DETAILED ROH SPOILERS FROM TEXAS

By Edwardo Alvarez on 2025-02-10 08:35:00

I attended the AEW Collision taping in Rosenberg, Texas (right outside Houston) on Saturday.  I know the promotion gets a lot of flack for well, everything these days, but this was a fun taping.  The intimacy of the venue just made the energy for the night and the actual 2 hour Saturday broadcast on TNT was probably one of the best episodes ever in the series history.

I know Cory Strode broke down the TV show, here are the Ring of Honor results and other live observations:

*Bobby Cruise was the ring announcer.  He pointed out they were in Texas, the home of AEW Women's Champion Athena, so they were going to kick off with some women's Ring of Honor matches.

*Abadon pinned Rachael Ellering with a DDT.  Abadon got a "Ooooh" reaction when her music played.  Ellering played a likable babyface.  Match was solid.

*Billie Starkz with Athena defeated Hyan.  The story of the entrance was that Athena has Starkz under her power but Starkz wants out.  It was all body language.  Hyan looked good in the ring early.  Starkz played a subtle heel, getting frustrated with the referee.  Hyan's comebacks were good.  Starkz pinned her with an Electric Chair into a Driver.

After Collision, Bobby Cruise was giving Tony Schiavone the business, joking he is usually gone by the time ROH is filming.  He then asked everyone to cheer for "the legend."

They filmed the TV opening.

*Wheeler Yuta defeated Fuego Del Sol.  There was a Fuego chant at the bell.  Wheeler refused to shake his hand and slapped him instead, then mocked him with a Fuego chant.  Fuego had some nice flourishes of offense but it was mostly Yuta punishing him and even used a Texas Deathlock style submission, forcing Sol to get to the ropes.  Yuta scored the pin with the running high knee.  No other Death Riders appear.  Yuta was choked out with a chain after.  Yuta exited through the crowd.  Nice chant for Fuego after.  Bobby Cruise said on the mic he had a "valiant effort."

*The Von Erichs returned, teaming with The Outrunners & Top Flight to beat "The Premier Athletes" - Ariya Daivari, Mark Sterling & Tony Nese and "The Frat House" -  Preston Vance, Griff Garrison and Jacked Jameson, Preston Vance.  Frat House's theme is so bad it's amazing.  Leila Grey was with Top Flight and TV does not do her beauty justice.  Huge pop for The Outrunners.  Von Erichs got nice pop but not as big as Outrunners.  Still, a lovely response since they are repping us here in the Lone Star State.  The Premier Athletes do a great job getting the live crowd into the proceedings with their antics.  Mark Sterling, doing his best Jim Cornette, even tagged in and hit some punches while the babyfaces were held down.  The crowd was super into it, trying to rally The Outrunners as they were beaten down.    The heels attacked the babyfaces in their corner and everyone battled on the floor.  This set up Vance spearing one of the Outrunners out to the floor, taking everyone down.   It ended up with the Outrunners pinning Sterling.  Nowhere near as much Von Erichs as you'd have assumed but a really fun segment.

*ROH  TV Champion Komander with Alex Abrahantes defeated Lee Johnson with EJ Nduka.  Nduka is a big man.  Like, I'd run if I saw him in an alley big.  Komander got a really big reaction.  Some good back and forth wrestling here early on.    I'll give Abrahantes his props.  He really tries to get the audience into the matches.  Komander hit a top rope sunset flip for a two count.  EJ got on the apron to distract the champ and slow his momentum.  This allowed Johnson to drill him from behind.  Johnson was in control for a long time and they battled to the outside of the canvas.  Johnson went to do a tombstone or an over the shoulder slam style move but Komander escaped and pulled him up.  They fought over a suplex with Komander landing on his feet in the ring and unloading with knee strikes to the mid-section.  Lots of near falls and a truly competitive match.  Johnson hit a superplex and they rolled out to the floor, where Johnson suplexed him.  Komander was going to come off the top later on, so Nduka pulled Johnson to the floor.  Instead, Komander hit a dive on them both.    Komander scored the pin walking the top rope into a shooting star press.  Really good!

*The Gates of Agony  defeated Fly Def (Warren J & Zack Zilla).  They murdered those kids!

*CMLL Stars Barbaro Cavernario & Hechicero & Soberano Jr. defeated CMLL star Dark Panther & Fuego Del Sol & Sammy Guevara defeated   Mansoor and Mace were watching from the aisle, scouting.  Lots of fun lucha early on.  Panther hit a tope on Carvenariro.  Guerrera hit several dives.  Mace and Mansoor attacked Sammy while the referee was distracted.  That set up a series of events where Fuego was pinned.    Mansoor was laid out after the match.

Tony Khan came out and asked everyone to get home safe.

Guevara spent a lot of time signing and taking pictures at ringside.
