RATINGS MATTER LESS AND LESS, SHOULD TONY KHAN BE WORRIED, THE RETURN OF OMEGA AND MORE

With RAW moving to Netflix and Dynamite about to be simulcast on MAX, what will wrestling fans fixate on and argue about when TV ratings become an obsolete metric?

Oh don’t worry, they will find something.  They always do. With that said, the importance of ratings has meant less and less with the advent of streaming and time-shifting.

NXT has defeated AEW in viewership 6 of the last 8 weeks including when they were on the same night. Should Tony be worried?

About losing to NXT?  Not really, no.  If he was going to be worried about something it should be the year to year regression that AEW has seen in viewership and attendance but that isn’t a new issue.  He hasn’t addressed the root of the problem, his bad booking, until now so I will believe that will change when I see it.

I was going to write and ask about what I felt were some horribly produced moments on Dynamite last night ( 20 Nov 2024 ) but I know it's futile and you will ( quite correctly ) just remind me this is what we're going to get with TK.  So, I'll focus on one moment that made total sense;  Claudio Castagnoli absolutely wiping out Darby Allin.  I figured the way the match was being structured that Allin was going to sneak out a win, but he got annihilated.  I'll take the win, lol.

With logic in AEW take the wins where you can get them, for sure.

This applies to WWE as well, but is glaring in AEW;  wrestlers doing whatever they want outside the ring and not getting disqualified or even counted out.  I've seen plenty of it, but Claudio/Darby reminded me of it when they were outside forever and Castagnoli should have been DQ'd at the least.  Do you recall when this started getting more prevalent?

It’s definitely worse in AEW. They put the refs in such a bad position. The irony is that when AEW started it was supposed to be like sport, where rules matter.  Those days are gone.  WWE does do it too but at least they try to explain it instead of just ignoring it.

What does it say about AEW when Kenny Omega is coming back to wrestle for NJPW and not AEW?

I made that same exact point on the show with Mike Johnson this week.  It blows my mind to be honest. I get that NJPW is a partner, or whatever they call it, but the guy who almost died, who was last seen being beaten to a pulp on your show, should not return anywhere by Dynamite in my opinion.
