AEW had over 10,000 fans in attendance at The Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
We are told there were no major injuries coming out of the show.
As noted earlier, Ricky Starks was backstage at the PPV, the first time he's been at an AEW event in some time. Starks made a surprise appearance at GCW in the afternoon before the PPV. We are told he was warmly greeted by those backstage. His GCW booking would have had to have been approved by AEW management. No word when or whether he will return to AEW programming.
Willow Nightingale returned tonight from the concussion suffered in Mexico, attacking Marina Shafir.
There was a LOT of praise backstage for how well Mercedes Mone and Kris Statlander clicked tonight in the ring.
At one point, Daniel Garcia vs. Jack Perry was slated to go on a little earlier in the show but a change was made in the match order.
The angles at the end of Jon Moxley vs. Orange Cassidy was designed to showcase how many challengers are chasing the AEW title between Hangman Page, Christian Cage, Darby Allin and Jay White.
The roster loved having Big Boom AJ, Big Justice and The Rizzler of TikTok fame at the show and were all getting photos with the trio backstage. Their appearance received one of the biggest live reactions all night and obviously helped bring a different audience in for the live show. The match against QT Marshall was an absolute success live in terms of crowd reaction as well as getting AEW some mainstream mentions, including The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon:
Tonight was AJ's first bout since teaming with Mike "Nova" Bucci at Bucci's 2022 retirement match in New Jersey. AJ wrestled for many years for Phoenix Championship Wrestling, booked and promoted by Donnie B, aka Mike Bucci's twin brother. As we noted earlier, Donnie was in attendance tonight with his family to support AJ.
Add Dave LaGreca of Busted Open to the list of those visiting at tonight's PPV.
There will be a YouTube special featured the unveiling of the Continental Classic competitors tomorrow hosted by Tony Schiavone and Tony Khan. Daniel Garcia is part of the tournament.
