It is Wednesday and AEW Dynamite was recorded last night at the HEB Center in Austin TX. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Nigel McGuinness.
The show starts showing everyone in matches tonight warming up.
We then open with Mac Caster in the ring with his paperwork showing that he has trademarked “The Best Wrestler Alive” and he’s got an open challenge. He has run his partners Billy Gunn and Anthony Bowens out of the company. It’s now time for the challenge.
Adam Page vs Max Caster
Caster hides in the crowd as Page comes to the ring. Page goes into the crowd and chases him to the ring. Caster attacks Page when he gets in the ring. Caster gets a hurricanrana from the top, but Page pops up as Caster is bragging to the hard camera. Page gets a sliding lariat and then a buckshot lariat for the pin and the in.
Winner: Adam Page
Next up is a hype video. Ricochet says he is moving on from Swerve Strickland, and Swerve is going to end this while Prince Nana tells him he is taking everything too personally.
Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Pac, and Wheeler Yuta) AEW Trios Champions vs Undisputed Kingdom (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly)
They start with everyone brawling outside the ring and we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Kyle is beating down Yuta, and Kyle is dragged back to the Death Riders corner where they work him over with quick tags. Kyle is able to tag in Strong after getting a big kick on Pac when Pac comes off the ropes. Strong runs wild and then covers Pac after slamming Yuta on him. Cole is tagged in and then Kyle tags in and they triple team Pac and cover for two, broken up by Claudio. Yuta knocks Kyle off the top to the floor and Claudio gets a backdrop on Strong and Strong becomes the babyface in peril.
When they come back from the next break, Strong is able to get a small package on Yuta for two. Yuta nails a drop-kick for two. Strong gets a clothesline off the ropes and crawls to tag in Cole for him to clean house. Cole ends the sequence with a neck breaker on Yuta for two. Pac tags in and leaps into a super kick from Cole.
The tag team siren goes off and everyone is in the ring. Yuta is hit with the hi lo and Claudio and Pac break it up. Kyle has an ankle lock on Yuta as the others fight around the ring. Claudio gets in the ring with a chair and Cole super kicks him down. Pac is taken out by Strong, and as the ref is dealing with that, Yuta gets a low blow on Kyle for the pin and the win.
Winners and still Trios Champions: The Death Riders
The Death Riders start to go for a post match beat down, but Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard and Angelo Parker rush to the ring for the save and the Death Riders take off through the crowd.
In the back, Cope and Jay White are able to take the briefcase from Mox and run off with it.
MJF is with Renee Paquette, and he says Texas isn’t a real state and Dustin Rhodes isn’t a real man. He tells Dustin to pray for the devil and as he is talking, Page shows and tells him to leave. MJF asks if he’s got a crush on him. MJF tells Page doesn’t have the stomach for what he is pretending to be and mocks him and says he will do what Page can’t do, become a two time world champion.
Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Hook vs The Already In The Ring Jon Cruz, Aaron Solo and Rosario Grillo
Joe’s team charges into their opponents and it’s not long before everyone is brawling on the floor. Shibata and Joe beat down Grillo and then Cruz tries to attack Joe from behind. Joe hits the muscle buster and it’s all over for him.
Winners: Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Hook
Joe grabs a mic and introduces his partners as his brothers. They say that their only answer is violence They always have a problem and they always beat your ass to solve it. They will hunt you down and you will be caught lacking. He then says if the Patriarchy would have just taken their beating it would be over, but since they have to hunt them down, next week on Dynamite will be a match between them and the Patriarchy.
Renee is with Chris Jericho and he asks if Renee is mocking him. He would have paid anything to get rid of Bandido, but tonight he will collect the bounty on Bandido and he challenges Bandido to a showdown.
Willow Nightingale is with Renee and Marina Shaifr attacks her. Mox then tells Cope he is a dead man walking.
Chris Jericho vs Bandido
They go face to face, the light dim and a bell tolls. They go back to back and walk to their corners. Bryan Keith grabs Bandido’s foot and trips him and he and Jericho start to beat down Bandido. The Outrunners come to the ring for the save, and as they are fighting, Big Bill comes to the ring with a wanted Poster for Bandido. As Bill grabs Bandido for a chokeslam, Powerhouse Hobbs shows up and they throw hands. Hobbs gets a spine buster on Bill.
Winner: I don’t even know if that was an actual match, but Powerhouse Hobbs won.
In the back, Jay White and Cope have the briefcase and they say if he wants it back, he needs to meet them in the ring at the end of the night.
Renee is with Dustin and he hypes up the crowd and says he will show MJF why he is the last of his kind.
MJF vs Dustin Rhodes
Dustin gets huge cheers as he comes to the ring. Dustin gets a power slam and a series of blows and MJF bails from the ring. Custom follows him, slams his head into the apron and rolls him into the ring. MJF scurries to the opposite side of the ring and maps Dustin’s arm on the top rope.
MJF tries for the salt of the Earth arm bar, but Dustin is able to get to his feet. Dustin runs the ropes and goes for a sunset flip, but MJF is able to fight it off and snaps Dustin’s arm again. MJF goes back to work on Dustin’s arm. MJF runs the ropes and then just walks over Dustin to humiliate him. Dustin starts throwing hands and MJF stops him with an eye poke. \\MJF chokes Dustin in the corner and then gets a series of blows and does the Golddust pose, and Dustin is able to get a power bomb.
