IT’S FRIGHT NIGHT! I wonder if Tony Khan will dress up like Leatherface again.
In the back we see the aftermath of the attacks on Chuck Tyalor last week by Mox’s team.
The show starts with Orange Cassidy coming to the ring with a mic and without entrance music. He tells the crowd not to chant for him and he doesn’t tell people he is a leader for ten minutes. But after seeing Chuck Taylor attacks last week, he was surrounded by the people he should have been. He was surrounded by brave people who were very, very young. He says they have no idea how dangerous Jon Moxley is. He knew at that moment what he needed to do.
He says if Jon Moxley gets his way, there will be no AEW. He needs AEW, and now he knows he needs to stop this and make sure nobody else gets hurt. He will do it on his own and challenge Jon Moxley for the world title. He will take it out of Mox’s bag and put it in his backpack. He tells Mox to let him know, he’s not hard to find.
Renee Paquette meets Mercedes Mone and Kamille as they come in and Mone says her prediction is that Kamille will win and doesn’t need luck.
Adam Cole vs Buddy Murphy
They shake hands before locking up. They tie up collar and elbow and Buddy forces them into the corner and break clean. They lock up again and go to the opposite corner and break clean again. They lock up again a few more times and Cole grabs a side headlock and Buddy whips him off and Cole gets a shoulder tackle and Buddy doesn’t budge. Buddy gets a shoulder tackle and Cole drops. They run the ropes and Cole keeps hitting shouler tackles and Buddy yells at him to come on.
The pace continues to be slow and deliberate. They move to waistlocks and then they try to get an attack in the corner. Cole drops to the floor off the apron and sells an ankle twist. Buddy gets a kick from the apron as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Buddy gets an avalanche superplex from the top, but Cole responds with a neckbreaker and both men are down. They brawl on the apron, and Cole gets a DDT and they both fall to the floor. When they get into the ring, Cole gets another DDT for two. Cole goes to the top and goes for the Panama Sunrise, but Buddy is able to block it and gets a series of attacks on Cole’s ankle. He then stomps on the ankle on the steel steps.
Cole is with the doctor and referee and ringside and Cole says he refuses to stop, and the doctor says he has to stop and starts bringing him to the back.,
Buddy says this proves he’s fragile, and the new Adam Cole is a little bitch. Cole storms to the ring and they throw hands. Buddy goes back to work on the ankle. Cole gets to his feet and tells Buddy to take the ankle and hits superkicks. He starts for the knee strike, but his ankle gives out and Buddy hits him with a leaping knee and then a curb stomp for two.
The doctor looks at his ankle again and Buddy grabs the towel and tells him to give up. Cole tosses the towel away and hits a series of kicks. Cole gets the running knee for two. Cole goes to the top and goes for the Panama Sunrise again, but Cole blocks it, and picks Cole up and tosses him into the turnbuckles. He gets a stomp and covers for one, but Cole kicks out and is up. We see MJF watching the match. Cole gets a superkick in the corner, hits the Panama Sunrise and Buddy goes to the floor. Cole gets another Panama Sunrise, this time on the floor. Cole rolls Buddy into the ring and gets the Boom Knee to the back of Buddy’s head for the pin and the win.
Winner: Adam Cole
Cole says he knows what Buddy did and he appreciates it. He awoke who Adam Cole really is and thanks him. They shake hands and the lights go out. When the lights come up, Black is the one shaking Cole’s hand. Cole is helped to the back by the doctor.
In the back, Renee is with Private Party and Christopher Daniels, and Daniels says they had the same issue with Frankie Kazarian, and he wants them to think about what they are risking tonight. Private Party says history will not repeat itself and they will leave Cleveland as the Tag Team Champions.
In the back, Cole is with the rest of Undisputed Kingdom, and he blames MJF for pretending that their friendship would ever work. He then goes over all of the people MJF betrayed. He says MJF needs to be taught a hard lesson, but it needs to happen because he cares about AEW. He says he will get his hands on MJF at Full Gear.
Kyle Fletcher in his new look and Don Callis has a mic. He tells the crowd Kyle has something important to say. Kyle says he is calling out Will Ospreay. He calls for Will to come out, but he doesn’t, and as he starts to speak, the Aussie Open music starts. Mark Davis, Kyle’s Aussie Open tag team partner.
