This week’s LIVE episode starts off with a recap of Genesis - Tessa Blanchard’s huge return win over Jordynne Grace, Mike Santana forcing Josh Alexander to quit - both the match and TNA, The Hardys retaining the TNA World Tag Team Championships, Fraxiom’s appearance, Masha Slamovich retaining the TNA Knockouts World Title, Cora Jade’s appearance, and Joe Hendry winning the TNA World Title.

Earlier today, Gia Miller talks to Santino Marella outside. Santino talks about the buzz surrounding the show tonight and teases some surprises. A car pulls up and Gia wonders if the person inside is one of the surprises.

The new era of TNA starts LIVE in San Antonio, Texas with the NEW TNA World Champion, Joe Hendry, making his way to the ring. Hendry gets a “You deserve it!” chant. He thanks the fans and says that it was their support that got him to the title. That was then, though. Now - he’s here to talk about the title reign. He wants to be a fighting champion and put the title on the line against anyone from anywhere.

Santino Marella’s music hits and he makes his way to the top of the ramp. He congratulates Joe Hendry. He appreciates Hendry wanting to be a fighting champion inside and outside of TNA. Santino has someone that has taken Hendry up on his offer. Tonight, in the main event, it will be Joe Hendry vs…Matt Cardona! Matt Cardona comes to the top of the ramp. He and Hendry stare each other down from a distance.

The ending of the I Quit Match between Mike Santana vs. Josh Alexander from Genesis is shown. The Digital Exclusive between Alexander and Eric Young is shown. Young wants to know why Alexander is going to just quit after all these years.

Back in the present, Eric Young is backstage with Steve Maclin. Maclin wants to know why Young cares about Alexander. Young says that he sees something in Alexander. He’s in a dark place. Maclin doesn’t get it - Alexander has been a thorn in their and TNA’s side so much. No one owes Alexander anything. Young wants to pull Alexander back from his dark place, though.

Josh Alexander interrupts. He’s not there to make excuses - he just wants to thank them for everything over the years. He shakes Young’s hand. He tries to shake Maclin’s hand, but Maclin rebukes the offer of the handshake.

Gia Miller is outside of Nic Nemeth’s locker room. She knocks on the door and Ryan Nemeth comes out. He has a lot to say, but is cut off by Nic Nemeth coming out. Nic says that he’ll address the TNA fans next week.

TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich & TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions Spitfire vs Rosemary & Ash and Heather By Elegance

Before the match, The Personal Concierge stomps on a cowboy hat to let the San Antonio crowd know what he thinks of them. He then provides the introduction for Ash and Heather by Elegance.

Ash and Jody Threat start things off. Ash gives Threat some light shoves and a slap. Threat returns with a right hand and a series of short clotheslines in the corner. Threat hits Ash with an overhead throw for a two count. Dani Luna tags in and she slams Ash down. She then slams Threat on top of Ash and gets a two count. Heather tags in. Heather wants nothing to do with Luna and tags in Rosemary when she’s not looking. Rosemary isn’t thrilled with the Elegances, but goes after Luna.

Luna tackles down Rosemary. Rosemary briefly fights back, but Threat tags in and Spitfire double team Rosemary and get a two count. Rosemary grabs Threat’s throat and pushes her back to her corner. She tags in Heather, but starts to choke Heather along with Threat. Ash breaks it up and reminds Rosemary that they are teammates. Ash tags in.

Ash sends Threat into the ropes. Heather gets in a cheap shot and Ash gets a two count. Rosemary tags back in and rains down punches on Threat. Rosemary hits an Exploder for a two count. Ash tags back in and hits a suplex for a two count. Ash knocks Luna off of the apron. She goes after Masha Slamovich, but Slamovich ducks. Threat hits Ash with double knees and tags in Slamovich.