Dustin gets a drop-down slap, a Manhattan drop and a big boot. Dustin is able to get ten in the corner on MJF with the last one being a hip thrust. Dustin hits a bulldog. MJF is able to grab an arm bar and then a stomp from Dustin’s arm from the top. MJF gets the Salt of the Earth and Dustin rolls it into a two count. MJF tries for a crossroads, but Dustin reverses it and gets the move himself for two.
MJF gets an inside cradle for two and Dustin reverses it for two. MJF is able to get a pile driver for two. Both men struggle to get up, and the crowd is LOUD. MJF leaves the ring and grabs a chair. He wraps it around Dustin’s arm and the ref takes the chair and tosses it. MJF, who was on the top, is knocked down by Dustin, who hits the Shattered Dreams followed by the Final Reckoning for two.
MJF gets an arm bar takedown and then hits a Final Reckoning of his own for two and immediately goes into the Salt of the Earth. Dustin crawls to the ropes, but MJF drags him back and locks on the crossface and Dustin passes out.
Winner: MJF
MJF runs off the ref and i s about to beat down Dustin, but Adam Page comes to the ring and they go face to face. MJF slowly backs away and puts his hands up before attacking Page. Security swarms the ring for the pull apart. They fight their way free and fight through the crowd with Security behind them trying to pull them apart again. They are fighting on the balcony as security finally is able to pull them apart.
MJF grabs a mic and says Adam Page is a gutless coward who won’t come out to fight him.
MJF is wrong because Page is able to get away from security and attacks MJF again. They are pulled apart AGAIN.
Megan Bayne vs Maya World who doesn’t get a screen graphic
And Megan beats her with a series of power moves, ending with an F5.
Winner: Megan Bayne
Kris Statlander comes to the ring for her match, walking past Bayne.
Kris Statlander vs Penelope Ford
They lock up and Kris drives Ford to the corner and then gets a side headlock takeover. They work to their feet and trade arm bars. Kris gets another side headlock takeover and Ford turns it into a leg scissors. They break, and trade waistlocks and arm bars. Ford licks Kris’s face and Kris elbows her way out and gets a snap mare for two.
Kris whips Ford to the corner and throws hands. Ford goes for another lick, and Kris grabs her lower jaw. Ford slaps her way free and Kris pulls her down by her hair. Kris gets a roll through drop-kick for two. Kris gets a stalling vertical suplex and we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, they are throwing hands in the middle of the ring and Kris gets a pair of lariats on Ford and then a power slam for two. Kris gets a running uppercut, but Ford gets a running boot and a neck breaker for two. Ford goes to the top and Kris grabs her and goes for a German suplex, and Ford lands on her feet and gets a stunner. Kris gets a German suplex for two.
Ford is able to reverse a fireman’s carry into a poisonrana, but misses the handspring back elbow. Kris gets a lariat and hits Wednesday Night Fever for the pin and the win.
Winner: Kris Statlander
Bayne comes back out and Kris holds the ropes for her. Ford nails Kris from behind and Bayne is able to hit the F5 on Kris on the floor.
We then get the Mercedes Mone puppet in a video and Harley Cameron has a song about her match with Mone at Grand Slam. Harley then cuts a promo about Mone, and thanks Mone for calling her a loser because it pushed her to work harder and learn more.
The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin) The AEW Tag Team Champions w/ MVP vs The Gunns (Austin and Colton Gunn)
Colton and Bobby start off and after they go to the corner, they run the ropes and Bobby is finally able to get a big shoulder tackle knocking Colton to his own corner. Austin tags in and the crowd is cheering the Gunns. Bobby catches Austin when he tries to go over Bobby in the corner, and Lashley tosses him off the top. He then goes to the floor and tosses Austin over the barricade into the crowd. Austin returns to the ring as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Lashley slams Austin for two. Bobby tags in Benjamin and Austin dodges a charge from Bobby, who goes out of the ring and when Austin dives for the tag, Bobby pulls Colton off the apron. Bobby and Benjamin pick up and whip Austin into their corner. Austin is able to leap over both of them and tags in Colton, who runs wild.
Benjamin is able to cut him off with an ankle lock, but this sounds the tag team siren and all four men are in the ring. Austin gets a Famouser on Benjamin and Colton covers for two. Austin is tagged in and it’s back to all four men in the ring. Benjamin gets a big kick and then starts the German suplexes. Bobby gets a big spike choke slam and Bobby hits a spear. Benjamin covers for the pin and the win.
Winners and still AEW Tag Team Champions: The Hurt Syndicate
Lance Archer and Brian Cage come out from the back to applaud. MVP holds Bobby mack.
We get a promo from Mariah May in the back talking about hits hard on her “Toni Storm isn’t real” and says she really does love Toni because at Grand Slam, it will be a mercy killing.
Cope and Jay White have a briefcase and are on their way to the ring. Cope says the title belt has been hidden away for too long and he asks if the crowd wants to see it. Cope goes under the ring and pulls out Spike, his two by four with nails coming out of it. Cope says if Mox doesn't accept his challenge for a title match at Revolution, he will smash the briefcase.
Mox and Shafir come out of the crowd and he says Cope doesn't know jack about the championship. He is its protector and he will show how much of a nice guy he is, he will break Cope’s neck at Revolution and Cope has his title shot.
Cope says he’s gonna show how much he cares about the championship and starts beating the case. Cope and White fight off the Death Riders for a bit, but Shafir grabs the briefcase and Mox attacks Cope from behind. After White gets Claudio with the Blade Runner, Mox grabs Spike, allowing Cope to hit him with the spear. White says at Grand Slam they will put the Death Riders in the ground.
