AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2024-12-13 23:14:00

It is Friday and AEW Rampage was recorded after Dynamite in the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, MO. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Matt Menard, Chris Jericho, and Tony Schiavone.

We start with a video of the contract signing between Matt Cardona and Chris Jericho for the Ring of Honor title match at Final Resolution where Cardona puts Jericho through a table.

Matt Cardona vs Bryan Keith

They lock up and Cardona forces them into the ropes for a clean break. Matt then shoves Keith done and Keith stays in the ropes as the ref makes Matt back off. Matt grabs a side headlock and is shot into ropes where he drops Keith with a shoulder tackle. He knocks Keith down again and gets a flapjack on Keith. Keith rolls out of the ring to escape a face wash kick and Matt leaps onto Keith on the floor.

Matt hits a Russian leg sweep into the barricade and then tosses Keith into the ring and Keith rolls to the apron on the other side. They brawl on the apron and Keith shoves Matt off the apron into the steel steps. Jericho gives him a high five for that. Keith rolls Matt back into the ring and grabs a cravat. Matt fights his way free, but Keith knocks him down, gets a leaping knee for two.

Keith uses a leg to choke Matt on the second rope. Keith lays in chops and Matt fires back. Keith fires back and then gets a running knee. Keith grabs another cravat and hits an elbow. As Keith is shouting at the crowd, Matt gets a jawbreaker. Keith runs the ropes, but holds on so that Matt misses a drop-kick. Keith hits a boot to the head and then knocks him to the floor as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, they are fighting in the corner, and Matt whips Keith’s legs out from under him to the mat. Matt hits a back elbow, a sling blade and then a face breaker to the Matt. He lays in blows in the corner and hits the face wash in the corner for two. Keith gets a headbutt and Matt follows with a drop-kick from the middle rope. Keith gets a STO as Matt charges him for two.

Keith tries for a butterfly hold and Matt escapes and gets a straightjacket driver for two. Keith gets an insigiri and Matt hits Radio Silence for the pin and the win.

Winner: Matt Cardona

Jericho leaves commentary.

Toni Storm who is no longer Timeless vs Harley Cameron

Harley had a funny song to push the AEW merch before commercials.

Storm offers a handshake and Harley grabs it and pulls her into a headlock. Storm is shot into the ropes and comes off with a shoulder tackle, and then lays in slaps and a kick. Storm gets a German suplex. Storm lays in chops in the corner and then lays in blows until Harley pulls her off the top. Harley chokes her with a foot and then says we will be right back after this if Storm remembers who she is.

When we return to full screen, Harley has a rear chinlock. Storm fights out with elbows and then gets a backbreaker. Storm gets a shoulder tackle and then a Thesz press. Storm hits a fisherman’s suplex and holds on for two. Harley is able to get a backdrop followed by a running kick for two.

Storm is able to grab Harley in the middle of a charge and slam her for two. Storm hits the hip attack and then Storm Zero for the pin and the win.

Winner: Toni Storm

We then get a hype video for Brody King and Komander’s match later next week.

Deonna Purrazzo vs The Already In The Ring Shazza McKenzie

Deonna wins with a power bomb and the arm bar within 90 seconds.

Winner: Deonna Purrazzo

Alex Marvez is with Kris Statlander in the back, and he asks where she goes from here after losing to Mercedes Mone for the TNT title. She says her next steps forward are to keep going forward, and she will be wrestling every night she can. And she says she has unfinished business with the TNT title.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring to speak to Don Callis, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, and Lance Archer.  Callis says that Tony is shocked by how they do business, but he is in the getting over and making money business. He puts over his team. He then explains that Fletcher dominated Will Ospreay. He then talks about how Fletcher beat Okada and asks Okada how he likes that….bitch!

Kyle then talks about how he doesn’t care if they boo him, and they ARE booing him, and willing the Continental Classic is his destiny. Callis takes the mic back and says the Don Callis family are the 1 percenters and no one in the back is big enough or bad enough to get in the ring with them.

This brings out Powerhouse Hobbs and Mark Davis.

Powerhouse Hobbs and Mark Davis vs Lance Archer and Konosuke Takeshita.

Hobbs and Takeshita start the match, but before they lock up, Takeshita tags in Archer.

Don Callis joins commentary.

Archer and Hobbs trade blows. Archer cuts him off with a knee and they charge into each other. Hobbs backs Archer to the corner and gets ten on top. Davis is tagged in and he gets ten in the corner. They whip Archer across the ring and charge into him there. Archer fights out of a waistlock and runs into shoulder tackles from Davis and Hobbs. They hoist Archer for a stalling vertical suplex for one.

Takeshita kicks Davis in the back when he goes to the ropes and Archer drops him and trains down blows as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Davis has been the babyface in peril through the break. He dodges a splash from Archer, but Archer recovers in time to knock Hobbs off the apron. Konesuke is tagged in and Davis blocks a suplex for a bit, but Takeshita is able to overcome it for a suplex and a two count. Davis gets a big right hand and dives for the hot tag to Hobbs, who runs wild.

Takeshita gets in a few blows, but Hobbs gets a clothesline. Takeshita gets a big knee and both men are down. Archer and Davis are tagged in and go at each other with clotheslines until Davis knocks Archer down. Davis tries for a charge, but Archer stomps him down.  Davis is put on top and they fight there.  Takeshita joins in by poking Davis’s eyes and then they try for a double suplex. Hobbs comes over and powers bombs all three.

Davis tags him in and Hobbs drops the straps. Takeshita nails Hobbs from behind, Archer gets a big kick and a power slam for two. Davis holds Takeshita’s foot and pulls him to the floor and slams him into the barricade. Archer drops Davis and Hobbs hits a power slam on Archer. Hobbs hits the spine buster for the pin and the win.

Winners: Powerhouse Hobbs and Mark Davis

After the match, Takeshita tries for a cheap shop, but Hobbs hits him with a spine buster and stands over him with the International Championship Belt.