Slamovich comes in hot and takes down Ash and Rosemary. She drives Ash down and gets a two count. She goes for Requiem on Ash, but Rosemary breaks it up. Luna takes down Rosemary. Ash drops Luna. Threat takes out Ash. Heather drops Threat. Slamovich disposes of Heather. Luna tags in and goes after Ash. Luna hits three snap German Suplexes on Ash.

Cora Jade’s music hits. She makes her way to ringside and gives Slamovich a folder. Inside of it is a picture of Slamovich with an X over it, just like the pictures Slamovich has done in the past with her Kill Room. With Slamovich and Luna distracted, Ash hits Luna from behind and rolls her up for the win!

Winners: Ash and Heather by Elegance and Rosemary

 

 

Josh Alexander makes his way to the ring, as he is still contractually obligated to appear. The Northern Armory come out with him. Alexander reiterates that he quit TNA at Genesis. He thanks TNA for giving him the time tonight to address things. He’s been a wrestler for 20 years and has prided himself on being unbreakable, on being the iron man, and giving everything he has. At Genesis, though, he broke. He threw everything at Mike Santana and it wasn’t enough. That’s why Santana is the new standard of TNA.

Alexander realized at Genesis some hard truths. He hasn’t been liking the man in the mirror the last few months. Since his time in TNA has come to an end, he doesn’t want to be remembered as who he has been lately. Alexander wants to remember the good times. He talks about his son knowing him as a champion and a person who achieved his dreams. 

Alexander talks about watching the first ever TNA show and becoming inspired. He says that the fans have no reason to believe or trust him. However, the last six years in TNA has been a dream come true. It’s time to step away, though. The Northern Armory start to question him. He says that they have nothing to worry about. They are the best up and coming tag team in the world. Alexander recognizes it. TNA management recognizes it. The Motor City Machine Guns recognize it. 

The Northern Armory don’t want him to leave. Alexander says he has to. He’s done. No, wait…The Northern Armory says that Alexander CAN’T leave and attack him. As they target his leg and beat Alexander down, Eric Young comes out and makes the save. Eric Young grabs the microphone and says that next week, it’ll be him and Josh Alexander vs. The Northern Armory.

X-Division Champion Moose & JDC with Alisha Edwards vs. Matt & Jeff Hardy

As The Hardys enter the ring, Moose and JDC go on the attack right away. From opposite corners, The Hardys are whipped at each other, but they reverse it and gain control. JDC is whipped into Moose in the corner and The Hardys hit Poetry in Motion on both of their opponents.

Matt Hardy then takes control of JDC and drives his head into the turnbuckles. Matt then lifts JDC up for a powerbomb. He gets a two count. Matt climbs to the second turnbuckle and hits JDC with a leaping elbow. JDC pushes out of a Twist of Fate. JDC distracts the referee as Alisha grabs Matt. Moose hits Matt and then tags in. 

Moose rains down punches and trash talks Jeff. JDC tags back in and works Matt over in the corner. JDC tags in Moose, who clubs at Matt’s back. He cranks at Matt’s head and neck. Matt briefly fights back, but Moose sends him into The System’s corner. Moose drops Jeff from the apron and tags in JDC. JDC hits a dropkick. Moose hits a senton. JDC climbs to the top rope and goes for Down and Dirty, but Matt rolls out of the way. Moose tags in. Jeff tags in.

Jeff comes in hot and chops down Moose. He hits the leg drop to the nether region and drops an elbow. He goes for the pin, but JDC breaks it up. Jeff disposes of JDC and hits the Twist of Fate on Moose. He goes to the top rope, but JDC stops his progress as Alisha distracts the referee. Matt hits a Twist of Fate on JDC on the outside. Moose climbs to the top rope to go after Jeff, but Jeff pushes him off and hits the Swanton bomb for the win!

Winners: The Hardys

After the match, the lights go out and the 23 video teaser is shown. “It’s just a number.” When the lights come back on, Tom Hannifan reminds Matthew Rehwoldt that today is January 23rd.

