I very much enjoyed the recent Elimination Chamber PLE, so much so that I decided to watch the post game show (something I seldom do). While I don't mind Triple H giving attendance figures, social media milestones, upcoming events and injury updates in this session, I can't understand how he, Rock, and others come to the microphone and essentially tell you - moments right after the event ends mind you - that it was all fake, we are telling stories, & what a ride we are taking you on, etc . I think Jim Cornette hates this too lol. I've seen this frequently before with these post PLE shows in the past. I'm well aware that pro wrestling is scripted, and have most of my life, but I think it robs of many of some of the magic. The WWE is taking talking points that should be part of a "behind the scenes" special months later - which they do very well by the way- and they attach it to the end of these PLEs like it's a school text book with the quiz answers indexed in the back for reference. It's counter productive. Am I too obsessed with kayfabe?
I don’t know if you are too obsessed with kayfabe or not but I do think you made a bad choice. Maybe you didn’t know what the post game shows were but now that you do, if you don’t want the curtain lifted don’t watch them. After all, they are supposed to be press conferences and it’s not out of line to expect talents to be as honest as they can be when they appear on them.
So am I the only one that hates Cody Vs. A heel Cena with Rock in his corner? For so long the fans & wrestlers have complained about part timers coming in to take the spotlight away at Wrestlemania, from those who have been there the whole year. Yet here we have the Rock, a part timer, who's ego coupled with his position, dictates that he needs to be on the show, with his own lame belt, which he doesn't. And we have Cena, future hall of famer, who can do whatever he wants yet with this lame heel turn (sorry but you look like a thinning middle-aged dad at this point) is now another part timer inserting himself in the main event? What happened to guys on their way out, putting over others? How about Cena put over a younger talent at mania? How about Rock just staying out of the way? If Cody is going to lose how about it be to someone they can build for the future? Isn't this all just reminiscent of Vince's booking? Or maybe it's just me.
You forget that John is also balding, badly. No, you aren’t the only one. I feel the exact same way that you do. With that said, if it sparks business I will tip my hat to them, whether I like it or not. If it doesn’t? Well, we will cross that bridge if we come to it.
Does Cena take the belt off Cody? If not, when does he get his 17th championship?
It wouldn’t surprise me one bit. If it’s me, he never gets the 17th but it’s not my call. I don’t think younger, every day working talents should lose to a guy pushing 50, even if it is John Cena. But, I am sure a lot of people disagree with me.
With AEW letting contract expire and working out ways to provide releases to performers, do you think that Shad Kahn has tightened the purse strings a bit?
I can’t say for sure. I hope that it’s just Tony Khan finally starting to realize that is running a business, not partaking in a hobby.
Also, shout out to Mike Johnson for the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness reference in his Elimination Chamber synopsis of the Rock/Cody angle. It would have been more entertaining that what we saw. It would have been great, after Ash took care of the Rock deadite, for him to look into the camera and say "GROOVY".
I have no idea what you just said but consider Mike shouted out!
