It’s Wednesday! You know that means Jon Moxley and the Death Riders have taken over TBS. Hopefully they allow AEW Dynamite to the LIVE and on the air. Tony Schiavone, Excalibur and Nigel McGuinness have the call of the action.
Christian Cage & Adam Page w/Nick Wayne, Kip Sabian and Nick Wayne’s Mom vs. Jay White & Juice Robinson
Jay White and Adam Page kick us off. Lockup, neither man can get the edge, clean break. Side headlock by White, reversed by Page only to be reversed by White. Page throws him off. Cage tags himself in and stomps White. Cage with chops. White sends him into the buckles. Juice tags in. Lockup, clean break in the corner. Right hand jabs by Juice into a reverse DDT by Cage. Juice to the floor only to be kicked by Nick Wayne. That makes Nick Wayne’s mom happy. Page tags himself in and elbows Juice in the corner. Chops by Page into a belly to belly for 2. Cage tags in and kicks Juice’s ribs. Neckbreaker for 2 by Cage. Neck crank by Cage. Juice to the floor. Nick Wayne goes for a kick. Hook comes out and they fight off. Hopefully Nick Wayne’s mom stays. Juice with a neckbreaker. Page tags in, as does White. They slug it out. Dragon screw by White. Back elbow by Page. Cage comes in and eats a DDT. FRont chancery throw for 2 by White. Whit and Juice with a double team. Brainbuster and Juice scores a 2. Cage pulls Juice from the ring but eats The Left Hand of God. Juice to the top, knocked off by Page. White tries to help but eats a clothesline. Fallaway slam by Page off the 2nd rope for 2. Liger bomb by Page for 2. Whiteand Cage get involved. Juice with the left hand of God to Cage. White with a blade runner to Cage on the floor. Rollup by Juice but Nick Wayne’s mom uses her guile and good looks to create a distraction. Sabian nails Juice with Cage’s contract and Page hits a deadeye for the pin.
WINNERS CHRISTIAN CAGE & ADAM PAGE
Apparently, Jon Moxley isn’t taking over until later.
Rene’ Paquette is backstage with the CEO and Kamille. Mone is not happy with Kamille as of late and even more upset with Kris Statlander. Statlander approaches and easily dispatches Kamille. Statlander sends them both through a wall with a spear.
Tony Schiavone welcomes Will Ospreay. Ospreay wants answers from Kyle Fletcher and calls him out for a chat. Fletcher comes out to the ramp. Fletcher brags about his recent actions, putting Ospreay on the shelf for 3 weeks. Fletcher takes out a screwdriver and throws it away when Ospreay promises not to attack him. Ospreay reminds him what he’s done to further Fletcher’s career. Fletcher says Don Callis opened his eyes to the truth. Fletcher says the only reason Ospreay helped him was to keep him under his thumb. Fletcher challenges him to a match at Full Gear. Ospreay accepts. Brain Cage and Lance Archer storm the ring. Wil Hobbs and Mark Davis come to the rescue and a 6 way brawl ensues. We go right to the next match:
Roderick Strong vs. Lance Archer- Falls Count Anywhere
They brawl in the dark in the back as we go to commercial. As we return they are fighting somewhere in the crowd. Archer sends Strong over the rail . Brian Cage comes out to help but Mike Bennett & Matt Taven with the save. Archer chokeslams Taven onto security. Strong crotches Archer on the rail. Chairshot by Strong. Running knee by Strong and he scores the pin.
WINNER RODERICK STRONG (earns match with MJF at Full Gear)
Konosuke Takeshita comes out and attacks Strong. Adam Cole to the rescue and this leads us right into the next match.
Adam Cole vs. Konosuke Takeshita
We start with a brawl. Luckily Cole’s music keep going so he can get his pose in. Takeshita with punches and chops in the corner. Elbow strike by Takeshita as we go to commercial.
We’re back and Cole with elbow strikes. Takeshita fires back. Neckbreaker by Cole for 2. Blue thunder bomb by Takeshita for 2. Takeshita poses. Cole misses a kick but nails a follow up. Takeshita gets out of the way of a kneestrike and scores a 2 with a brain buster. Takeshita blocks the panama sunrise and nails a powerbomb and release German and a lariat for 2. Side kick by Cole into a Panaman Sunrise. Takeshita rolls out and puts on the Dynamite Diamond ring and punches Cole with it. Takeshita scores the pin.
WINNER KONOSUKE TAKESHITA
Cole will not be joining Roderick Strong against MJF. Strong attacks Takeshita and Takeshita with a low bow. Kyle O’Riley comes in with a chair to make the save. Ricochet attacks and levels Takeshita. Takeshita runs off.
