From Fukushima, Japan:
1 - Tiger Mask, Tomoaki Honma and Shota Umino vs. Katsuya Murashima, Ryusuke Taguchi and Alex Zayne
Tiger Mask forces Murashima to tap out to a hammerlock submission.
2 - Shoma Kato, YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto vs. Kosei Fujita, Ryohei Oiwa and Zack Sabre Jr.
Fujita forces Kato to tap out to an Indian Deathlock surfboard.
3 - Jakob Austin Young, Callum Newman and Jeff Cobb vs. Gedo, SANADA and Gabe Kidd
Gabe Kidd has been hyping his match with Kenny Omega at Wrestle Dynasty. This tells me that War Dogs will not win World Tag League.
Young hits Jakob's Ladder on Gedo. Newman hits a Punt Kick on Gedo.
Newman pins Gedo.
4 - BUSHI, Yota Tsuji and Shingo Takagi vs. Taiji Ishimori, Chase Owens and KENTA
KENTA forces BUSHI to tap out to Game Over.
World Tag League B Block Matches:
5 - Boltin Oleg and Toru Yano vs. Stevie Filip and Tome Filip
Oleg pins one of the Filips with a Kamikaze.
Oleg and Yano have tied for the lead with 4 points.
Natural Classics have 2 points.
6 - Jado and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Shane Haste and Mikey Nichols
Nichols applies a variation of the figure four on Jado. Jado taps out.
TMDK have 4 points.
Jado and Tanahashi have 0 points.
7 - Hiromu Takahashi and Tetsuya Naito vs. TAKA Michinoku and Taichi
Hiromu pins TAKA with the Hiromu Roll.
Los Ingobernales de Japon have 4 points.
Just 4 Guys have 2 points.
Taichi acknowledges his former Suzuki-Gun teammate Zack Sabre Jr. at ringside on English commentary. Zack says he would love nothing more than to defend the IWGP World Title against Taichi.
8 - HENARE and Great O-Khan vs. Ren Narita and EVIL
Zack Sabre Jr. puts over HENARE and his run as NEVER Openweight Champion. Zack says he loves to watch HENARE's matches.
Ref bump. Kanemaru interferes. Typical shenanigans.
HENARE headbutts EVIL and hits a Rampage. O-Khan hits an Eliminator on EVIL and pushes him out of the ring. They grab Narita who is the legal man. They go for the Imperial Drop but Narita grabs the referee. Narita tries to hit O-Khan with the push up bar, but O-Khan ducks. HENARE picks up Narita and O-Khan hits the Imperial Drop.
O-Khan pins Narita.
United Empire have 4 points.
House of Torture have 4 points.
B Block has a 5 way tie for first.
O-Khan addresses the crowd. He is interrupted by a video package of the Young Bucks. They actually say "We are tired of working from home so we decided to come back to Japan on January 5, Wrestle Dynasty." They want a shot at the IWGP World Tag Team Championship.
Crickets.
O-Khan grabbed a production worker and dragged him to the interview area to question him why he played that video.
HENARE said if the Young Bucks were any good, they would be in the World Tag League, not sipping drinks.
In my opinion, this is completely stupid, by AEW and New Japan. The IWGP Tag Champions beat the hated House of Torture and then get overshadowed by the Young Bucks. We are in the middle of a Tag Tournament to see who the next challengers will be, and AEW wrestlers can show up and get automatic title shots? HENARE's words resonated because it was a shoot.
HENARE almost died in that stupid cage match which was Ospreay's final match in New Japan. HENARE healed, came back to win the NEVER Openweight Championship, then won the IWGP Tag Team Championship. After a strong year for HENARE, what does he earn?....... a potential match with the Young Bucks.
If you are looking at both cards for both nights currently advertised, New Japan is doing it's part to fill in the wrestlers for both cards. Where is Kazuchika Okada, Jon Moxley, Will Ospreay, Hangman Page, Mercedes Mone or Chris Jericho? Wrestle Dynasty is advertised as having stars from CMLL, AEW, New Japan, ROH and Stardom. It seems like only one company is filling the card and promoting the matches.
These are not "dream matches", this is hot shot booking. This two night event will be cluttered with pointless matches which will lead nowhere. Wrestle Kingdom is supposed to culminate the entire year. New Year's Dash on January 6 is a reboot and the new year begins with new stories. Wrestle Dynasty will be an afterthought by January. I hope New Japan enjoys the money that Tony Khan is paying them for the Tokyo Dome, because they are supposed to be building new stars to replace Tanahashi and Okada. That has not happened yet, another year will soon pass, and the arenas are not being filled by Japanese fans.
