Did AEW think they could do a stadium show in Australia just because the WWE did one?
I don’t think that was it. They probably thought that they could draw there, as they did for the first Wembley show, since it was a debut in a new country/market. It was definitely ambitious on their part to try it, especially given the state of their product.
Do you guys ever find yourselves bewildered, much like myself, by adults failing to understand how wrestling works? There were rubes, a mark kicked in the head by a donkey, all over social media calling for KO to be fired for his "recklessness... unprofessionalism... for 'hurting Cody'" with the package piledriver after SNME went off the air. One person insisted repeatedly that the piledriver was "banned from wrestling [not just WWE]" and another insist the piledriver was "illegal."
It’s not just wrestling fans that do this, it’s a significant percentage of adults in general. A lot of people just aren’t bright and it’s not getting any better. They do ignorant hot takes and think they come across as being smart. It’s sad.
I see discussion about RAW on Netflix and whether it should have a two hour runtime or a three hour runtime. But - since it won't be on broadcast TV - why would it HAVE to have a set runtime? Where is it written that it has to be two or three hours? Maybe it will have a run time of 2:35 this week, 3:22 next week, etc as story-telling and match timing needs dictate. Yes, this might eliminate any "what happened after RAW went off the air" intrigue but conversely, it'd lessen any feeling that "well, it's close to the end of the show, let's see how they end this match in two minutes". What do you think?
I honestly don’t know how it will shake out but I would not be surprised if it does end up being that the show is “around three hours” as opposed to being 180 minutes every week. As you said, there aren’t time blocks to fill on Netflix the way there are on traditional TV. It will be interested to see how it all shakes out.
With Hunter passing out legends deals like they are candy, why doesn't he pass some around to guys like Powers of Pain, Demolition, Slick, Akeem, etc… I know McMahon is still mad at them about the lawsuit, but shouldn't Hunter try and over come that and extend a hand?
WWE is a publicly traded company. If extending a deal to someone is a good financial decision, then they should consider it. If it’s not, they won’t.
Is WWE going to do a Tribute to the Troops show this year? Are they doing Saturday Night's Main Event in lieu of Tribute to the Troops?
I have heard no mention of it from WWE itself and in asking people in the company, I have been told that they haven’t heard anything either. I can’t say for sure that it won’t happen but if it does, it will be very last minute, obviously.
