AEW DYNAMITE TITLE TUESDAY BLOG

By Cory Strode on 2024-10-08 23:00:00

It is Tuesday and Dynamite is in the Spokane Arena in Spokane, WA. Our commentary team is Excalibur, and Tony Schiavone.

We start with a video from Jon Moxley saying that Bryan Danielson has been trying to kamikaze himself for the last few years. He says that you don’t get to pick your final day, and he will be the one to take Bryan out. He says if you back Bryan into a corner, he becomes something dangerous and unleashes his dark side. Mox says he will do that and he has no choice but to do so. He and the ones with him are too powerful. He hopes that one day, Bryan will understand that it’s got to be this way.

We see a promo from Bryan Danielson how he will win tonight and he will beat Mox on Saturday. Bryan has supported Claudio for 20 years in whatever company they have been in and tonight, he will beat Claudio.

We go to the arena and Darby Allin calls out Brody King. King comes to the ring and Darby talks to him about how, when they were in the Indies and wondered if they could make it to TV and keep their integrity. He says that Brody called him looking for work and Darby told Tony Khan to hire him. He says they are so much alike, and Brody wants his spot. Darby is the one who does the interviews and the media appearances.

Brody says that Darby is trying to kill himself and when he dies on Mount Everest, who will be the foundation of the company.

They drop microphones and jack jaws until Darby slaps Brody and Brody drops him. Darby goes after Brody with a rock in his pocket and Brody is busted open. Security pulls them apart.

This was an odd promo for Darby, and almost makes him come off as the heel in this exchange. I think this one needed a LOT more time rather than a one-week build if they do have such a long history. The whole thing seemed to be a promo to soften Brody, putting him over as a father and grinding on the indies. Since Brody has been the Big Monster of House of Black and usually just talks in the riddles and vague promos of the House, it’s a big character change.

Jeff Jarrett has joined commentary during this promo.

Renee Paquette is with Jake Roberts and Lance Archer. Don Callis shows and says he and Jake have completed a talent transfer. Lance Archer is with Don Callis now. They leave with Archer shaking Jake’s hand. Renee asks Jake who he got, and Jake asks if she likes surprises. When Renee says yes, he says he does too and leaves.

Renee is in the parking lot as Daniel Garcia shows up and he says he will give his answer about his contract status in the ring.

Hologram vs Komander

I do not expect this to be a scientific match. Hologram has gotten over with his high-flying flashy moves, and Komander is much the same. They start with a lot of quick arm drags and quick takedown, almost echoing each other.  It’s clear that this is going to be a spotfest to get Hologram introduced to the Dynamite audience, as he has been having his matches on Collision.

Another big ad in Dynamite for DC Comics new line of comics, so we’ve got more synergy.

When we come back from commercial, we see Komander showing his balance and acrobatics with some amazing rope work. Komander starts to run the top rope and Hologram leaps to the top ropes, leaps and hits a power bomb on Komander in midair. Both of these guys get a lot of big, flashy moves as we move into the latter part of the match, and the AEW audience has always loved this stuff.

Hologram wins with an airplane spin into a slam for the pin and the win.

Winner: Hologram

Jake Roberts comes to the stage after the match and watches as Rush, Mortos, and Dralistico attack Hologram and Komander. Rush and Dralistico give the LIJ hand signal and after a pause, Mortos joins him. So, Jake is aligned with Los Ingobernables.

Jake is one of the unused assets of AEW as he can still cut a hell of a promo and has a presence. Let’s hope he doesn’t get shoved in the background. Rush can cut a promo, but having him as the mouthpiece for Mortos and Dralistico.

We then get a recap of the feud between Mark Briscoe and Chris Jericho, and this leads to Lexi Nair with Mark Briscoe. Mark gives a serious promo where he says Jericho messed up. This is not a place Jericho wants Briscoe to be at. He is going to Hurt Jericho.

Daniel Garcia comes to the ring.

Looks to be a more promo/story heavy episode as we have only had one match in the first half hour of the show. He teases that he is leaving, but says he is staying in AEW. He then says he’s not the same Daniel Garcia isn’t little bro’ed by everyone in the back and puts himself over as someone who changes everything in AEW and he starts with Gold around his waist, so if you have a title, be worried, he’s coming for you.

Garcia has the in ring talent, and he is starting to put together the promo skills, but will his push be consistent?  Will he give us more of a personality than a guy who is a great wrestler in a team?

We then get a recap of what is going on with Swerve Strickland and MVP.

Renee introduces Mercedes Mone and Kamille, and Mone tells her just to ask questions, not to use her intro. Mone talks about Emi Sakura and gives a super snarky promo.

Garcia is congratulated by people in the back, and Shibata’s phone tells him that when he wins the TNT title at Wrestledream, Garcia has the first challenge.

Mariah May joins commentary

Willow Nightingale vs Saraya vs Nyla Rose vs Jaime Hayter

Britt Baker is sick so we have this match to see who will face Mariah at WrestleDream.

The match quickly moves to two women in the ring at a time. Because it is a four way match, we are told it’s no DQ, so when Saraya gets her time in the ring, Harley Cameron joins in the fight. Early on we get a GREAT power move where Willow carries Nyla out of the corner, which looks impressive. Rose turns it into a hurricanrana, but it doesn’t change the fact that Willow has got some power.

Before the commercial break, Rose takes out everyone on the floor.  When we return to full screen, we’ve got plunder with a chair in the ring, tables outside the ring. Penelope Ford shows up and attacks Jamie Hayter with a chair, and Hayter chases Ford to the back. Nyla climbs to the top and Harley shoves her off and Nyla hits the edge of the apron on her way down.

Harley and Saraya get the table into the ring, but they don’t have time to set it up. Saraya and Harley double team Willow, but Willow is able to put Saraya through the table and pins both Saraya and Harley at the same time.

