ROH Episode 82 Review: “ROH, Where the Baddest Rumble”

Well, Shane Taylor ROH is the home of many things but I do not believe it is where the baddest rumble. Anyway in typical ROH fashion, we only saw two champions on this show and a bunch of squashes. Happy Thursday everyone, let’s review!

ROH World Television Championship Proving Grounds Match: Red Velvet vs Allysin Kay:

This match was great, and I am so happy we are out of the Texas tapings! I wish they would put Velvet in an actual feud to legitimize the title instead of putting her in proving grounds matches week after week. Also, place Kay on ROH more!

Winner: “And Still” Red Velvet

They showed a promo package for the tag team proving grounds match later in the night which was a nice touch.

Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona) vs Dante Leon and Trip Jordy:

Welp, it only took us 10 minutes to get to our first squash of the night.

Winners: Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona)

Brandon Cutler vs Preston Vance:

Before the match, Cutler said that this was a gift from the EVPs to award their most decorated member of the roster with a match. Vance interrupts him and Cutler says that the match can not start without the Code of Honor, and Vance slaps him. This match didn’t last long, Vance got the win after destroying Cutler.

Winner: Preston Vance

OutRunners Promo:

Magnum and Floyd call out The Iron Savages for attacking them from behind last week and say that they will take them on anytime and anywhere.

John Silver vs KM:

Sigh, another squash.

Winner: John Silver

Josh Woods Promo:

Sterling hypes up Woods with all of his accomplishments. Woods calls out the entire roster and says he is looking for a fight and he is willing to do it anytime and anywhere.

Rachael Ellering vs Maggie Lee:

And another one…

Winner: Rachael Ellering

The Infantry (Carlie Bravo and Shawn Dean) vs Angelico and Serpentico:

Finally, an actual match on the episode. These two teams should be fighting for the ROH Tag Team Championships, as they are constantly on ROH every week. The Infantry has a bright future ahead of them and I can not wait to see them more on AEW programming hopefully soon. The two teams celebrated at the end for having a great match in front of the South Dakota crowd.

Winners: The Infantry (Carlie Bravo and Shawn Dean)

Anthony Ogogo vs Kit Sackett:

Sadly, we are back to squashes.

Winner: Anthony Ogogo

Brian Cage vs Deonn Russman:

Thankfully this was our last squash of the night.

Winner: Brian Cage

Shane Taylor Promotions Promo:

Ogogo is excited to be back in ROH after coming back from Paris and watching everyone win gold. He says that he is now after gold, and Taylor agrees. He says Shane Taylor Promotions is going to take all the gold and AEW might be where the best wrestle, but ROH is where the baddest rumble.

ROH Tag Team Championship Proving Grounds Match: Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara vs The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds and Evil Uno):

The one thing I liked about this is how Reynolds kept feeding into the 10 minute rule in Proving Grounds Matches, meaning that all they have to do is last 10 minutes and they would get a championship opportunity. However, the champions were in this match to win and prevent Dark Order from getting a championship match. This match had the crowd going the entire time as they were happy to see the ROH Tag Team Champions actually on ROH. After Guevara and Rhodes got the win Dark Order, Gates of Agony, and Brian Cage attacked them.

Winners: “And Still” Sammy Guevara and Dustin Rhodes

Overall:

I am just happy we are done showing matches from the Texas tapings from almost two months ago. As I said every week there were the same problems on this week's show as there are on every week's show. No champions, no storylines, and a bunch of short matches that are going to lead to nowhere. Here is hoping that next week is better.