Kyle goes for a hug, and Mark holds him off. Mark says Kyle is calling out someone who is home recovering, a man they called brother, and he doesn’t know who he is looking at. Kyle says Callis has helped him see the truth. He then says that Mark has a spot in the family. Mark says they had an empire and he destroyed it, and he turns to walk away.
Kyle says a day will come when he has to make a decision, and he has no problem cutting the past loose.
In the back, Renee is with Adam Page. Page says that in July, Jay White entered the Owen Hart tournament, and he knocked him out and he hurt White so bad he was out for three months. Page says there is no such thing as redemption. There are only wins and losses and the consequences from them. He says White will go for his leg, but White doesn’t know what his strategy is. Page talks about things he may do, but at the end of Full Gear, he will beat White, stand over him with his hand raised, leaving White with less than he had before.
Mox’s team is on their way to the ring.
Mox says that he doesn’t expect people to understand what he is doing. Mox says that Cassidy thinks he challenges him, but no, he challenged Cassidy and removed his friend to make him focus. Mox says he is pushing Cassidy and he hasn’t even started to push him yet. Mox says when they meet, he better be ready to face him in the valley because this ring is the valley he will die in. Cassidy said nobody’s gonna get hurt, but Mox says they will see about that.
Mox’s team grabs Yuta and Claudio grabs a chair to wrap around Yuta’s head. Cassidy runs to the ring to stop it, and Cassidy is attacked. Yuta joins in the attack on Cassidy. Dark Order hits the ring to save Cassidy and they are taken out easily. The chair is wrapped around Cassidy’s head.
Darby Allin From The Rafters!
Darby gets in some attacks, is tossed into the table but bounces back to fight. The locker room empties and they are able to drive off Mox’s team.
The Young Bucks music this and they get their big entrance after the ringside area is cleared. Private Party stay in the ring as the Bucks show up.
The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) AEW Tag Team Champions vs Private Party (Quen and Zay)
If Private Party loses, they must split up.
Zay and Nick get a quick series of one counts and Matt tags in so they can double-team Zay. Zay is kept in the Bucks’ corner with quick tags. Quen gets a blind tag when the Bucks whip Zay into the ropes. Private Party double team the Bucks and start diving when they are rolled to the floor. Everyone brawls on the floor and Private Party returns to the ring, rolling Nick into the ring. Matt pulls Zay out of the ring and tries to attack Zay with the ring bell.
Quen takes it away from him but accidentally nails Zay with the bell. Quen is returned to the ring and Nick works him over in the ring. Matt walks Zay to his corner and he is busted open. Matt slams Zay’s head into the ring step. Quen dodges a kick and Nick accidentally kicks Matt. Matt hits a falcon arrow on Zay from the steel steps to the floor and Nick hits a superplex on Quen for two as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Zay tags in and goes wild. The tag team siren goes off, and all four men are fighting in the ring, with Private Party getting the upper hand with superkicks. Private Party goes to the top for stereo 450 splashes for two. Nick is able to get a destroyer on Zay and the Bucks get sliced bread on Quen. The Bucks get the flying stomp power bomb for two.
Zay is left in the ring and the Bucks work him over and cover for two, broken up by Quen. Quen hits a series of dives on the Bucks on the floor. The Bucks turn it around with a big boot doomsday device on Quen and they drag him to the stage and leave him there. Kazuchoika Okada comes from the back and hits a pile driver on Quen.
Zay is left in the ring as the Bucks hit finishing moves for two counts. Zay is able to get a small package for two. The Bucks get an EVP trigger for two. They hit Zay with the V Trigger and the One Winged Angel, using Kenny Omega’s moves for two. Quen finally makes it to the ring and they hit the gin and juice on Nick for the pin and the win.
Winners and NEW AEW Tag Team Champions: Private Party
The Bucks put the titles on Private Party’s shoulders and Private Party celebrates with the crowd.
In the back, Renee is with Jamie Hayter and Penelope Ford for their match next week. Ford says she has been in AEW since day one and talks about all of the violence she has endured and she will take what she deserves. Hayter says she has been gone for two years and next week, she will mop the floor with ford.
Chris Jericho is with Large William and Bryan Keith and Jericho talks about how much his match last week was loved by people who give star ratings. He then gives the wrong city before being corrected as he puts himself over and says he will take Ring of Honor to the biggest success ever seen. When he’s done, William cheers for the camera, and Keith is threatening the crowd.
