WrestleTix revealed that close to 45,000 tickets have been distributed for the 2025 Royal Rumble, which is over two months away still. The tickets went on sale to the public just over a week ago. That amount of tickets moved is INSANE. My question is as someone who followed the business for so long, are you surprised to see WWE in this boom period for the last two years or so? This was the first true boom in almost 25 years, so it really felt like it might never happen again.
Nope, I am not surprised at all. I have said for decades now that the booking is the most important thing in wrestling. The masses care about who is having the match and why they are having it. When the booking is great, people get interested. I am not surprised at all.
One of your competitors likes to say that he studies the business whenever anyone disagrees with him. Do you study the business?
I studied business in college, where I got a degree in the subject. There are no tests or degrees for wrestling reporters. So no, I don’t “study” the business and I don’t think the person you mentioned does either. I think he just says that to make himself feel more important and to me, that’s really sad.
Assuming Tony gave creative control to Mercedes Mone, is there any way he can wrest it from her? If she’s talking, her segments are unwatchable.
I think that would lead to a really ugly situation and Tony likes to avoid ugly situations.
How will AEW and MAX handle commercial breaks for ad free members of MAX?
I have no idea. I guess they could just run the feed of the match if they want to.
Contrary to some internet hate, I think Solo Sikoa has developed nicely, especially on the mic. He’s very entertaining as a douchey heel who talks good smack. Jada Parker is awesome, charismatic, and has star written all over her. Lash and Jakara have improved by leaps and bounds with their ring work and are very entertaining; with Jakara having Sasha Banks potential. Do you agree these stars deserve more praise for their solid performances?
This question tells me that I made the right choice to not seek out hot takes from fans on social media. I look at the numbers and the talents. Anyone who can’t see how good Solo and how much he has grown is someone who probably only cares about moves and not the bigger allure of Pro Wrestling.
