Once Raw airs live on Netflix, when will it be available for VOD streaming?
My impression is that as soon as it completes airing, it will be available to watch on demand as soon as Netflix uploads it.
With Netflix picking up Raw, do you think any other streaming services will want wrestling content if Raw is successful?
If it's successful? It's going to be one of the top viewed things weekly on Netflix worldwide. I would think that the attention WWE gets will spur on others to at least take a look at other projects, but there's no guarantee this leads to, say, MLW on AppleTV+ or anything like that.
When Shawn Michaels required back surgery during 1998 after WM14. Was the initial diagnosis that he wouldn't return and they'd have to use him in a different role, IE Commissioner, or was it more of 'Shawn's going to be out a while but will be back in months/a year' thing?
At the time, the belief was Michaels was done for good, to the point there was concern over whether he'd even make it to the Wrestlemania 14 match against Steve Austin. He didn't wrestle from 1998 to 2002 on national television. If WWE thought Michaels could perform, they certainly would have wanted him to be in the ring at the time.
I was looking over some ring results from the old WWWF, I noticed that in several cards, the last match had so and so wrestled to a "curfew draw", is there any particular reason why some shows had curfews? This seemed to happen a lot at the Madison Square Garden venue. I would think a match ending in this manner would have upset a lot of fans in attendance, especially if it was a World title match.
During that era, the athletic commission in New York would legitimately enforce a curfew for events, which I believe was 11 PM. If a match hit that point, the commission called for it to end. Promoters could book challengers into matches with the champion, go to a curfew draw and have an issue to come back with because the champ or challenger "almost had" the win but ran out of time.
Are you attending the WWE Netflix Kickoff to report live? I was curious if you'd be able to do a report on what the new HQ is like compared to Titan Tower.
No. I was invited by the company but did not attend live. We had coverage of the stream instead.
