HOGAN IN THE POURING RAIN, MICHAEL HAYES, TODD BRIDGES, WRESTLING SOCIETY X & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2024-12-21 10:00:00

Any word on Adam Copeland and Kenny Omega returning in AEW as opposed to movie sets or New Japan?

I'd shocked if they weren't back by World's End or Fight for the Fallen, but that's just me guessing.

A few weeks ago, people seemed to make a big deal out of Michael Hayes not being at WWE shows.  I know he's back but what the issue?

All we ever heard is Hayes was dealing with a personal/health matter.

Where are the post-SNME dark match results?

WWE didn't hold any matches after they went off the air.

What caused the demise of Wrestling Society X? Was it a poor product, ratings, a bad choice on MTV?  I recently came across the DVD set in a thrift store for $5 and it's not a bad watched.

I think the chaos that MTV was in at the time had a lot to do with it, but poor ratings didn't do anything to help its cause. They were placed against WWE's ECW and the ratings slipped every week. I'd gather that 99% of wrestling fans out there had no idea the show existed unless they found out about it online on a website like ours. MTV did nothing to market or promote the show even on their own network.  It was just out there in a vacuum.  Worse, MTV started cutting costs and killing off entire divisions because there was a regime change, so a wrestling show that had just debuted and had zero following beyond the most die-hard fans was hardly going to be a priority, so unfortunately for WSX, it got shafted.

I am trying to remember an old match with Hulk Hogan wrestling in the pouring rain.  Any ideas?

I believe you are thinking about a match between Hogan and John Studd in 1985.  You can find it by clicking here.

Why do you think Todd Bridges, who was obviously a big fan, never pursued wrestling after he did the Hogan Celebrity Wrestling Show?

My best guess is that he was already in his early 40s when that show was filmed, so even though he showed a great aptitude for it on the show, it likely wasn't something he was going to pursue at that point in his life.