We get a video package about Anna Jay and how she has earned a title match on Collision.
In the back, Daniel Garcia and Jack Perry get into an argument and shove each other into the wall before Garcia says he’s coming for the belt and Perry makes fun of him for dancing. When they break, Garcia leaves and Perry heads into the Bucks’ dressing room where the Bucks are shredding documents.
Kamille w/Mercedes Mone vs Kris Statlander
They lock up and run the ropes and Kamille hits a big shoulder block. Kris is up and gets a drop-kick and Kamille misses an elbow drop. They fight in the ropes and Kamille gets a guillotine on the top rope as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Kris gets a power slam and then an F5 for two. Kris goes to the top and misses a 450 splash and lands hard. Kamille gets a guillotine leg drop for two. Kamille gets a torture rack power bomb for two. Kris reverses a pile driver into Wednesday Night Fever for the pin and the win.
Winner: Kris Statlander
Mone attacks Kris from behind with a belt, and Mone yells at Kamille to get to the back. Mone says if you want something done right, you do it yourself and stands over Kris holding the TBS title belt high.
We get a video package going over the feud between Hook and Christian Cage.
Cage is with Nick Wayne, Mother Wayne and Kip Sabian and he invites Hook to meet him next week so he can explain himself.
In the back, Renee is with Mark Briscoe and he says Jericho doesn’t care about his well-being since he brought up his brother again. He says the only reason Jericho won is that he had his people, and he has Kyle O’Reilly and TOmohiro Ishii and he challenges the Learning Tree in a fight about honor.
The Bucks are bailing and Daniels tells them they can’t leave when they are needed most. They say the place is too crazy and they will be working from home. They left so fast, they left Brandon Cutler behind to be attacked by Mox and his crew. They hold Christopher Daniels and make him watch and they go after Brandon’s hand with a hammer.
Swerve Strickland w/Prince Nana vs Shelton Benjamin w/MVP
They talk before locking up, and when they do, Benjamin drives Swerve into the corner. Swerve gets a side headlock and is shot off into the tops. Swerve throws hands and Shelton gets a waistlock takedown. Swerve gets a rope break. Swerve gets a spinning tejaris and Benjamin takes a pause to talk to MVP.
Shelton gets a belly to belly on Swerve, tossing him to the floor over the top rope. Swerve dodges being run into the ringpost and Swerve then wraps Shelton’s arm in his legs around the ringpost. Benjamin sweeps Swerve’s legs off the apron, rams him into the barricade and rolls him into the ring, tossing him over the top rope. Swerve gets a tiger feint kick and Benjamin nails Swerve with a knee, knocking him to the floor as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Benjamin gets a release German suplex. Benjamin gets a backdrop, but Swerve holds on and tries to get a half crab, but can’t. Swerve gets a spinning insigiri. We see Nana and MVP talking for a short time. Swerve gets a snap mare and a kick to the back of Benjamin's head. Swerve gets another kick and Benjamin goes to the floor. Swerve rolls Benjamin into the ring and gets a karate kick to the back of Benjamin's head for two.
Benjamin fights off a half nelson, but Benjamin is able to reverse it into an arm bar/wristlock. Benjamin is able to toss Swerve off when Swerve rolls him onto his back. Benjamin gets a front headlock slam for two. They trade kicks and strikes and Swerve gets a house call and goes to the top for a 450 splash for two.
Benjamin hits a deadlift German suplex and then hits a running knee in the corner, but Swerve hits a rolling DDT and both men are down. Swerve goes to the top and Benjamin joins him. Swerve escapes out the bottom and hits a Liger Bomb. Swerve then goes to the to for the Swerve Stomp for the pin and the win.
Winner: Swerve Strickland
MVP places a call as soon as the match is over, and the lights go out. They pop back on and the ring is hit with a spotlight. Bobby Lashley appears on the stage and the lights come up. MVP leads Lashley into the ring. Benjamin gets on the apron and Swerve drops him, which allows Lashley to beat down Swerve and MVP grabs Nana and holds him until he is taken out as well.
Referees and security try to hit the ring, but they are kept out of the ring by Benjamin and Lashley. MVP grabs a mic and yells “Guess who’s back in business!”
