01/23/25 Results from New Japan's Road to The New Beginning from Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan:

1 - Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Katsuya Murashima

Murashima taps out to the Texas Cloverhold.

Tanahashi is doing a round of matches with young lions as he enters his retirement tour.  The Ace will win them all, but the purpose is giving these young wrestlers experience in the ring with a veteran and superstar.  Tanahashi will give them all his feedback and they will grow from these matches.

2 - Shoma Kato, Master Wato, Boltin Oleg and Toru Yano vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru, SHO, Yujiro Takahashi and Ren Narita

Yujiro pins Kato after hitting Pimp Juice.

After the match, Narita low blows Oleg and House of Torture steals the NEVER Openweight 6 man Tag Title belts from Yano and Oleg.

No sign of EVIL yet.   He is still selling his claim to being done with New Japan.

3 - Ryusuke Taguchi, Tomohiro Ishii and Shota Umino vs. Jakob Austin Young, Francesco Akira and Great O-Khan

Taguchi forces Young to tap out to an ankle lock.

As Umino leaves the ring to the locker and wiping his face with a towel., O-Khan attacks him from behind.  He chokes Umino with the towel then slams him to the floor.  O-Khan cuts the towel with a pair of scissors.

4 - Tomoaki Honma and El Desperado vs. Hartley Jackson and Kosei Fujita

Jackson pins Honma after a Death Valley Driver.

5 - BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, Tetsuya Naito, Shingo Takagi and Yota Tsuji vs. Gedo, Taiji Ishimori, Clark Conners, Drilla Moloney and Gabe Kidd

BUSHI gets the Fable submission on Gedo, who taps out.

6 - YOH and Hirooki Goto vs. Robbie Eagles and Zack Sabre Jr.

Eagles pins YOH with a roll up cradle.

7 - YOSHI-HASHI vs. Ryohei Oiwa

Solid match.  Oiwa's chest was bruised from YOSHI-HASHI's chops.  Oiwa worked over his neck and went for The Grip.   YOSHI-HASHI beats him to the punch with a lariat.  YOSHI-HASHI with a Kumagaroshi.    Two count.  YOSHI-HASHI goes for Karma, but Oiwa reverses out and hits a lariat.  They exchange strikes.  Oiwa applies an armbar submission.  YOSHI-HASHI reverses into a Victory Roll.   Two count.  Oiwa locks in a Sleeper.   Oiwa hits The Grip.

Oiwa pins YOSHI-HASHI.

Impressive win by the younger Oiwa.   With the New Japan Cup on the horizon in March, Oiwa could be in a position to elevate himself.  In 2024, Yota Tsuji won the New Japan Cup and is now the IWGP Global Champion.   Oiwa has momentum to do the same this year.
