It is Wednesday and Dynamite is in the Maverik Center in Salt Lake City, UT. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Matt Menard, and Tony Schiavone.
The show starts updating up on Jon Moxley’s team attacking everyone in AEW over the last weeks. Mox says a little piece of someone will be destroyed forever, for their own good. And for the greater good.
At the arena, a bunch of AEW wrestlers are waiting outside to meet Mox and his crew.
Tony Schiavone calls Adam Page to come to the ring for a chat. Page starts to talk about the people he has been attacking, and Colton attracts him in revenge for Page’s attack on Austin Gunn. They brawl around ringside and Page is able to get the upper hand and tries to use his belt to choke Colton. Jay White and Juice Robinson hits the ring to stop him. Page, who was limping to the ring, is limping more pronounced as he leaves the ring.
White says Page can’t hide and he can’t hide that his leg is injured. White says Page covers up his deficiencies with fire and blood, he can’t measure up to9Jay White. He says they will see each other again soon.
We get the Sammy Guevara video from Rampage about why he wants to face Shelton Benjamin. They add a promo from Shelton and MVP talking about their agenda in AEW.
Sammy Guevara vs Shelton Benjamin
The story of this match is Benjamin is HUGE and a powerhouse and Sammy’s got to use his speed and high-flying moves. Benjamin controls the opening of the match, and when Sammy goes for a dive, MVP simply stands in the way on the floor. Nothing flashy, nothing over the top, just standing in the way. I like it because it shows MVP as a smart manager instead of the crazy stuff like Mark Sterling and others do, and the contrast makes him stand out.
When they come back from the break, Benjamin is working over Sammy slowly and deliberately. Sammy gets a big series of kicks and a dive. Benjamin cuts him off with a superkick when Sammy leaps at him and from there, he gets an exploder into a power bomb for the pin and the win.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin
So, I guess the rebuilding of Sammy is over.
In the back, Renee Paquette interviews Mariah May, who has taken Anna Jay’s bag and tosses it down the hall and says Anna doesn’t deserve to be in the same locker room as her. Anna shows and they have a pull apart brawl.
We get a video recapping the feud between Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher. I like that they are adding these to the show. ANYTHING to make the show more welcoming to new viewers is a good idea.
Tony is in the ring again and Kyle Fletcher and Don Callis come to the ring. Don says Kyle has something to say, and the crowd is booing Kyle as he starts to speak. Kyle says he is here to talk to Will Ospreay. He says it’s been 11 days since he cost Will his title and 11 days since Will has been in the hospital with a herniated disc. He says the fans are just as much to blame for this as Will is. He was the one with the brightest future until Will showed up.
He says everyone compared him to Will and it drove him crazy. In 2021, he would have loved that, but now, he doesn’t. As the crowd heckles him, he says Callis has bought him all the TV time he wants, so they need to shut up and listen. He talks about all the people Will stabbed people in the back over time. He runs down Will and tells him he has to show up next week to show he gives a damn about the fans. He will then hit him repeatedly with Tiger Drivers to show he is the one and only protostar.
Kyle says if he was to be the top star, he can be nothing like Will. Callus brings out electric hair clippers and hands it to Kyle, who shaves his head.
He shouts “I am nothing like you!” over and over again.
We then get video hyping tickets, something that should have been done YEARS ago.
We then get Ricochet with Renee who says he is still chasing Takeshita, even if he had to go to Maple Leaf Wrestling to chase him. MVP shows and says while they have history, this is a time for new beginnings, and hands him a business card.
Don Callis joins commentary, but leaves when the bell rings.
Brian Cage and Lance Archer vs the Already In The Ring Two Guys Who Don’t Get Their Names Given.
Cage and Archer win quickly with their two-man power bomb. We are never told the names of whom they face. And the match ended before the one-minute mark.
Winners: Brian Cage and Lance Archer
Outside we see Chuck Taylor as an agent and he tells Orange Cassidy he needs to help in their war against Mox and his team.
Mark Briscoe (Ring of Honor World Champion) vs Chris Jericho — Ladder War
We have a broken table within minutes, tons of ladders around the ring and it’s just going to be built to the next big crazy spot. Briscoe puts Jericho on a ladder propped against the barricade, and then dives. Jericho moves and Briscoe lands on it. The ladder Jericho sets up in the ring is WAY too short to get the belt, so it’s gonna be more brawling. Briscoe is busted open as we go to picture in picture.
When we come back, Jericho has a ladder that is the right size for getting the belt. Briscoe hits a Death Valley Driver into a ladder in the corner. After hitting a senton on Jericho, Briscoe brings a table into the ring. They brawl on top of the ladder and then throw hands after they recover from that bump. Jericho is crotched in a ladder and Briscoe sets up the table in the ring. Excalibur says that Briscoe wants to punish Jericho for disrespecting his brother.
Briscoe moves the ladder so he can dive onto Jericho, but when he gets to the top of the ladder, Bryan Keith joins the fray, but Rocky Romero attacks Keith. Briscoe gets a froggie Bo (he misses Jericho) and goes through the tables. Briscoe gets a Jay Driller on Jericho, climbs to the top and Big Bill shows up to step him and choke slams him from the ring through the two tables at ringside.