Winner and getting a title shot at WrestleDream: Willow Nightingale!

When Willow goes up the ramp, Mariah meets her there and gives her a headbutt and then whips her with the belt.

In the back, Chris Jericho and the rest of the Learning Tree find Rocky Romero and they want him to learn his self-esteem, and yet he’s brought into the Conglomeration long after the team formed. Jericho says he is a lackey for Orange Cassidy. He then says he will win the Ring of Honor World Championship.

Jay White w/Juice Robinson vs The Already In The Ring Cody Chhun

Jay gets to show that he’s back and gets a quick win.

Winner: Jay White

Jay White cuts a promo about how he wants to face Adam Page to correct the wrongs that were done to him before he was injured. He then says that the people who used to boo him and now are on his side and he wants Adap Page at WrestleDream.

In the back, Hook calls for whoever injured his father needs to show themselves now. Kip Sabian is behind him and begs off. Christian Cage, Nick Wayne and Mother Wayne show, and Cage says that he knows what Hook is going through because Killswitch is out with an illness. He then tells Hook he’s sorry about the loss of his father.

HE’S NOT DEAD YET!

Renee is with Mariah and Willow hits her with a pounce and cuts a promo about how she has beaten three former women’s champions and Saturday, she will make Mariah a former champ.  BIG pop from the crowd.

Mercedes Mone w/Kamille vs Emi Sakura

The quick promo that Emi cut about this being her 30th year in the business and hunting gold after rebuilding herself in Japan makes me wish this was more than a super quick one and done match.

Emi’s work is top notch here, and Mone is SO much better as the arrogant heel, and tells a fantastic story with her expressions and body language. The match itself is solid, but it is the little things that I like so much. Mone selling a tweaked knee, Emi is a powerhouse willing to do anything to win and able to fight off Kamille’s interference.

Emi does an incredible backbreaker after holding Mone in a vertical position for a long time. In the end, Mone gets the Statement Maker for the tap out.

Winner: Mercedes Mone

After the match, Mone holds Emi for an attack, but Kris Statlnder charges the ring and takes out Kamille.

In the back, Renee is with Private Party and Stokely Hathaway says they are missing just one thing, him. Quen asks where was he when they were struggling, and he can move on. Hathaway says they are making a mistake. Zay says they are making the right moves and then cuts a promo on how they will beat the Young Bucks.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring to interview Will Ospreay. Ospreay says that the odds for his match on Saturday are equal because Takeshita has been added to the match. He says Takeshita does nothing without Don Callis’s plans, so he calls out Callis. Callis comes to the ring and goes for a hug, and Ospreray holds him back.

Callis says that last week was hard for him emotionally, and that is when the crowd starts to boo Callis out of the building. Callis tries to talk about their past and Ospreay keeps badgering him about if he sent Takeshita to attack him.  Eventually, Callis says he did to show who makes the decision in the family.

Callis says that they  were close to winning the tag team titles, but Ospreay was too mentally weak to win. Ospreay says that no matter what he did for Callis, it wasn’t good enough and Callis doesn’t know crap about wrestling. Callsi says he threw the best wrestler in the world aside for him and now he may need to do it again. Ospreay says Callis is scum and they are done. Callus slaps Ospreay and Tony bails from the ring. Ospreay starts to go after Callis, and Takeshita. Kyle Fletcher comes to the ring to calm things down, allowing Takeshita to hit a suplex on Ospreay.

Callus hands a screwdriver to Fletcher and orders him to use it. Fletcher starts to bail and CVallis and Takeshita pull him back. Fletcher bails and Ospreay attacks Takeshita. He doesn’t last long as Callis and Takeshita drop him.

This brings out Ricochet, who goes after Takeshita.

In the back, Top Flight cut a promo about how they should have a match with the Bucks this weekend. Action Andretti starts berating them and Leila Gray says Andretti cost them the match. He storms off and Dante says Andretti is all action and no thinking and it is going to cost them.

Jack Perry cuts a promo about how he wants to face the fighter Shibata and not the guy whose phone talks for him. He then tells Shibata to come and take the title from him.

Bryan Danielson and Wheeler Yuta vs Pac and Claudio Castagnoli

Danielson comes to the ring to The Final Countdown.

Yuta and Bryan work in tandem as the match starts , putting over how well they work together as a team. Pac and Claudio have come to the ring alone, so as a viewer, you should be on the lookout for Mox and Marina Shafir. After an opening flurry, Bryan is the babyface in peril as he is worked over with quick tags ansd cutting the ring in half. Claudio is working hard to look like a madman when he is in the ring and in charge.

Yuta gets the hot tag and beats down Pac. When Yuta gets cattle mutilation on Pac, Claudio pulls him off and they have a confrontation, but Bryan breaks it up by hitting Claudio with a running kick. After the commercial break, Bryan is on the floor, unable to get on the apron and Yuta is fighting Claudio and Pac. Claudio tries to talk to Yuta, but Yuta keeps up the attack and then gets the hot tag to Bryan, who runs wild.

Any time Claudio and Pac get an attack from behind, Bryan is able to recover and take control again quickly. Mox and Shafir finally show up. Shafir distracts the ref as Pac grabs the ring bell hammer . Yuta grabs the hammer and Bryan gets the Labell lock and Pac has to tap out.

Winners: Bryan Daneilson and Wheeler Yuta

Bryan attacks Mox as they announce his victory. As Mox as Bryan fight on the stage and into the back, Shafir attacks Yuta at ringside. They then attack Yuta with the hammer in the middle of the ring as Clauidio lectures Yuta. Mox and Bryan fight back down the ramp and Bryan hits the right to take out Pac and Claudio. He leads a yes chant in the middle of the ring as we go to black.
