The Wrestling REVOLVER was back in front of a great crowd in the Epic Center in Grand Prairie, Tx, working with Metroplex Wrestling to present "Epic Over Texas", live on TrillerTv.
Veda Scott worked with MPX's Cody Cox worked commentary. They were okay.
Lince Dorado retained the WR Remix title over Ninja Mack in a pretty good, high flying opener. The stipulation Dorado chose (the champion's choice for each defense) was the N64 No Mercy Rules Infinite Specials rules. He didn't explain what that meant and neither did commentary, though Cox seemed excited by it. Dorado had help by one of his "kittens" (which confused Scott somehow) and pinned Mack with a Shooting Star Press, wearing the Remix title belt.
The Scorn (formerly Children of the Scorn, Gabe Wilder and Tommy Prince) defeated the Dub Club (KJ Reynolds and Ryan Matthias) making their debut for MPX and their second WR match.
Nice tag match between two young teams.
The Crew (Matthew Palmer and Rich Swann with a new, good looking haircut, minus Alex Shelley, who has moved on) heel the crowd and even try to fire the referee, Cedric. Cedric didn't take to some wrestlers firing him and got in Palmer's face with "Speedball" Mike Bailey and then Paul Walter Hauser making the...save.
In the only Women's action of the event, "Player One" Vert Vixen won a good match against Hyan, making her WR debut.
JD Griffey won a battle of former MPX champions, beating Barrett Brown with a rear naked choke. Griffey's a great heel.
Moose from The System in TNA won a 3 Way Hoss Fight over Jake Something and Texas favorite, Brick Savage. It was interesting watching Moose play the good guy here and Grand Prairie was definitely behind him. Very good heel work by Something.
Exodus Prime won a Sudden Death Scramble match over Braddah Kaimi, Dave Segan, hometown guy Tatum Manning, Delynn Cavens, and the gigantic Sam Stackhouse in the first match after the intermission All action match with everyone having their moments. Prime won literally by using Kaimi as a weapon on Stackhouse, dropping Kaimi in a cutter on top of Stackhouse and then an facebuster suplex, also on top of Stackhouse before pinning the big man.
Sky de Lacrimosa defeated Demo Diamond for the MPX Championship. This was solid but quickly turned into a No DQ match though it wasn't announced as one beforehand, which was weird to me.
They had the WR requisite doors with some plastic spoons and chairs thrown in.
A very fiery Fuego del Sol made his WR debut in a big way, challenging "The Inevitable" Ace Austin for the Wrestling REVOLVER championship. Very good match. del Sol talked about being the master of the Tornado DDT but he was showing a lot of skill with a variety of double stomps. Both guys were working face so it was a clean, tough, athletic match. Fuego's mask popped off as he was escaping a front face lock. Austin apologized and immediately gave him his mask back. Then hit The Fold neckbreaker after Fuego put it back on for the win. Good body language from Austin to get across he didnt take the mask off on purpose but was just taking advantage of an opening when it was back on. Code of Honor and Apology adhered.
Matt Cardona shows up on a big screen and he's Austin's challenger at the Dec 7th Season Finale show in Iowa. Good heel promo, as usual, from Cardona.
In the main event, TNA X Division champion "Speedball" Mike Bailey got his revenge on Matthew Palmer and Rich Swann of The Crew (Palmer attacked his wife, Veda Scott at the previous WR show), teaming with "Cobra Kai" star Paul Walter Hauser for the win by disqualification. I can't say I'm a fan of any of this PWH stuff but when the wrestlers were in, it was quite good. Bailey carried the action for his team, as expected. Bailey went to pin Swann with Palmer dragging the ref out of the ring and giving him a hard shove. That earned him a DQ (thank you). With the match over, both members of the Crew laid into Bailey and PWH with steel chairs.
WR owner Sami Callihan came out and said his main event wasn't going to end in a DQ and restarted the match, making it a Texas Tornado match AND he reinstated Cedric the Referee. Bailey and PWH get the pinfall win Bailey pinning Palmer by driving him through a door with a Flamingo Driver. Good finish.
Good show that was light on many of the more repetitive aspects of WR matches, which made it refreshing in that light.
The MPX talent looked pretty good.
The Real Uncle Dave grade: B (87 out of 100)
