Leading up to when Shawn Michaels tossed Marty Janetty through the Barbershop window, it was obvious to anyone with a set of eyes that he was destined for singles success as the more talented member of the team. One can say the same about Montez Ford, who has never had a singles run during his time in WWE. With his in-ring talent and charisma, is it long past due that he is given a significant singles run? And when that time comes, should he go the route of Michaels as the cocky heel with an attitude who can back it up in the ring, or should he take the Kofi Kingston route of veteran babyface who is finally given a chance?
It’s funny, back in the day people thought Marty would be the break out star of the team. Go figure. I like bet Tez and Dawkins. I wouldn’t mind each of them getting a shot at being a single.
So now that Backlash will be in Japan, are you going to the show?
Yes, I think we will organize a PWInsider trip and we can all attend the historic show. Seriously, this question was in reference to everyone’s least favorite cos play wrestling journalist seeing a tweet from an account on Twitter and “reporting” it as news. At least in this case, he later tweeted that fake story was “apparently a fake”. I can answer that for you Uncle Dave, it was a fake and you bit on it. Of course a real reporter would have checked the story out before “reporting” it but you are what you are.
I'm really enjoying the recent pairing of Lance Archer & Brian Cage in AEW. A couple of absolute monsters just pounding the piss out of everyone in their way. Old school, quick matches with some " Wow, that had to hurt " moments in there. And not for nothing, despite being heels, fans are cheering. It looks like many of them enjoy legit looking bad asses laying beatings as much as I do. So of course, are they just going to feed them to Private Party? The announcers were already alluding to that match.
If history is any indicator given how Tony Khan books big men, probably so. For reasons only he probably knows, if you a big, menacing man, he doesn’t know how to use you. It’s bizarre to me because you just outlined exactly how to use them.
Will they be a one and done challenger and once again be made to look inferior to guys half their size ?
Again, if history is any indicator….
Were Private Party were given a feel good win but won't be champs for long ? Do I dare hope that maybe Tony wants to actually get behind a monster team with two guys who can walk the walk?
Again, if history is any indicator….
If Tony were to book them strong long term, fans could/would be forgiving of all their bad booking. The reactions they are getting should be message enough. But, I know these questions are more than likely rhetorical as Tony's track record with big guys has shown.
That is the great thing about wrestling fans, they will give bad booking a pass. Vince McMahon was a really bad booker when he finally gave up the reigns and was put out to pasture. But, wrestling fans put him in their rear view mirror and the WWE product became much more popular. The same thing could happen to AEW if Tony stepped back and hired a competent booker.
