Puck, a premium newsletter for the entertainment industry, featured a report tonight on money that Warner Bros. Discovery head David Zaslav is starting to spend after saving it on the $1.5 Billion NBA deal that didn't happen, including All Elite Wrestling.
Their report notes that AEW's deal with WBD is "close to finalizing a package" and a formal announcement "could come as soon as next week, barring any last-minute challenges." Next week would coincide with AEW returning to Arthur Ashe Stadium in NYC, which usually has WBD reps in attendance.
Puck's report cites that "it looks like it will be a four-year deal (three years guaranteed, plus an option)" with AEW broadcasts on "TNT, TBS and TruTV."
The report stated the broadcasts would be "twice a week" but did not give further explanation of what that meant or whether there would be any changes to the current AEW programming lineup.
They also cite that a $170 million per year number is "apparently in the ballpark" and that "AEW is also pitching another package, primarily to broadcast channels."
The Puck report did not include any details on if the expected new WBD would include AEW's monthly PPV broadcasts in any way, shape or form.
PWInsider.com has reached out to AEW for comment and will update if they respond.
