Is it possible WWE will keep the Network going now that they have TV deals in place?
Doubtful. WWE is seeking to shut down the WWE Network eventually. It is FAR more profitable to license their content elsewhere as opposed to owning and operating their own service, handling customer service, payments, etc. I loved the Network as much as anyone, especially the archives, but I totally understand why eventually it's going to sunset and disappear.
Whatever happened to Savannah Evans in TNA?
She is still with the promotion.
What do you think is your biggest accomplishment since starting writing about PWInsider?
Making sure the Vladimir: Superfan documentary was released. Everything else would be me waxing my own ego and no one cares about that. Knowing that I helped in some small way to get my friend's story out there so it was shared with countless others is far more important to me, so I'll go with that and ask everyone that hasn't seen it go watch it on Peacock in honor of Vlad! I will always be thankful I had the platform to gift him what he deserved.
I saw NBC is doing a new series titled Destination-X. Do you think TNA will sue over their old PPV name?
No, not unless the series is a pro wrestling series, which it is not. You can have different trademarks for different genres. See NWA the wrestling promotion and the rap group. Unless there is confusion in the marketplace, there won't be an issue and I don't think fans will see the series and Jeffrey Dean Morgan hosting and think of Mike Bailey vs. Zach Wentz or The Ultimate X match.
Was Ric Flair always supposed to be the Black Scorpion?
When the character was created by Ole Anderson, there was no set plan of who was going to portray the character. At one point, Dave Sheldon, who wrestling as Angel of Death in World Class and the UWF was going to do the role, but balked. Different performers including Al Perez and Bill Irwin would play the role on house show events, while WCW often hired magicians to do stunts at televised shows. Ole performed the voice of the character. In the end, with no other ideas, it was down to Barry Windham, Arn Anderson or Ric Flair with Flair finally being tapped and revealed as the "real" Scorpion in a probably the only truly bad Flair vs. Sting match ever, as Flair worked a different style so as not to reveal himself.
Was there ever consideration to Jimmy Snuka being WWE Champion?
There was consideration. In his autobiography, Bob Backlund recounts a story where Vince McMahon Sr. wanted his feedback on the idea of making Snuka champion. Obviously, it didn't happen.
