TNA IMPACT ON AXS TV REPORT

Welcome to PWInsider.com’s TNA iMPACT! coverage for September 12, 2024. Scheduled for tonight's TNA iMPACT! on AXS TV and TNA+ is:

The episode starts off with a recap of last week - the set up for the contractual rematches that The System received for tomorrow’s Victory Road PPV, Jordynne Grace’s Open Challenge, JDC officially becoming part of The System, and Josh Alexander attacking Joe Hendry.

Hammerstone vs. Steve Maclin

Hammerstone’s NXT appearance is shown and talked about during his entrance.

They lock up and Hammerstone gets shot into the ropes. He comes off of them and hits a tackle on Steve Maclin. Hammerstone hits some strikes in the corner. Maclin reverses it and hits some chops. Hammerstone takes back the advantage. They run the ropes and duck each other’s strikes before Maclin lands a strike that makes Hammerstone hit the mat.

Maclin gets in some shots and a short range clothesline for a two count. Hammerstone powers up and drives Maclin into the corner. He drives him into the opposite corner and hits some shoulder strikes followed by a Spinebuster. Hammerstone waits for Maclin to get up and chops him. Maclin falls into the ropes and Hammerstone chokes him with his leg over the second rope.

Hammerstone throws and follows Maclin into the ropes with knee strikes twice. He then hits a side suplex for a two count. Hammerstone locks in an abdominal stretch that Maclin elbows out of. Hammerstone deadlifts Maclin and dumps him over his head to the mat.

Hammerstone almost gets in the Torture Rack, but Maclin wiggles out and then blocks some running strikes with an elbow and a boot. Maclin shoots off of the ropes with a running strike and then hits a backbreaker. With Hammerstone in the corner, facing the turnbuckles, Maclin gets in some shots on his back.

Maclin hangs Hammerstone in the Tree of Woe and then hits a big running strike on him. He brings Hammerstone into the center of the ring and tries to hit the KIA, but Hammerstone reverses out of it and hits a powerslam. Maclin ducks a clothesline and hits one of his own on Hammerstone, which sends them both outside. Maclin gets back into the ring and immediately hits a dive on Hammerstone. He throws Hammerstone back into the ring and goes to the top rope. Hammerstone stops his progress and joins him on the ropes. Hammerstone hits an Overhead Belly-to-Belly Suplex. Both men are slow to get up.

Maclin goes for a knee. Hammerstone ducks and Hammerstone drops Maclin. He goes for the Nightmare Pendulum, but Maclin wiggles out and rolls Hammerstone up for the win!

Winner: Steve Maclin

Hammerstone attacks Steve Maclin from behind after the match. He gets Maclin up in the Torture Rack until Eric Young comes out to make the save. Young clears the ring of Hammerstone and Jake Something comes out. Hammerstone and Something stare at each other and it looks like they are in agreement that Eric Young and Steve Maclin are their common enemies.

The System are in the back. Eddie Edwards talks about how everyone was hoping for a System Failure, but they got a System Reboot. Brian Myers says that they’ll be taking out The Hardys tonight. Moose talks about winning back the title from Nic Nemeth.

Steve Maclin and Eric Young are in the back. Maclin says that Young has shown him a lot of respect over the last few weeks and thanks him. Young reciprocates the respect and talks about his displeasure with Hammerstone and Jake Something. He says that Hammerstone and Jake Something will see him and Steve Maclin at Victory Road.

Heather Reckless vs. Gisele Shaw

They shake hands and circle each other before locking up. Gisele Shaw throws Heather Reckless down. They lock up again and Shaw grabs a headlock. Reckless tries to throw her off, but Shaw locks it in tighter. Reckless elbows out of it, but falls to a tackle by Shaw. They run the ropes and Reckless gets a roll up for a one count. Reckless tries some more quick pins, but Shaw kicks out. Shaw slows things down with a kick to the gut.

Reckless hits a headscissor and tries to use her quickness, but Shaw grabs her and hits a big slam for a two count. Shaw hits a couple of chops and a running elbow in the corner. She follows it up with a running elbow in the middle of the ring for a two count. Shaw locks in a chinlock. Reckless strikes out of it and hits a spinning DDT. 

Ash by Elegance and The Personal Concierge walk to ringside to get a closer look at the action. 

Reckless and Shaw exchange strikes in the center of the ring. Reckless hits a crossbody and then a drop toe hold. Reckless hits a moonsault for a two count. Reckless tries to hit a Monkey Flip, but Shaw catches her. Reckless turns it into a Canadian Destroyer for a two count. They get up and Reckless hits some quick strikes. She goes for a Cutter, but Shaw blocks it and hits a Spinebuster. Shaw hits Shock and Awe for a two count.

Shaw goes to the top rope, but is distracted by Ash as The Personal Concierge has the attention of the referee. Ash slaps Shaw, allowing Reckless to hit Recked for the win!

Winner: Heather Reckless

Ash by Elegance mocks Gisele Shaw as Heather Reckless celebrates her win.

A “Coming Soon” video is aired for (formerly known as) Xia Li.

Matt Cardona comes out. When he gets to the top of the ramp, he gestures to the back and Steph De Lander begrudgingly comes out. De Lander holds the ropes open for Cardona as he enters the ring.

De Lander starts to talk into the microphone, but Cardona grabs the mic and says, “I do the talking around here.” He says that Santino Marella has it out for him. He just came back from a life threatening injury. He says that Santino thinks that his first match back should be at Victory Road in a tag team match against Rhino and PCO. He says that he gets to pick his tag team partner and it will be…Steph De Lander!

