The legendary Hamburg Fieldhouse in Hamburg, PA is once again hosting professional wrestling after announcing it was going to shutter operations in December 2023
The venue, which is owned and operated by a local volunteer fire department, was slated to lease the space to an auto dealer and cease running events but the deal fell through, in part due to the local community's reaction to the plan.
Instead, the venue is now once again hosting events and local promotion American Xcellence Wrestling, run by Antonio Laugginger and Jared Strunk, will return this Saturday 1/4 with AXW Tag Team Champion Security Inc. vs. The Ace of Space Academy, Sean Legacy vs. Channing Thomas, KC Navarro vs. Tony Deppen, AXW Heritage Champion Tommy Vecs vs. Love Doug, Zenith vs. Ava Everett, AXW Champion O'Shay Edwards, LSG, BRG and more.
The Fieldhouse hosted WWF and WWWF events dating back to 1960 including TV tapings for All-Star Wrestling and Championship Wrestling. The venue was host to the infamous Piper's Pit where Roddy Piper attacked Jimmy Snuka. ECW ran TV tapings there in 1994, including an absolutely incredible Sabu vs. Cactus Jack match and would also host house shows there in 1997 and 1998.
American Xcellence Wrestling had been running there recently in conjunction with legends conventions when The Fieldhouse suspended operations and this weekend, they return and a 2/1 date is also locked in.
