AEW COLLISION IN THE HAMMERSTEIN BALLROOM REPORT

It is Saturday and AEW Collision is live at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City! Our commentary team is Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness.

Ian Riccaboni is with Big Justice and Big Boom AJ and they introduce the show and run down the card for tonight. They also say the word “Boom” more often in two minutes than anyone else in history.

Will Ospreay vs Ricochet in a Continental Classic match

Toilet paper is tossed into the ring and Ricochet tosses it back. The crowd then asks Ospreay to f$#@ up Ricochet.  

They start with mat wrestling and then run the ropes. Ricochet gets a shoulder tackle and Ospreay pops immediately back up. They move to arm bars and Ricochet goes to the floor, and Ospreay backflips off the ropes into a hero pose. Ricochet stays on the floor until the ref gets the count nearly complete. Ricochet stalls before they go back to running the ropes. Ospreay gets a tejaris and Ricochet lands immediately on his feet and Ospreay follows with an arm drag. They trade arm drags.  Ricochet catches Ospreay and drops him on the top turnbuckle. As Ospreay falls to the floor, Ricochet dives on him and we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Ricochet gets a pickup suplex and Ospreay lands on his feet and hits a leaping spin dive into Ricochet in the middle of the ring. Ospreay gets a diving forearm from the apron to the middle of the ring for two. Ospreay lays in chops and Ricochet gets shots of his own and leaps into an attempted Styles Clash, Ricochet escapes it and gets a face buster for two. Ospreay grabs Ricochet after he leaps onto Ospreay’s shoulders and hits the Style Clash for two.

Ricochet rolls out of the ring to stop a hidden blade attack. They fight on the apron and Ricochet is able to get a Death Valley Driver on the apron. Ricochet then gets a moonsault dive onto Ospreay on the floor. Ricochet rolls Ospreay into the ring for a 450 splash for two. Ricochet gets a front chancery slam for two. Lots of big, crazy moves, and the crow is hot for Ospreay. Ricochet misses a Spirit Gun. Ospreay gets a stunner and goes for the Oz Cutter, but Ricochet gets a stunner out of it. Ricochet runs into the Hidden Blade and both men are down.

They get to their feet and throw hands in the middle of the ring. Ospreay fires up and drops Ricochet. Ricochet grabs the ref and then charges into Ospreay driving them both into the ref. Ricochet goes for Vertigo, but Ospreay turns into a twisting Tiger Driver, but the ref is down. As Ospreay goes to the top, the ref starts to revive, and Ricochet knocks the ref into the ropes, knocking Ospreay down.  Ricochet gets the Spirit Gun for the pin and their win.

Winner and getting three points: Ricochet. 

Adam Cole comes to the ring after we get a video update on the upcoming Continental Classic matches.  Cole says nothing, waiting for MJF, who is next out, with his personal security to walk him to the ring. MJF heels the crowd and then points out that Cole turned on him. He then mocks Cole, following up by saying his dentist isn’t seeing him anymore. He then says that when MJF was champion, Cole was jealous of him. He then says he had chances to be champion, but much like his ankle, he blew it.

He says Cole turned on him because he’s jealous of him. He’s no longer Adam Cole Bay Bay, he looks like a crack bay bay.

Cole says it seems like MJF practiced his speech in the mirror. He then runs down things he WOULD mock MJF about, but he won’t do it. He says in every company he’s been in, he’s been the longest reigning champion. He says MJF is mad because Cole turned on his first. He says MJF is terrified of anyone being close to him because he thinks it is a weakness.  MJF says he WAS going to turn on Cole first. 

He says last year, he was going to turn on Cole, but Cole got lucky. He says for the first time in his life, he cared about someone. He then says that was a problem because all he should have cared about was keeping his title. But this year, he will end Adam Cole’s world. 

Cole then tosses the mic at MJF and attacks. Cole takes out the security until MJF takes him down with the Dynamite Diamond Ring. He goes for a final blow and Matt Taven and Mike Bennett hit the ring and MJF bails.

In the back, Lexi Nair is with Kris Statlander, and she says she has to work things out with Willow Nightingale. She then says that her downward spiral started when she lost the TNT title, so she challenges Mercedes Mone at World’s End.