Sami Callihan comes to the ring. He wants to know what’s going on with 23. He’s sick of waiting and the mind games. He tells 23 to come out. Steph De Lander’s music hits. Steph De Lander comes out with the Digital Media Championship. She won it in the divorce. Now that her husband is gone, though, she wants to introduce her boyfriend. The lights go out and the 23 teaser is shown. The lights come back on and…MANCE WARNER is in the ring behind Callihan! Mance Warner attacks Sami Callihan and lays him out with the Digital Media Championship. Warner and De Lander kiss.

A Rebellion commercial airs.

A TNA+ commercial airs.

Ariana Grace joins the commentary table.

WWE NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazer & Axiom vs. The Rascalz

Trey Miguel and Axiom start things off. They circle and lock up. Miguel grabs an arm and cranks it. Axiom works out of it and hits a dropkick. Axiom tags in Nathan Frazer and stretches Miguel. Frazer hits a running strike on Miguel. Frazer and Miguel counter and reverse some moves quickly until Miguel gains control and tags in Zachary Wentz.

The Rascalz double team Frazer and Wentz gets a two count. Miguel tags back in and is quickly kicked by Frazer. Axiom tags back in. Fraxiom strike at Miguel in succession and Axiom gets a two count. Axiom locks on a headlock. Miguel fights out of it, but Axiom tackles him down and gets a two count on a pin. Axiom grabs an arm and cranks it on the mat. Miguel fights out of it briefly, but Frazer tags in. Fraxiom hit stereo superkicks for a two count. Axiom tags back in and works over Miguel’s arm with him on the mat.

Miguel fights out of it and hits a German Suplex. Both men are slow to get up. Frazer tags in. Wentz tags in. Wentz comes in hot and tackles down Frazer a couple times and hits a snap German Suplex. Wentz hits a running knee in the corner. He kicks a sitting Frazer and then hits a running Shooting Star Press for a two count. Frazer shakes it off and hits a Slingblade. He covers and Miguel breaks it up.

Fraxiom double teams Miguel. Axiom and Miguel roll out of the ring. Frazer focuses on Wentz and puts him on the top turnbuckle. He follows him up, but is pushed off by Wentz. Frazer goes back up, though, and hits a superplex. As he does so, Axiom tags in. Fraxiom double teams Wentz and gets a two count.

Miguel gets back in the ring and disposes of Frazer. Axiom takes out Miguel. Wentz takes out Axiom. Everyone is slow to get up. Axiom and Wentz exchange strikes in the middle of the ring until Wentz gains control with a nasty superkick. Axiom hits a big superkick of his own on Wentz. Wentz shakes it off and The Rascalz double team Axiom. Frazer comes in and eats a double superkick. The Rascalz hit the Street Sweeper for a two count.

Wes Lee runs to the ring and tries to enter it. The referee won’t let him. With the referee distracted, Tyriek Igwe and Tyson Dupont come down and attack Wentz. Axiom hits the Spanish Fly on Miguel. Frazer hits the Phoenix Splash. Axiom covers Miguel and gets the win!

Winners and STILL NXT Tag Team Champions: Axiom and Nathan Frazer

Mike Santana makes his way to the ring through the crowd. Santana was taught by his father to be a man of his word - and he’s done exactly that in TNA. Not only did he become the standard of TNA on Sunday, but he made Josh Alexander say “I Quit.” In 2025, Santana’s goals will remain the same. He will become the TNA World Champion.

Mustafa Ali’s music hits and he comes out with his security. Ali makes his way to the ring and tells the citizens of TNA that he is back in TNA. There is work to be done, though. TNA needs great leadership and Ali is that great leader. He wants to give everyone something true to believe in. He’s launching a campaign to become the next TNA World Champion. Santana stared daggers at Ali the whole time, but Ali never acknowledged his presence.

Security knocks on Tessa Blanchard’s locker room. She comes out and is informed that she’s up next.