Bill carries Jericho on his shoulders up the ladder and Jericho grabs the belt for the win.
Winner and NEW Ring of Honor Champion: Chris Jericho
Tomohiro Ishii shows up with Rocky Romero on the stage.
We then get a video recap of the feud between Kris Statlander and Kamille for their match next week
It’s all about the BOOM as Adam Cole comes to the ring. Roderick Strong, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett come to the ring to say they knew MJF was a jerk the whole time. Roddy says they always checked on Cole. They talk about how they have been a group for years. Roddy says he wants MJF first.
Cole says Roddy is right and MJF needs to come to the ring and get an Undisputed beating. MJF is on the big screen getting a massage. He reminds Cole he will never get their hands on him. He says that whoever gets three wins in a row first gets to face him at Full Gear.
Cole and the Undisputed Kingdom hug and are back together.
In the back, Kyle O’Reilly is watching and he’s NOT happy with what he sees.
We get a video of Penelope Ford’s reason why she is feuding with Jamie Hayter.
We then see Renee with Jamie, and Jamie says it is all BS. She worked her way up from nothing, She says she’s here looking for a fight and Ford is nowhere to be found. Two weeks from tonight, she challenges Ford to a match.
House of Black (Malakai Black, Buddy Murphy, and Brody King) vs The Already In The Ring Kevin Koa, Jaden Monroe, and Pirata De Le Muerte
Oh, THESE guys get names, but the two guys Cage and Archer obliterated don’t. It’s just not fair. If I were the two guys without names, I’d….probably do nothing because it’s not their job to have names. It’s their job to get slammed.
Oh, and these guys get beaten quckly as well. BUT AT LEAST WE KNOW WHO THEY ARE!
“Thanks for coming!” Matt Menard.
Winners: House of Black
Buddy Matthews says he is facing Adam Cole next week.
Renee is with the Undisputed Kingdom and Cole leaves to meet Buddy personally and confronts him. Buddy says he is doing it to prove one point. That Cole is fragile.
Kamille w/Mercedes Mone vs Queen Aminata
I don't agree with making this match. Kamille will be blasting through someone for her match next week, and Aminata has been looking good the last few weeks and is someone they could build into a bigger star from where she is now. Kamille is also someone they need to build as an unbeatable monster for her to be an intimidating bodyguard for Mone.
Aminata gets a flurry at the start of the match, and the tejaris she hits doesn’t look good at all. After Aminata gets a two count, Kamille takes over into the commercial. When we come back from the commercial break, Aminata is completely in control. The match is also a lot smoother when they get back from the break.
Kamille is finally able to get the crossroads for the pin and the win.
Winner: Kamille
Kris Statlander comes to the ring with a completely new look. She and Kamille go face to face and Mone gets in Statlander’s face. Mone tries to attack from behind, but Statlander shrugs it off, and her and Kamille throw hands. Mone distracts Statlander so that Kamille can take her out.
Outside, it’s become dark, and the crew is waiting for Mox. Instead, we get Christian Cage, Nick, and Mother Wayne. Cage sees Kip Sabian and chases him through the parking lot. They get to the ringside area he and we see Hook in the back. He tells Renee knows who attacked Taz and they are in the ring right now.
Hook hits Nick with a suplex and when he goes after Cage, Kip gives Hook a low blow. Cage says he knows what Kip has been up to and he needs to go to the corner. Cage nails Hook with the Contract holder and then Nick nails Hook with Wayne’s World.
Cage then hits the Killswitch on the contract case. Cage tells Hook it’s not what he thinks it is.
Private Party (Quen and Zay) and Daniel Garcia vs The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson) and Jack Perry
They all brawl before the ring with Private Party and Garcia in control. Garcia stomps down Perry in the corner as the bell rings and the match breaks down into a fight every so often. It’s a solid “Baby faces beat down the heels for revenge” start. We go to the parking lot to see the crew waiting for Mox’s team every so often. The Elite get a big move on the baby faces as we go to commercials.
When we come back, Stokely Hathaway has shown up and Zay is almost able to get the hot tag to Garcia, but Matt pulls Garcia off the apron at the exact moment needed. Garcia is put through the table in the timekeeper’s area, and Zay continues to take a beating in the ring. Zay finally gets the hot tag to Quen after taking out both of the Bucks at the same time.
The Bucks are able to take over after Quen’s flurry, and Garcia recovers to brawl with Perry at ringside. Quen is able to get a silly string into an inside cradle for the pin and the win.
Winners: Private Party and Daniel Garcia.
Zay says they have the Bucks’ number and want a rematch for the Tag Team Titles and the Bucks start up the ramp. Zay says if they lose a match for the title, Private Party splits up for good.
The Bucks agree.
Mox’s truck shows up, but only Marina Shafir is in it. In the ring, Claudio and Yuta attack Private Party with chairs in the ring. Mox brings Chuck Taylor down to the ring for a beat down as we are told Chuck’s career is over due to an ankle injury. Claudio wraps a chair around Chucks’ head and stomps on it.
Cassidy and the others show up in the ring too late, and Mox’s team leaves through the crowd. The Bucks and Jack Perry are watching from the stage.
