Crazy theory. For years, Lex Luger has been a wrestler who deserves a Hall of Fame nomination, but several people pointed that it wouldn't be happening since he was involved in Miss Elizabeth's death. A few weeks ago, during an interview with CVV, he took the responsibility. Days later, WWE announced Luger as the new Hall of Fame inductee. There is any chance the "confession" was a condition given by WWE for his induction? I mean, taking responsibility to avoid bad publicity.
It could have I guess. I can’t say with certainty but I do seem to remember him doing something similar in the past. As for whether someone at WWE asked him to do it with CVV, I have no idea.
Saw your dislike of the Cena turn on the site. I liked it but I compared it to the Mr Perfect WWE return. Where he was older and couldn’t be great as he was (the chess game he cheated at). Cena is older and wanted to go out on a high and sold his soul to get there. He failed at the Rumble. He succeeded at the Chamber but making the deal with the Rock as a failsafe to win the title. He wants the record so bad, believing it’s “best for business” he’ll do anything, which in retrospect was massive foreshadowing. Anyways just was curious on your opinion on my take.
They very well may sell it that way. My main issue with it is that I thought with Vince McMahon gone we were past vaulting older guys over talent that worked hard all year but alas, we are not. And Rock trying to fill many logic holes to get us to this point just makes me care less about the whole scenario.
Will Raw and Smackdown be live on Netflix with shows being overseas or will they be at normals times and taped in advance?
They will be live when they air.
I know you are tired of hearing about this idiot but Brian Least has done it again. He was discussing Lex Luger when he says that DDP has once again exploited someone for attention. Never mind that DDP has given years of his life to help Jake Robert’s Scott Hall Buff Bagwell and now Lex Luger. He’s helped Luger stand up which he hasn’t been able to do in years. That’s not exploiting that’s helping someone who needs it which DDP goes out of his way to do. All Brian Least has done is lie about you and leech off Jim Cornette.
Honestly, I haven’t even thought about that guy since his unrequited love saga from last year and I haven’t missed him one bit. As for what you are telling me he said about DDP, well, all I can say is that there are people that read Dave Meltzer for years and think everything he said (I can’t say reported) was gospel. DDP was a regular target back in those days. Last is, or rather was I guess, a Meltzer acolyte so his beliefs align with whatever Meltzer was spewing at the time and he definitely didn’t have a lot positive to say about DDP. I should also add that Meltzer’s style of delivery is the very reason I got into this business in the first place. And to your point, anyone that discounts all of the good that DDP has done for people is just a different kind of tool. As for what Last has done, you have to add that he pays Jim Cornette very well. You have to give him that.
Can you add some context to the current WWE "ratings" for their shows" 2.8 million Netflix views feels low if that is a worldwide number considering a few years ago 2.8 million viewers was attainable for smackdown on Fox. But maybe i am way off. Is that considered good for a streamer? And for the new A&E shows. Those numbers seem very low but would A&E be happy with them?
At the end of the day what matters is how the company paying for the content feels about the audience and I think it’s clear that A&E is happy since they stayed in the WWE business. I expected higher numbers for Raw on Netflix as well given the massive reach of the platform as well. The show is in the top 10 streamed shows every week but still, I expect more like 10 million views. Only Netflix can tell you if they are happy with they are getting for the price they are paying.