Tessa Blanchard comes out to the top of the ramp. She says that it feels good to be back in Blanchard Territory. She says that this was a proving ground where legends were made. Tully Blanchard is shown watching from the crowd as Tessa talks about her grandfather, Joe Blanchard, making moves on national cable television back in the day. She then takes a shot at the local sports scene and The Alamo.

Tessa says that her father and grandfather knew that, at a very young age, there was something inside of her that was greater than any Von Erich, Stone Cold Steve Austin, or Funk. She was destined to be great. The fans can say anything about her except that she’s not great. The standard has been raised and Blanchard answers to no one.

Frankie Kazarian’s music hits and he comes out with the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Trophy. He joins the commentary table for the main event.

TNA World Champion Joe Hendry vs. Matt Cardona

McKenzie Mitchell makes the championship introductions.

They circle and lock up. Joe Hendry drives Matt Cardona into the corner and breaks clean. Cardona pushes Hendry. Hendry pushes him back and Cardona rolls to the outside. Cardona gets back into the ring and goes for a lock up. Hendry adjusts, though, and grabs an arm instead. Cardona reverses it, but Hendry works out of it and kips up.

Cardona calls for a test of strength. Hendry goes for it, but eats a kick instead. Cardona then starts chopping Hendry in the corner. Hendry brushes them off and hits some chops of his own. Cardona lands a hard forearm to drop Hendry. Hendry is whipped into the ropes and runs them - landing a running high knee. Hendry hits a very delayed suplex.

Hendry goes after Cardona, but Matt moves out of the way and sends Hendry to the outside. Matt hits a running kick between the middle and bottom rope and then goes to the outside. He chokes Hendry with his shirt. Cardona attempts to hit a crossbody onto Hendry from the steps, but Hendry catches him. Hendry lifts Cardona to his shoulders and hits the Attitude Adjustment onto the apron.

Hendry lifts Cardona again, but Cardona rakes the eyes and sends Hendry into the steel steps. Cardona maintains control on the outside and then sends Hendry back into the ring. Cardona gets in some shots with Hendry down on the mat. Hendry briefly fights back, but Cardona whips Hendry hard into the corner. Cardona maintains control and chokes Hendry in the corner. Cardona gets a two count on a cover.

Cardona cranks at Hendry’s head and neck with Hendry down on the mat. Hendry fights out of it and hits a Sunset Flip for a two count. Hendry gets a couple more two counts on roll up attempts until Cardona cuts off his momentum. Cardona hits three neckbreakers for a two count. Cardona slaps on a guillotine choke, but Hendry stands out of it and hits a suplex.

Both men are slow to get up. When they do, Hendry blocks Cardona’s strikes and hits strikes of his own, followed by a clothesline. Hendry hits a Fallaway Slam and kips up. Hendry goes for the Standing Ovation, but Cardona gets out of it and hits the Straightjacket. Cardona then hits the Reboot. He goes for a second Reboot, but Hendry blocks it and goes for a powerbomb. Cardona wiggles out and hits a missile dropkick. Cardona hits a DDT for a two count.

Cardona goes for Radio Silence, but Hendry ducks out of it. Cardona charges Hendry in the corner, but Hendry moves. Cardona hits the referee instead. Hendry hits Cardona with a pop up powerbomb. He covers Cardona, but the referee is still down. Hendry gets up and attempts to lift Cardona. Cardona low blows Hendry.

Cardona slithers out of the ring and grabs the TNA World Title. John Layfield comes through the crowd and hits Cardona with the Clothesline from Hell on the outside. Hendry sees Layfield and seems confused. Layfield and Hendry stare at each other before Layfield leaves through the crowd.

Cardona gets into the ring and hits Hendry with the title belt. The referee recovers and Cardona gets a two count. Cardona attempts to hit Hendry with the title belt again, but Hendry ducks under it. Hendry hits the Standing Ovation for the win!
