AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2024-12-27 23:07:00

It is Friday and AEW Rampage was recorded after Dynamite was recorded last Sunday at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Our commentary team is Tony Shciavone, Matt Menard, and Ian Riccaboni.

This is the final episode of Rampage, and tomorrow, I will have an audio of a recap of this week’s AEW shows as well as thoughts on Rampage over the last four years.

Chris Jericho w/Big Bill vs Anthony Bowens w/Max Caster

Bill dances his way to the ring. Caster’s rap gets complete silence. As it should.

Jericho and Bowens go for crowd cheers and Jericho offers to scissor Bowens, and then waves at him, and Bowens offers Jericho chops into the corner. Bowens brings Jericho into the middle of the ring and nails him repeatedly until Jericho is down. Jericho is able to get to his feet, gets a figure to the eye and works over Bowens, ending with a back suplex. He puts a boot on Bowens’ check and poses for a one count. Jericho lays in chops in the corner.

Jericho tries for a bulldog and Bowens instead sends him into the corner. They throw chops in the middle of the ring, Bowens trips Jericho and gets a running knee for two. Bowens goes for a drop-kick, but Jericho avoids it. Jericho has his lionsault blocked and Bowens gets a twisting hangman’s DDT for two. Jericho is able to lock in a Lion Tamer and we go to picture in picture which seems incredibly odd.

When we come back to full screen, Bowens finally makes it to the ropes to break the lion tamer. Bowens is able to recover to hit a famouser for two. Bowens goes to the top and Jericho meets him there where they fight. Jericho is knocked to the floor, and Bowens leaps onto Jericho and Bill. Jericho is rolled into the ring and Bowens goes to the top. Bryan Keith gets on the apron and distracts the ref, allowing Caster to get in the ring and Bowens to drop the scissor me timbers for two.

Jericho gets a lung blower for two while Keith has Jericho’s title belt. Jericho misses a Judas effect and Bowens gets a series of quick blows for two. Bill gets on the apron to distract the ref and Keith gets in the ring with the belt. Caster tries to pull it away from him, and Keith lets go of the belt so that Caster accidentally hits Bowens. Jericho crawls to the cover for the pin and the win.

Winner: Chris Jericho

Private Party (Quen and Zay) AEW Tag Team Champions vs The Already in the Ring Alec Price and Leo Sparrow

Matt Menard says it is an opportunity for these two young men who were already in the ring. That opportunity lasts all of one minute before Private Party gets the pin and the win.

Winners and still AEW Tag Team Champions: Private Party

Lio Rush, Anthony Bowens and their jackets come from the back and they immediately brawl with Private Party. Top Flight shows up and security tries to pull all six men apart.

Powerhouse Hobbs says he is so mad at Konosuke Takeshita and Don Callis, that he is going to take the title from Takeshita and for the Don Callis Family, it is going to be a World’s End.

Thunder Rosa vs the Already in the Ring Leila Grey

They shake hands to start and Grey is able to get a side headlock. Rosa gets a snap mare and locks on her own side headlock. They work to the corner and Rosa gets a chop. Rosa gets a pair of arm drags and then a basement clothesline for two. Grey turns a scoop from Rosa into a rollup for two. Rosa takes over with chops and then a big drop-kick as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Grey gets a suplex and rolls through for a front slam. Grey picks up Rosa, who fights free and gets a running charge into Grey in the corner. Rosa gets a drop-kick as Grey is sitting against the ropes for two.

Grey weathers a few strikes and gets a side effect for two. Grey butterflies the arms, but Rosa reverses it to a backdrop followed by a double stomp. Rosa locks on the Cobra Clutch after yelling “You can’t kill me!” and Grey taps out.

Winner: Thunder Rosa

Hook vs Nick Wayne w/Christian Cage, Mother Wayne, and Kip Sabian

Wayne attacks Hook before the bell, and Hook then tosses Wayne into the corner and wails away on him. Hook hits Wayne with his injured hand, so Wayne tries to take advantage. He fails as Hook gets a snap release suplex. Wayne gets a boot up in the corner and follows with a German suplex. Wayne gets a snap mare followed by a snap mare for a one count. Hook is able to dump Wayne over the top rope and then follows him and slams his head into the apron. Wayne whips Hook into the steel steps.

Wayne returns to the ring and as the ref is distracted, Mother Wayne holds Hook’s injured hand and Cage nails it with the steel contract holder. The ref is able to see it and They…. Are…Outta Here as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Wayne is stomping on Hook’s good hand and then hits a big kick to Hook’s head. Hook is able to get a T Bone suplex and both men are down. Hook gets a charge in the corner and another suplex. He gets a fisherman’s suplex with a bridge for two. Hook tries for a suplex, and Wayne escapes it by hitting the injured arm. Wayne then stomps on Hook’s arm in the corner. Hook grabs the ankle to knock Wayne down.

They fight on the apron and Hook blocks Wayne’s World and hits a suplex on the apron. Hook rolls Wayne into the ring for two. Wayne bites Hook’s arm and then knocks him to the mat. Wayne goes to the top for a frog splash for two. Wayne poses over Hook with Taz’s pose and then hits a suplex. Hook pops up immediately and hits a clothesline that turns Wayne inside out.

Cage and Sabian start to walk to the ring, and Katsuyori Shibata drives them off with a 2 by 4.

Wayne reverses a Redrum attempt and gets a quick rollup with tights for two. He gets a back kick and leaps off the middle turnbuckle into Hook’s Redrum and Wayne passes out.

Winner: Hook.

In the back, The Death Riders have Darby Allin. Jon Moxley says they have no choice, and he wraps a chair around Allin’s head. Claudio stomps on the chair and they kick Allin down the stairs.

The Death Rides then come into the Arena, and Mox grabs a mic. He forgives the crowd for showering him with hate because it isn’t about him, it’s about the crowd. He’s had to make hard decisions that are unpopular. Mox says that the end of the year is a good time for anyone who has a problem with him, his people or what they do, they can come to the ring and tell him about their problems.

Komander comes to the ring and Claudio drops him before he gets to the ring. They roll him in the ring and start attacking, and Top Flight runs to the ring to join in, but they aren’t enough. We then get Orange Cassidy’s music and he saunters to the stage. Marina steps up, which brings out Willow Nightingale and they attack. Adam Page and Jay White show as well and it’s a chaotic brawl. The locker room starts to empty out as everyone hits the ring.

As more people hit the ring, Christian Cage is on the second floor, watching everything with his contract. Pac smashes the lighting board and everyone keeps fighting in darkness. The Death Riders grab a cameraman and drag him out to the parking lot as they go to the control truck. Mox says everyone is fighting for scraps, but he will bring peace to his people.

He puts an end to Rampage and the screen goes black.