Lexi is then with Orange Cassidy and he says that he, Jay White, and Adam Page need to have a conversation. But when the bell rings in 7 days, Jon Moxley has nowhere to go and they need to remove Jon Moxley from the equation, then the remaining three can fight for the world championship. 

Kris Statlander vs Penelope Ford

They lock up and Statlander forces them to the corner, and after Ford throws a shot, Statlander tosses her into the middle of the ring. After Ford runs the ropes, Statlander drops her with a shoulder tackle and follows with a LONG stalling vertical for a suplex. Ford finds her way down into a choke, but Statlander picks her up again and hits the suplex for two. Ford goes to the top for a blockbuster from the top for two. 

Ford stomps on Statlander and then leaps over the top rope to drop her knees on Statlander on the apron as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Ford is leg choking Statlander on the second rope. She then misses a knee drop on the apron and Statlander follows with a shotgun drop-kick and follows Ford to the floor to toss her into the ring. Statlander gets a blue thunder bomb for two. Statlander gets a charge in the corner, but misses the second charge and Ford gets a fisherman’s suplex into a two count. Ford does a handspring into a back elbow, but Statlander catches her. They jockey for position and Ford gets a stunner followed by a poisonrana for two.

Ford goes to the top and misses the moonsault press. Statlander hits a pair of German suplexes into the Staturday Night Special for the pin and the win.

Winner: Kris Statlander

Big Boom AJ and Big Justice get in the ring, and Chris Jericho and the Learning Tree come to the stage. He asks if they have a permit from Mayor De Blasio to be here tonight. Jericho asks if they know who he is and Big Justice says Jericho is a jackass. Bryan Keith says kids should be seen and not heard. Jericho then says he speaks for everyone saying he doesn’t want AJ here.

Jericho puts himself over and makes fun of how little he knows about New York City.  He says they don’t have time for dumb gimmicks like people scissoring. Anthony Bowens then shows as his music plays. Bowens tells him to shut the hell up. Large William gives a zen koan and the crowd chants for him. Bowens challenges Jericho to a match right here right now, and Jericho says Not Tonight. 

We then get Bowens, AJ and Big Justice scissoring. 

Lexi is with Deonna Purrazzo and Taya Valkyrie, and Toni Storm shows up and introduces herself. Deonna says she isn’t doing this again and asks if she wants to face Taya. Toni agrees saying it is a big opportunity.

Daniel Garcia vs Shelton Benjamin Continental Classic match. 

Matt Menard joins commentary. 

They start with grappling and Benjamin starts tossing Garcia around. Garcia is tossed to the floor and Benjamin follows him there. He tosses Garcia around on the floor as well. Benjamin tosses him into the ring and hits him with a short arm clothesline. Garcia throws chops and Benjamin eggs him on before dropping him as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Garcia gets a drop-kick off the ropes. Benjamin catches his charge and gets a pair of German suplexes. They move to fighting on the apron with Benjamin trying to suplex Garcia to the floor, but Garcia holds onto the ropes. Benjamin goes to the floor and Garcia leaps onto him. Benjamin catches him and hits another suplex.  Garcia is able to whip Benjamin to a chair on the floor and gives him ten in the corner and follows with a drop-kick.

Benjamin gets a running clothesline and returns to the ring. Garcia gets to his feet with help from the crowd and gets on the apron. Benjamin tries for a pump kick, but Garcia gets a dragon screw in the ropes. Benjamin is able to recover quickly for a German suplex. Benjamin misses a running knee in the corner and Garcia locks on a Dragon Tamer. Benjamin rolls through and turns it into an STF. Garcia crawls to the ropes and when Benjamin releases to pull him to the middle of the ring and Garcia gets a quick rollup for two.

Benjamin gets a thrust kick and crawls to the cover for two. Garcia is able to get a jack knife pin and holds on for the three count.

Winner and getting three points: Daniel Garcia

After the match, Bobby Lashley attacks from behind Garcia. Mark Briscoe tries to come to his aid, but security is there.  Swerve Strickland comes from nowhere and leaps onto everyone. He returns to the ring with Garcia as the locker room empties and we go to commercial. 

