It was announced this morning that Screenwriter Barry Michael Cooper, who had a great series of gritty films including New Jack City, has passed away at 66. As you might guess, the film's title was the inspiration for the late Jerome Young's ring name, New Jack. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans. If you've never seen Cooper's film Sugar Hill, you are missing an all time incredible performance from the incomparable Michael Wright.
WWE Celebrity Hall of Famer Arnold Schwarzenneger has donated $1 million towards the Los Angeles Wildfires relief and repair.
The Scioto Valley Guardian in Ohio has covered a series of allegations against convention promoter Dillon Hines, the son of Fantastic Bobby Fulton ahead of a scheduled March convention, noting allegations of Hines abusing his father including a comment that Fulton "quit being something when [he] had cancer" during a podcast interview, allegations from Rob Van Dam and Sabu regarding money owed, allegations that he threatened D-Von Dudley to have him ejected from an event and more. I don't know how anyone would even get to that point with D-Von, who's one of the classiest people you could hope to meet in pro wrestling. Michael Bochicchio of Highspots.com distanced himself from Hines in the article as well, noting, “Highspots will no longer be affiliated with this promotion. Every reason has been publicly documented already.” Hines wiped all of his social media clean once the article was published and has stated he is done with wrestling after his convention. None of it was a good look for Hines, who of course is denying everything and earlier in the week, attacked Van Dam on social media as a "lying alcoholic and drug addict."
