AEW COLLISION REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2025-02-01 22:13:00

No promos to start this week, just right into the action. And because the Royal Rumble is ongoing, I’m pretty sure I’m one of the few watching AEW tonight, so I’ll recap if for you.

Hook and Samoa Joe vs Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian w/Christian Cage and Mother Wayne

Hook and Nick lock up and Nick forces them to the corner. They lock up again and go to side headlock and Hook gets the takedown. They quickly lock up and Nick gets a shoulder tackle off the ropes. Hook gets a suplex and tags in Joe. Nick scrambles to his corner and tags in Kip. They lock up and Joe forces them to the corner and Kip gets a cheap shot and then a series of kicks and strikes.  Kip goes for a leap off the top and Joe just walks away.

Joe gets a sit out senton and tags in Hook. The double team Kip in the corner and Hook gets a two count. Hoke is kicked by Nick in the back after Kip whips him into the ropes. Hook lays in strikes on Kip and when he goes to the ropes, Nick trips him. Kip is able to get a suplex for two, and he yells at the ref for being out of position. Hook is then the babyface in peril and Hook is worked over with quick tags.

Hook is finally able to get a suplex on Nick and they both crawl for the tag. They both get the tag and Joe tosses Nick out of the ring before beating down Kip. Joe hits a muscle buster on Kip for the pin  and the win.

Winners: Hook and Samoa Joe

Of course, there is a post match beat down. Cage stands tall in the ring holding aloft his title opportunity.

Cope has a promo backstage and says that Jon Moxley doesn’t have a plan or an idea. He says Mox is the problem and he is a malcontent. He says Mox has always been complaining and he’s the one who is always there. He talks about how much he respected the legends of the past. He says his generation worked hard for his generation to have it better. Cope says that Mox hiding the title away is going to change. He then challenges Mox for the title at Revolution.

Mortos vs The Already In The Ring Adam Priest

Mortos wins with Destination Hellhole, which is kind of a pile driver/power bomb

Winner: Mortos

Max Caster then comes to the ring with his new entrance music. He says Mortos did a great job but he doesn’t stand a chance against The Best Wrestler Alive, and while he’s not here to fight Mortos, he is going to take on whoever comes out for the Open Challenge.

Bad news for Max as Rush answers the challenge.

Max Caster vs Rush w/Dralistico

Max tries to talk sense to Rush and holds up the La Faccion Ingobernables sign. Rush answers by hitting a running forearm and then stomps him down in the corner. Rush gets the Bull’s horns for the pin and the win.

Winner: Rush

Rush grabs a mic and He chews out Mortos and then says when you mess with the bull, you get the horns.

Lexi is with the Outrunners who give a catchphrase filled promo.  Oh yeah!

Chris Jericho and Bryan Keith w/Big Bill vs The Outrunners (Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd)

Jericho and Truth start off the match and Jericho hits a thumb to the eye instead of locking up. Jericho lays in chops in the corner. Truth reverses and lays in his chops until Jericho gets another thumb to the eye. Jericho runs into a big boot in the corner and Truth gets a running clothesline. Turbo gets the blind tag and then gets an atomic drop on Jericho and Bryan comes in to get one as well, running into Jericho. They set for a double hip toss on Jericho, but when Bryan charges at them, they use Jericho to give him a back body drop and then the hip toss of Jericho.

The Outrunners follow Jericho and Bryan to the floor where Bill gets a big boot on Truth as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Truth gets a hot tag to Turbo, who runs wild. It’s then time for the body slams! The Outrunners set for the double bicep drop and Bryan attacks Truth and takes him to the floor. Jericho gets the Walls on Turbo. Turbo is able to force a turn and kicks Jericho off. All four men are fighting in the ring, and Jericho gets a “Hi Guys” when he gets a flying head scissors. However, the Outrunners get Body Slams and then the double bicep drop. They go for Total Recall, but Bill pulls Truth out of the ring and Bryan is able to get a surprise rollup for the pin and the win.

Winners: Chris Jericho and Bryan Keith

Bill hits the ring and beats down the Outrunners after the match. Bryan grabs a table from under the ring and it is set up in the ring by Jericho, Bryan, and Bill. Bill sets for a double chokeslam through the table…

But Bandido returns and takes out Bill and then hits a spinning tornado off the top onto Jericho. Bandido then slams Bryan through the table, holding him up with one arm at one point.