 

Mark Briscoe vs The Beast Mortos in a Continental Classic match

They start by throwing hands. Briscoe is able to force Mortos to the corner, but Mortos reverses it and they go back to the middle of the ring with Briscoe getting blow after blow. They charge into each other, and Mortos gets a tiger feint into a backslide for two. They trade rollups and two counts.

They charge into each other and Briscoe is finally knocked down on the third charge. Briscoe is able to dump Mortos to the floor. Mortos gets back in the ring and spears Briscoe as we go to picture in picture. 

When return to full screen, Mortos is attacking Briscoe in the corner. Mortos charges at Briscoe, who dodges and follows with a drop-kick. He dives onto Mortos on the floor and tosses a chair in the ring. Briscoe’s foot is grabbed by Mortos who brings Briscoe onto the apron over the top ropes. They brawl on the apron and Briscoe hits a German Suplex onto the apron.

Briscoe goes to the top and hits a sky twister dive from the top to the floor. Briscoe is finally able to use the chair as a launching pad for a dive onto Mortos. Mortos is rolled into the ring and Briscoe gets the Froggie Bo, but Mortos gets the knees-up. Mortos gets a backbreaker and then a power bomb into a backbreaker. He hits a Samoan Drop for two. Briscoe is able to go behind when picked up and tries for a Jay Driller, but Mortos makes it a back body drop. Briscoe is able to get a Death Valley Driver, goes to the top and hits Froggie Bo for two. 

Briscoe goes to the top and Mark hits another Froggie Bo and follows with the Jay Driller for the pin and the win.

Winner and getting three points: Mark Briscoe. 

Julia Hart has a taped promo where she accepts Jamie Hayter’s challenge at Fight For The Fallen on 1/1/2025.

In the back, Alex Marvez is with Mariah May, and she starts to mock Thunder Rosa’s dad and Rosa rushes in and attacks. May tries to run away and Rosa follows her and it spills out into the arena where Rosa charges into May at ringside and beats her pillar to post around the ring. May avoids a chair attack and Security pulls them apart. The women’s title belt was left at ringside and Rosa holds it up. 

Darby Allin vs Claudio Castagnoli in a Continental Classic match

Darby dives onto Claudio before the bell and they fight up the ramp to the stage. Darby climbs to the top of the lighting rig and dives onto Claudio. They stumble to the ring and the bell rings. Claudio hits a pop-up uppercut for two. Claudio hits the giant swing and goes longer than he ever has before. When he lets go, Darby rolls to the floor and we go to picture in picture. 

When we return to picture in picture, Darby tries a coffin drop off the second rope and Claudio catches him. Darby breaks away with elbows and gets Claudio to the floor with a low bridge. Darby dives onto Claudio and then rolls him into the ring, and Claudio rolls to the other side. Darby dives on him as well and then hits a coffin drop from the top to the floor. 

Darby gets a sleeper hold on Claudio while on his back. Claudio gets Darby off by backing onto the timekeeper’s table, breaking it. Claudio rolls into the ring and Darby crawls into the ring as well. Darby gets a rollup for two, and then prepositions, getting two more two counts. Claudio gets a double stomp on Darby. He then picks up Darby and tosses him to the floor, and Darby’s back hits the apron on the way down. Claudio then rams Darby’s back into the ring post twice. 

Claudio then swings Darby into the steel steps, rolls him into the ring and gets a running clothesline for two. Claudio hits the hammer and anvil elbows and when he is positioning for another move, Darby gets a sunset flip for two. Darby struggles to the top, and Claudio meets him there. Claudio gets a stalling vertical suplex, but Darby reverses it as they come off the top.

Darby goes to the top for a coffin drop, but Claudio gets the knees-up and hits Darby with a power bomb for two. Claudio gets in the ref’s face over this. Claudio hits another power bomb for two. Claudio grabs a chair and puts something in his trunks. The ref takes the chair away and Claudio pulls out brass knuckles, nails Darby and tosses the foreign object and covers for the pin and the win.

Winner and getting three points: Claudio Castagnoli

Will Ospreay hits the ring and has the brass knuckles and Claudio takes off through the crowd.
