WWE LAWSUIT NOTES

By Mike Johnson on 2025-02-13 15:13:00

A few quick lawsuit notes based on reader questions:

*Since there seems to be some confusion about this, the Vince McMahon federal grand jury ending has zero ripple effect on the civil lawsuit Janel Grant filed.

*Vince McMahon, WWE and John Lauirinaitis must respond to the amended Grant lawsuit by 2/21.

*There has been no additional movement in the Ring Boys' lawsuit vs. WWE, TKO and Vince and Linda McMahon since it was ruled by The Supreme Court of Maryland that the State’s Child Victims Act, which took effect in 2023 and eliminates time limits for lawsuits filed by victims that who allege they were sexually abused as children.  That means there are no statue of limitations on civil cases brought before the Court.    The ripple effect of that decision means that the lawsuit, brought by five former ring boys who worked for the then-World Wrestling Federation while underage in the 1980s and 1990s, alleging the company and the McMahon failed to protect them from being abused by the late Mel Phillips (who worked as a ring announcer and oversaw the ring crew) will move forward.
