Social media was also abuzz before, during and after the event as fans debated the key bouts. With that in mind, here are some of the main talking points from Revolution 2025.
Storm and May deliver a ‘Timeless’ classic
‘Timeless’ Toni Storm and Mariah May delivered a match for the ages in their ‘Hollywood Ending’ match. Having the legendary Jim Ross on commentary added to the drama.
This gruesome bloodbath was not for the faint hearted, with Storm and May adopting a no-holds barred approach as they set about each other.
Arguably the only downside to the match was that it was not the headliner. It was a genuine classic and undoubtedly should have topped the bill.
WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray, who knows a thing or two about delivering hardcore wrestling matches, was hugely impressed by both women.
“I just want to say Mariah May and Toni Storm - bravo ladies,” Busted Open Radio. “Bravo to the both of you, that was an incredible effort.
“It was fun to watch, it was above and beyond probably what people expected, your willingness to go out there and put your bodies on the line for the entertainment of the fans.”
“Five stars does not do it justice. From one of your fellow pro wrestlers, from one of the people that you could share a locker room with and be on the road with, two thumbs up from one of the boys.
“To me, Toni Storm and Mariah May - the co-MVPs of Revolution. That match - match of the night.”
Page and MJF ending leaves a sour taste
While the match between Maxwell Jacob Friedman and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page delivered some highlight reel moments, the ending left a lot to be desired.
The pair went back and forth throughout the contest, and the fans in the arena were fully invested in the story they attempted to tell.
However, when MJF gave Page a Tombstone Piledriver onto a chair, that should have been the end of the match to ensure it was believable.
Referee Bryce Remsburg’s slow ten count allowed Page to get back in the ring at the count of nine and he eventually hit the Buckshot Lariat for a pinfall win. Bully Ray was not impressed.
"It was an entertaining show, but I will not be speaking about Hangman Page and MJF," said Bully Ray. "I love MJF to death. I am a big Max fan - both personally and professionally.
“But I refuse to review a match in which a Tombstone Piledriver on the top of a chair is used in a match, only for the guy who took the move to get back in the ring and win the match.
“To me, it is completely uncalled for and it does not fly with me. It goes against everything I believe in in professional wrestling."
Lewis apologises for controversial comments
Queen of the Ring star Damaris Lewis has apologised for the controversial comments she made during a ringside segment at Revolution 2025.
When given the opportunity to speak to the crowd about what she learned while filming the movie, Lewis broke kayfabe by saying wrestling matches are fake.
Co-star Kelli Berglund was also questioned and gave a more measured response, which was well received by fans in the arena and watching via PPV.
Lewis has now backtracked on her comments, saying that she hadn’t intended to upset the fans and took ‘accountability for how it came out’.
“I'm sorry if it came out way wrong,” Lewis said. “During the course of our press tour, I reiterated the statement that you guys carry something in you that says all the time 'I'm gonna win, I'm gonna win, I'm gonna win', and it's been incredibly inspiring to me.
“Having a very short time period to think about an answer in the arena, that's what came out of my mouth. When I heard it back, I too was like, 'that's not what I meant’.
“I've been saying, because it's true, because I am incredibly inspired by this sport, you know you're going to win before you step in the ring, no matter what. It is a sport. It is real.”
