Embracing Your Emotions: Why It's Okay to Have Bad Days

If you are human, you are certainly bound to experience bad days – and the hassle of trying to improve your mood when everything feels down. Sometimes, it is the most insignificant thing that gets us in the wrong mood, like spilling coffee on our clothes when we are already late for work. Maybe you missed out on a promotion offered by a top-rated online casino like VerdeCasino or got a flat tyre while rushing to an important event.  In other instances, circumstances led you to a rough patch and got you fired from a job, fighting with your loved ones, or receiving sad news. 

Regardless of the situation, no one loves crappy days! It is usually easy to let go of some things, but in the event of a series of unfortunate hiccups, they can easily ruin the entire day and take a toll on your mental state. While there's very little you can do to undo what led to the chaos, you can easily learn how to cope without breaking down. Having been in so many bad situations over the years, we can say these are some of the points that help us fight a bad day! 

It Is life

As already mentioned, everyone is bound to have a bad day! It doesn't matter your status or position in society, how much money you earn or have in your bank account, or how spiritual you are; bad days are totally normal. They are part of life. 

When you are feeling low or having a bad day, you can view it as normal as feeling happy. However, for some weird reason, when it comes to negative emotions, we usually want them to go away and act like they don't exist. This can be very dangerous. 

Bad and good days must exist for us to find the right balance. They are like the Yin and Yang – one cannot exist without another. Of course, these bad days or negative emotions don't imply mental health issues. That is a totally different conversation. But regular bad days, like when you spill coffee on your white shirt/blouse on your way to work, are completely normal. 

It's Important You Vent 

Whining and wallowing for days on end is something you should not allow yourself to do. Personally, when it reaches that point, we tend to fall into a pit of despair and hate everyone and everything around us. The end result is feeling miserable and mad. 

How do we deal with this? If we have a lot of things on our minds, we usually set a day or two to vent out with our partners. If you don't have a partner or someone who can hear you out, the best thing to do is visit self-help groups. You can even go to your local pub, disco, or bowling club and vent it to a stranger. You'll be shocked at how many people will be willing to hear you out. 

Bad Days Can Challenge Us

So, you have had a bad day, called up your best friend and had a very long conversation. Maybe you sent them a million and one sad and crying emojis! Maybe you've taken to social media and posted how bad your day has been, and you've gotten tons of replies from strangers! Now that you've stopped feeling bad for yourself, something brilliant will always happen, which will mostly challenge you to get things done. 

As a work-from-home mom, these bad days usually have a serious knock-on effect on our work schedule as we rely on ourselves to get things done. However, the strange thing is, even though we'll be in a bad mood, once it has cleared, we will always want to work like a horse. In fact, we tend to achieve more after a bad or slow day. 

This has always got us thinking that even though things are bad, we know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Anytime we feel down, we tend to focus more on what we can achieve once we get back in high spirits. Maybe wash our week's laundry, thoroughly clean, or play with our children? The list of things we achieve is usually long. 

It Helps You Find Strength

The last reason why it is acceptable to have a bad day is that you get the chance to learn how to find strength in your sadness. Having the ability to sit down by yourself and process the negative emotions is a sign of strength! These bad days are a perfect opportunity for you to build on this strength. As mentioned above, whenever we have a bad day, we focus more on what we can achieve afterward instead of thinking about what makes me feel down. If you learn how to master this, you'll realize that bad days can actually be a good thing and help you make meaningful changes in your life.