We then get a hype video for a match between Mark Briscoe and Kyle Fletcher next week.

Lexi is in the back with Kazuchika Okada and Buddy Murphy shows up and laughs at him, saying he’s scared to defend the title. Okada laughs at him and says he doesn’t deserve it. Buddy then says that Okada is still a bitch.  He leaves and Okada has to let that revelation sink in as he says “I’m a bitch?”

Taya Valkyrie vs Harley Cameron

Taya gets a drop-kick and then stomps down Harley in the corner. Taya gets a cover for one. Taya goes back to beating up Harley in the corner. Harley is able to get a casadora and then a big kick in the corner. Harley gets an insigiri for two.  Taya whips Harley to the corner, but Harley gets an elbow and tries for a tiger feint kick, but Taya blocks it and gets a kick to the back of the neck and then dives under Harley and whips her to the mat as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Harley gets a running kick for two. Harley puts Taya on the top turnbuckle and joins her there. Taya carries her out of the corner for a power bomb for two. Harley escapes a double underhook for a destroyer for two. The crowd chants Feel The Wrath as she climbs to the top. Harley misses a senton and Taya gets a slam for two, and Harley reverses the pin for a surprise rollup for the pin and the win.

Getting her first win: Harley Cameron

Renee does a formal sit down with Ricochet and he says fans have been telling him for the last five years he belongs in AEW. He believed it as well and he watched as people he’d worked with do amazing things. He then knew AEW was the place to be, but the fans turned on him. He complains about how he has been treated and how Swerve Strickland thought it was cute to join with those terrible fans. He says he went after Swerve with scissors because of how he thought it was OK to mock him.

Swerve shows and tells Renee he has got this. He says they will never see eye to eye going all the way back. He says he told AEW not to bring Ricochet here because AEW makes it, so people learn the truth about someone. When they meet on February 5th, it will be a fight. Ricochet says Swerve is right, he never cared about the fans and they knew it. He then says since Adam Page smashed his grill, he hasn’t felt a threat from him. Swerve pulls him to his feet and says when they meet, he will know the truth.

Timeless Toni Storm is in the arena in the spotlight. She talks about how she was playing the role of Toni Storm, the young girl in the red shorts. They all watched her metamorphosis, but she didn’t do it for the fans, she did it for herself. When Mariah May broke her heart and took everything, she was embarrassed and ashamed, she had to run away from herself.

The only way out was through the first and to rebuild herself and now she has seen everything she needs to see. She then curses out May and Mariah May’s time is over.

We then get a Christopher Daniels promo reel.

Renee is with Harley Cameron at Mercedes Mone’s dressing room…and Harley has a Mone puppet that challenges Harley to a match at Grand Slam. The puppet then says Harley can have access to the locker room.  Then Mone shows up and joins in the CEO dance. Mone says that she is so cute, but she’s still a loser. And losers don’t get to ride the money train and tell her to leave.

Daniel Garcia (TNT Champion) vs Lee Moriarty vs Kyle O'Reilly

Matt Menard joins commentary.

All three trade arm bars and then all go for waistlocks. They then all go for quick pins and get one counts. They then all try for more complex pins and cross arm breakers. Garcia gets in kicks on his opponents and Lee is kicked from the ring by Kyle. Kyle and Garcia trade blows. Lee pulls Kyle from the ring and then dumps Garcia to the floor and dives onto them as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Lee gets a running crossbody on Garcia for two and Lee gets a wrist lock and Kyle comes in and takes down Lee which takes down Garcia. Kyle grabs quick pins. Lee is first to his feet, and starts kicking the heads of Kyle and Garcia. They get to their feet and double team Lee. Lee rolls to the floor and Kyle and Garcia throw hands. Garcia gets a backdrop driver and Kyle returns the favor. Lee returns to the ring and they all kick each other down.

This three man match is different in that we get a lot of mirroring moves with all three men. Garcia is up first and puts Lee in the corner and attacks. Kyle tries to stop him and Garcia puts him in the corner too and gets 10 in the corner followed by a double clothesline. Garcia gets a swinging neckbreaker on Kyle for two, broken up by Lee, who gets a two count on Garcia.

