Why do you think Samantha Irvin chose to exit WWE the way she did, with such short notice and no fanfare, instead of going the "Kayla Braxton route" by giving sufficient advance notice thus allowing for a final goodbye moment on camera?
I honestly can’t say since I don’t know her. Her exit was pretty abrupt for sure, but only she knows why she decided to leave in such a hurried fashion. To me, it was a pretty sweet gig but clearly she felt differently.
Regard Samantha Irvin's recent WWE departure, I was surprised to hear she pushed to try different roles but was denied even the opportunity, especially with HHH now at the helm. They went to the extent of having her get somewhat involved in the Logan Paul/Ricochet feud last year, so that seemed like it was some sort of test I suppose. Did you ever hear rumors that she wanted to try something else but was flat out denied? The way WWE runs through non-wrestlers on their shows, I was surprised to hear they didn't give her something to try, such as a PPV pre-show to host at least once.
They have Jackie Redmond doing the pre-game shows and she is outstanding in her role. They also have Cathy Kelley, who is also really good. To me, it looks like WWE saw Irvin as a ring announcer and she wanted to do more than that.
I’m sorry to hear about Chris Bey's recent injury, but I was surprised to hear about an immediate GoFundMe campaign for him go up. Usually this type of thing pops up for long retired wrestlers who haven't worked in years. In 2024, Anthem Sports - which owns 7 other companies, doesn't have any type of health insurance for it's wrestlers once they get injured? I understand they aren't WWE or AEW, but this seems somewhat embarrassing for TNA - which is 22 years old now. Am I missing something?
I am not sure what Anthem will or won’t cover where Bey’s injury is concerned. While TNA has been around 22 years, they are not the profit making behemoth that WWE or backed by a deep pocketed billionaire like AEW. They are more like, say, MLW. When talents work in those kinds of promotions, they know what will and won’t be covered by the company. It’s horrible when talents get hurt, obviously.
Bobby Lashley looked like a million bucks debuting on Dynamite last night, as I figured he would. The man seemingly does not age. That said, Tony has once again showed his lack of booking prowess with that match. It should have been built to for more than a couple of weeks, and if there was a case to be made for a DQ finish, that match was it. I feel MVP could have interfered, post match brawl ensues with Lashley coming out then. Swerve is one of their top guys, a former world champion and he's taken a few high profile losses recently so he needs to be protected. Shelton, being the recently debuted signing, shouldn't be eating a loss this soon either, in my estimation. Lashley/Swerve should be a big deal and hopefully will be saved for a PPV. But with this " reformation " of the Hurt Business, it's already been established that Shelton is beatable, diminishing the group a little. Again, rushed booking by Tony. Thoughts?
I think you nailed the problems with Tony’s booking extremely well. It’s gotten to the point that I think there is fatigue about it. I used to get scads of questions about Tony’s bad booking but I think that people have just come to accept that Tony is what he is. It’s not that he doesn’t have the talent to put on a better product, he just doesn’t have the talent to build characters and tell stories and your example hammers that point home.
Would you be kind enough to explain to me what JBL is doing? Is he actually going to wrestle again or is he simply opening the door to wrestling synergies with AAA now that he is an "investor" (btw - is this a work or shoot?)?
I honestly don’t know if he will wrestle or not. He turns 58 years old later this month. If he does work, I don’t see him doing much. Clearly he is having fun though. Good for him.
