THE ECW EDITION OF THE Q AND A

I was watching old ECW Arena shows and the quality of the recording is much worse than the weekly TV show.  Weren’t they taped by the same crew and people?  Why is it so much worse?

Yes, they were taped by the same people and when they aired on TV and were released on video, they sounded great. Unfortunately for WWE, the shows were also filled with songs that ECW never paid the rights fees for so they had to be redubbed before airing on The WWE Network. If you get your hands on the original copies it's a much different experience.

Hi, I know you were a long-time ECW fan so I'm curious about your stance on this. I see Uncle Dave and AEW fans discounting NXT's win over AEW, saying it was simply ECW nostalgia. This doesn't sit well with me for a number of reasons, and I'm curious what you think about them.

1) ECW died 23 years ago, almost 24. Nostalgia will be there, but it isn't exactly One Night Stand

I agree. If nostalgia from decades ago worked as Uncle Dave said, why didn’t Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness draw a massive number?

2) The show's best numbers, if I saw correctly, were the opening and closing matchesm which, by the way, happened to be women's wrestling, something Tony doesn't feel draws and only had 4 minutes of on his show. That doesn't feel nostalgia driven.

No, it sure doesn’t but……it goes against Uncle Dave’s false narrative so he will ignore it.

3) How are we going to ignore NXT being on a different night and destroying the competition?

We aren’t, he will.

4) Lastly, how can Dave talk about ECW nostalgia when AEW's biggest draw right now is a 5 year old stable of 50 year olds?

When it comes to being honest about AEW, Uncle Dave is the man only fools listen to.  They deserve what they get.