The Death Riders enter the parking lot
Claudio Castignoli and Wheeler Yuta are destroying JD Drake on the ramp. Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir come out. Isn’t Pac a part of this group? Shafir forces a cameraman into the ring. Moxley has the mic and talks about Orange Cassidy and how an example will be made of him. Cassidy comes out with Rocky Romero and Mark Briscoe as back up. Cassidy he’ll take the power back when he beats Moxley at Full Gear. Cassidy challenges Yuta to a match next week. Darby Allin attacks the Death Riders. The Conglomeration join in and they fight to the back. Allin jumps on to the back of the truck. Claudio destroys him and the Death Riders take off.
We see highlights of last weeks 6 man tag team match with the Learning Tree and the Conglomeration. Rene’ interviews the Learning Tree. In 2 weeks, it’ll be Jericho vs. Ishii for the ROH Title on Honor Cl….no, of course not. It’ll be on Dynamite.
The Continental Classic kicks off in 2 weeks.
Dr. Britt Baker DMD vs. Penelope Ford
Lockup, hammerlock takedown by Baker for 2. Headlock by Baker. Ford reverses into an arm twist. Elbow strike by Ford. Baker fires back and then hits a neckbreaker. Baker chases Ford, who is playing a little cat-and-mouse. Elbow strike by Ford. Both women to the floor as we go to commercial.
As we return, it’s Baker with a surfboard. Baker escapes and sends Ford into the middle buckle. Clothesline by Baker. Sling Blade by Baker. Leg sweep by Ford. Handspring elbow by Ford. Ripcord elbow by Ford into a cutter for 2. Ford misses a moonsault. Kick by Baker into a neckbreaker. Baker puts the glove on. Dropkick by Ford into a Mutalock. Baker counters into the lockjaw and Ford taps.
WINNER DR BRITT BAKER DMD
Serena Deeb comes out. Baker just says that no one cares.
Rene’ is backstage with Mina Shirakawa. Harley Cameron interrupts her and challenges her to a match. This was pretty bad.
Swerve Strickland vs. Lio Rush
Rush avoids Swerve’s offense. Takedown by Swerve. Lio avoids the charge. Lio with a shoulder block. Both men end up on the floor in a staredown. Eye rake by Lio. Punch by Swerve. Back in the ring, Swerve to the top. Dropkick by Rush as we go to commercial.
We are back and Swerve with a suplex for 2. Swerve with an uppercut off the 2nd rope. Kick-punch combo by Swerve. Rush with a near fall. Rush tries a rana off the table but is able to hit a reverse rana off the steps. Suicide dive by Rush. Rush with a frog splash for 2. Rush misses a stunner. Body punches by Swerve. Rollup for 2 and an enziguiri for 2. Swerve with a Big Pressure for the win.
WINNER SWERVE STRICKLAND
Swerve has the mic. He talks about people trying to make a name off of him. He needs to remind people who he is and whose house that is. Swerve calls Bridgeport “Stamford”.
Bobby Lashley and MVP come out. MVP says they really like Swerve. The AEW faithful, enthralled by this, chant “THIS IS BRIDGEPORT”. This seems to throw MVP off. Shelton Benjamin attacks Swerve from behind. He throws Swerve to the floor and Lashley with a clothesline. Lashley beats down Swerve on the aisle and then throws him in the ring. DDT by Shelton. MVP restrains Nana. Chokeslam by Shelton. Full Nelson by Lashley. Referees come out to break this up.
The crowd gets louder with “Bridgeport” chants as Lashley throws Nana from the ring.
Rene’ brings out Jamie Hayter. She’s interrupted by a Julia Hart video.
Private Party come out to observe tonight’s next match.
FTR vs. Malakai Black & Brody King
Dax Harwood and Brody King start with a lockup, chop by Dax, King responds in kind. Cash Wheeler tags in, he avoids a chop and a charge. Big back body drop by King. Black tags in and nails a rana. Spinning elbow by Cash. Dax tags in, armdrag by Black into an armbar. Dax in the corner with a chop. Shoulder block by Black. Dax blocks a running knee. Black avoids the punch and rolls up Dax for 2. Action spilled to the floor. Cash with a clothesline as we go to commercial.
We are back and Black hits a moonsault on the arms of both Dax and Cash. King tags in and goes to work on FTR. Belly to belly on Cash. Cannonball on both members of FTR. Chops by King. FTR with a Hart Attack for 2 on King. Doctor Bomb by King for 2 on Dax. Cash fires away at King. FTR with the Power Plex but King gets his knees up. King scores a 2. All 4 in the ring. Shatter Machine by FTR for 2 a Black pulls Dax out of the ring. Black and Cash fight it out on the apron. FTR with a spike piledriver on the apron but King with a splash. King with 2 lariats for 2. King with a sleeper and Dax goes night-night.
WINNERS BRODY KING & MALAKAI BLACK (will join the 4 way AEW Tag Team Title Match at Full Gear.