Garcia escapes a suplex and puts on a Dragon Tamer on Lee. Kyle then puts on an arm bar into a triangle choke. He then grabs an ankle of Lee who kicks his way free. Lee and Kyle trade kicks and when Kyle is kicked out of the ring. Garcia goes for a rollup and when Lee kicks out, Garcia goes to the ropes where Shane Taylor punches him in the head. The ref does see it, and Lee gets the border city stretch on him. Taylor stops Kyle from getting in the ring.  Garcia escapes the hold and gets a jack knife cover on Lee for the pin and the win.

Winner and still AEW TNT Champion: Daniel Garcia

I am not a fan of three-way matches, but this one was excellent.

Shane Taylor and The Infantry surround the ring, so Matt Menard and Angelo Parker get into the ring. Adam Cole and Roderick Strong hit the right to drive off Shane Taylor Promotions.  Next week, these teams have a three 3 way trios match.

We then get a video recapping the feud between Thunder Rosa and Penelope Ford

Next is another video for the return of Hologram showing off his glowing hand.

Megan Bayne vs the Already In The Ring Hyena Hera

Megan is billed as coming from Mount Olympus. Hyena’s last name is Hera who is also a Greek Goddess.

It doesn’t help her in this quick enhancement match. Megan wins with an F5 for the pin and the win.  I’m sure they will give that finisher a different name.

Winner: Megan Bayne

Lio Rush answers Darius Martin’s challenge and says they have better things to do and when they come back, he MAY take him off on that challenge.

We then get a hype video for Mariah May vs Queen Aminata on Dynamite.

Lexi is with Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander and Kris asks for forgiveness.  Willow says she’s not there yet and needs to work on herself. Kris shows a bracelet that says “Just so you know, this was never broken.”

Wheeler Yuta and Jon Moxley vs FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) - A Mid-South Street Fight

FTR ambushes Yuta and Mox and as they brawl, Dax and Mox brawl in the crowd and Cash works over Yuta in the ring. Cash tries to put a ladder in the ring, and Yuta drop-kicks the ladder into Cash. As Dax is biting the head of Mox, Yuta is using a chair on Cash and then rams him into the ringpost.

Yuta then slams Cash on the ladder and Mox and Dax come to the ringside area where Mox whips Dax into the steel steps. Mox beats Dax as he sits in a chair and covers for two when he goes to the floor. Mox works over Dax in the ring with a chair and then suplexes him onto the chair. Mox goes for plunder and Yuta goes to work with the chair on Dax. Mox grabs a pair of pliers and Cash gets in the ring and Cash tosses Yuta to the floor and stomps down Mox.

Cash beats down Yuta on the floor and in the ring Mox grabs Dax and goes after him with the pliers, grabbing Dax’s nose as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Mox gets in the ring with a bag and dumps thumbtacks. FTR is beaten down and Mox picks up Cash. Cash whips Mox into the ropes and gets a spinebuster on Mox into the tacks. Cash and Yuta fight in the ropes. Yuta is knocked to the floor and Cash leaps onto him. Mox then hits a Death Rider on cash on the ramp.

Marina Shafir is now at ringside and tables are pulled out from under the ring. Yuta works over Dax in the ring as the table is set up in the corner. Mox and Yuta try to suplex Dax into the ring and Dax is able to fight his way free and Mox is knocked to the floor. Dax pinwheels blows on Yuta in the corner. Dax hits a brain buster on Yuta., Mox gets in the ring with a ring hook and Dax takes it away and uses it on Mox’s swimsuit area. Shafir gets in the ring and goes for a rear naked choke on Dax, and Back then into and then through the table in the corner.

Mox picks up Dax and Dax reverses him into a back body drop for two. Mox then gets a pile driver on Dax into the chair. Dax grabs Mox for a sharpshooter. Claudio runs to the ring to break it up and Dax reverses the attack into a back body drop. Mox is able to get a cutter and then a curb stomp onto the chair for two, broken up by Cash. Yuta and Claudio stomp down Cash and Mox rolls Dax out of the ring. Mox wraps the chair around Cash’s neck. Jay White and Cope hit the ring for the save and the brawl is going on all around ringside. FTR hit an assisted spike driver through the announcer’s table on Yuta for the pin and the win.

Winners: FTR

The crawl continues, however. White gets a Blade Runner on Yuta and Mox is all alone in the middle of the ring. Mox takes a Shatter Machine, a spear, and White grabs a chair. He hands it to Cope for a Con-Chair-To and Claudio pulls Mox out of the ring.
