I was surprised you didn't have lives notes or coverage from the 2300 Arena NXT show. How was it live?
There's a great reason as to why we didn't have those - I was home in NYC. I did not attend the show live.
As the "ECW" guy on the site, what did you think of the nostalgia on NXT 2300?
I talked a lot about this on the We Don't Need No Stinkin' Name Show with Dave Scherer in the Elite section. I enjoyed the show and the atmosphere from the audience was obviously great. To me, the high point was seeing Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke on the show and getting such a warm reaction. I think one could argue there may have been too much nostalgia on the show, but that was the obviously the game plan. I am glad the ten woman tag got to headline and close the show. I was thrilled to see Francine, The Dudleys, RVD, etc. but it's 2024 and the show should have been about ways of using them to give the NXT talents some sort of rub, and I think they did a good job at that.
Why is the Speed title never defended anywhere but Speed?
You answered your own question. They are creating Speed content exclusively for Speed and for Twitter. Putting that content, or a version of that content elsewhere wouild dilute it - and that's a bad idea, since they are being paid for the Twitter content.
If WWE and AEW are getting big money for their content, what's stopping other companies from doing the same?
As I have said and written before, I think an argument can be made that not all of pro wrestling is as hot as WWE is. AEW has locked in their new deal and that's going to cascade into more money for them - and hopefully a resurgence in interest. For the other companies, they need more eyeballs and a promotional partner that wants to pay them to license their content. If the other companies find that or not, remains to be seen. I hope they do as I want everyone to make as much money as they can and perform in front of the largest groups of fans possible.
When did WWE start doing the Hall of Fame rings and did those inducted before then receive rings as well?
I believe they instituted the rings in 2009 and yes, previous Hall of Fame classes did receive a ring retroactively as well.
Do you think one day when Rey Mysterio retired Dominik will take over his Rey ring name?
There's always a chance of I, I guess, but I would argue that Dominik has established his name enough that it would be a step backwards to "rebrand him" as Rey Jr. or whatever.
