Pro wrestling has entertained people around the world for many decades. Whether it was World Wrestling Entertainment (and its previous versions), New Japan Wrestling, or even Lucha Libre in Mexico, the high-flying acrobatics, charismatic personalities, and the storylines have captured audiences for generations. Some of the legends of today (which we will mention in this guide) have left a mark in the sport that will be talked about now and forever.

1. “Nature Boy” Ric Flair

His matches were competitive and thrilling, quite like a live casino game. Who better to kick off this list than the stylin’ and profilin’ 16-time world champion himself? His “wooooooo” catchphrase is iconic and he would talk highly about himself and his gang known as “The Four Horseman” and how they would conquer the wrestling world.

What you may not know is that Flair’s in-ring personality was something he also lived outside of the squared circle. He would be the life of the party and would have an entourage alongside him. As for whether or not he was a gambling man himself? It’s hard to say despite being known to be a night owl during his prime years.

2. The Rock

Many know him as Dwyane Johnson from his movies. Yet, many die-hard wrestling fans from the Attitude era and beyond remember him as “The Rock”. His family on both sides were in the wrestling business. Rocky Johnson was his father and his grandfather was High Chief Peter Maivia. Yet, many may not have known about The Rock’s football past.

He played defensive end for the University of Miami football team. Yet, he never went pro. Perhaps it was a blessing considering that soon after, he found his calling that was professional wrestling. And the rest as they say is history.

3. Jesse “The Body” Ventura

The Rock wasn’t the only pro wrestler that used his squared circle fame to act in movies. Jesse “The Body” Ventura was a wrestling superstar in the 1980s. Then he went on to star in action movies including “Predator” and “The Running Man”, both films where Arnold Schwarzenegger was his co-star. There are even slots found in live casino platforms that might be based on those films.

Of course, those outside of his home state of Minnesota might not know about his career after wrestling and acting. In 1998, Jesse Ventura was elected Governor of Minnesota as the Reform Party candidate. He only served one term and has talked politics ever since despite not running for another office.

Final Thoughts

Three pro wrestlers, three unforgettable careers, and three fun facts you now know about them. They all left an excellent legacy in their own rights during their career. They were risk takers, icons, and have each made memories that their fans continue to talk about today, even if it’s been decades since their last appearances in the ring (except for The Rock, who has made his return to WWE on a part-time basis).
