RAW ON NETFLIX, THE KHAN WAY, MAKING USE OF TALENTS THAT AREN’T IN YOUR PLANS AND MORE

Thoughts on the Toni Storm storyline?  I couldn’t believe what I saw.  And what was the significance of her stripping down to her underwear?

I think it was on par with Tony Khan’s other booking and by that I mean it was terrible.  Why she stripped to her underwear?  Beats me.  Then again, she did it and said she would rip off May’s breasts so I won’t try to make any sense of it.  I am just glad that WWE sold to TKO and I don’t have to count on AEW to provide a quality product anymore.  If all we were stuck with was bad Vince booking and the dreck Tony Khan is putting out, I would be considering retirement.

After seeing the debacle that led to The Jacksonville Jaguars getting their new coach and firing the General Manager, is it so hard to believe that Tony Khan runs AEW the way that he does?

You nailed it, for sure.  They both have a serious Keystone Kops vibe to them.

I want to preface my question with I am WWE guy, but I can’t figure out what to think of the RAW numbers on Netflix. 3,000,000 plus viewers sounds good and sounds like an improvement, but if its global viewers it sounds a lot less impressive. What are you hearing about how Netflix feels about the numbers RAW is doing? How do they line up with what you expected them to do?

I don’t have any connections at Netflix so I can’t say how they feel about the numbers.  I also expected a higher number given that Netflix has over 300M subscribers but the flip side is that Raw has been in the top 10 of programs every week and it could be people are watching after the weekly period ends.  If part of Netflix’s strategy is to have more live programming then WWE brings them a lot of value.  Time will tell how they feel about it.

It's obvious TK's biggest fear is high-priced talent like Ricky Starks, Miro, and Rey Fenix going to WWE and making a big splash. I understand you can't and shouldn't give every unhappy talent a release, because it undermines the point of contracts. However, it's a little ridiculous to hold someone like Starks - who is not injured - on the bench for almost a year sucking up money to do very little. Why not just use departing talent to put over the remaining talent, as has been done in wrestling forever? At least AEW stars would benefit from wins over established talent!

I have said the same thing many times. If Tony is going to let a talent go, get something out of him/her by having the talent put over talent that is staying before they leave. If he has no interest in using them, let them go already. Keeping them on the bench will just delay the inevitable, them going to WWE and being far more important than they ever were under Tony poor leadership and booking.

Is TK's biggest wrestling nightmare CM Punk winning the 2025 Royal Rumble and main eventing WM41 against Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship? How do you think TK would react to that online? Would TK make some doofus comment like, "So proud of AEW main eventing Wrestlemania, watch Collision tonight at 10pm?#greatgreatgreat"

I am writing this Saturday morning, before The Rumble, but boy if that happened it will be awesome.  First, I want Punk to win The Rumble and get the Mania main event but also what a hoot it would be if two talents that Tony should have made pillars of his company end up headlining the biggest show of the year. That would be the final indictment on his incompetence as a booker and promoter. If it happens I hope he keeps his mouth shut and doesn’t make a fool out of himself.