Cardona warns her about helping PCO at Victory Road. If she doesn’t do exactly as he says, he’s sending her back to Australia. PCO’s music hits and he walks to the ring. When PCO enters the ring, Cardona grabs De Lander and holds her in front of him for protection. She low blows Cardona with her leg and PCO hits a chokeslam on Cardona. PCO and De Lander hug.

Spitfire is in the back. Dani Luna questions Jody Threat about their stipulation at Victory Road. Gia Miller joins them and questions them about their having to break up if they don’t win the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Titles. Jody Threat talks about how they have been fighting and it’s time to lay everything out there. Luna and Threat agree that it’s “do or die” tomorrow night.

TNA Tag Team Champions ABC vs. First Class - Tornado Match

The bell rings and the teams stare each other down. The ABC uses their quickness to get First Class on their heels. They dump KC Navarro to the outside and then are able to dump AJ Francis out there, too. Chris Bey hits a dive on AJ. Ace Austin follows that up with a double stomp on AJ.

KC is thrown into the ring and The ABC double team him with stereo dropkicks. Austin goes to the outside to focus on AJ, while Bey works on KC in the ring. AJ gets the advantage on Austin on the outside. Bey goes to help, but AJ disposes of him, as well, giving First Class the advantage on the outside.

KC slams Austin’s head on the steps. AJ slams Bey onto the ring apron and then grinds down his forearm on Bey’s head. All four men enter the ring and First Class work over The ABC in opposite corners. First Class celebrate their advantage and AJ hits running knees on both members of The ABC. KC attempts to do the same, but Bey moves. KC and Bey struggle for control on the outside, but KC is able to win the struggle - pulling Bey into the ring apron and then hitting a double stomp on Bey’s ribs.

Austin then gets double teamed in the ring. AJ slams KC onto Austin for a one count. Bey tries to get into the ring, but is stopped by KC. AJ powerbombs KC onto Austin for a two count. Bey is stopped from entering the ring again - getting his ribs worked over.

Bey finally is able to get a shot in on AJ and climb to the top rope. He hits a clothesline from the top on KC and Austin works on AJ in the corner. They hit a tag team combo on KC for a pin, which AJ breaks up. The ABC tries to suplex AJ, but he blocks it. They turn it into a double knee strike and then are able to hit the double suplex.

KC rolls Bey up for a two count. Bey kicks KC out of the ring. Bey goes for the Art of Finesse on AJ. AJ catches him, but Bey turns it into a cutter. Austin hits The Fold on AJ for the win!

Winners: The ABC

A video for Jonathan Greshem is shown. It speaks about the battle between Greshem, the wrestler, and the darkness behind the mask that he wears.

Joe Hendry comes to the ring and calls out Josh Alexander. Alexander comes out in the second level of the arena, refusing to come to the ring. Hendry says that he has prepared “The Josh Alexander Story,” which is a music video making fun of Alexander not smiling, looking like both Jesse Pinkman and Walter White, and being Kurt Angle from Wish. The crowd chants “You Suck” at Alexander.

Alexander says that he has nothing to smile about. He should be the one representing TNA instead of Hendry. He’s done everything the right way, while Hendry is popular because of his viral videos. Alexander is going to dismantle Hendry at Victory Road, which will make him smile. After that, everyone will chant “Walking Weapon.” Hendry says that he saw a sign that says “Walking Weiner,” which the crowd chants.

Alexander says that Hendry just dug his grave a little bit deeper. At Victory Road, the fans will get to see what a real professional wrestler looks like. Hendry talks about traveling the world and making believers. Alexander sounds like Hendry’s critics, but you know who does believe in him - the fans! And they’ll continue to believe at Victory Road.

Jordynne Grace’s appearance on NXT is shown and talked about.

Jordynne Grace approaches Ariana Grace in the back. She says that Ariana and others are welcome in TNA, but Wendy Choo is not. Ariana promises that nothing bad will happen at Victory Road. Jordynne says promises mean something in TNA.

Mike Santana is in the back. He says that he doesn’t have to talk about his accomplishments like others do. Everyone knows who he is. His sights are set on the World Title. He gives credit to Nic Nemeth and what he’s been doing, but he wants Moose to win the title. He wants to make Moose suffer and take the title from him.

Ash by Elegance vs. Xia Brookside

The Personal Concierge trashes Louisville and then introduces Ash by Elegance.

They jaw at each other and then lock up. They break and lock up again. They break again and go to lock up again, but Ash by Elegance ducks under and drops Xia Brookside. Xia gets up and returns the favor. Ash gets up and Xia blocks a slap. She gets in a couple of strikes and then hits a headscissors from the corner, followed by a crossbody for a two count.

Ash gets up and slaps Xia. Xia tries a roll up, but Ash blocks it. Ash tries to drop down on Xia, but Xia moves. Ash complains about her butt hurting. Xia gets tripped up by The Personal Concierge, giving Ash the advantage.

Ash works Xia over in the corner, including payback to the butt area. Ash locks in a choke, which Xia is able to get out of quickly. Xia hits a couple of running strikes and then locks on the Octopus. Xia hits a Side Russian Leg Sweep for a two count. Xia Irish Whips Ash into the corner and hits Broken Wings twice.

The Personal Concierge distracts Xia and pulls Ash out of the way of Xia’s corner attack. As the referee admonishes The Personal Concierge, Heather Reckless runs out and pulls Xia into the post, allowing Ash to get the win!

Winner: Ash by Elegance

Nic Nemeth is in the back. He talks about Moose going to social media instead of asking for a rematch face-to-face. Nemeth talks about how Moose used to be the best - now, he’s just the rest.

Ash by Elegance and The Personal Concierge are in the back. Heather Reckless joins them. The Personal Concierge says that he liked what Reckless did, but doesn’t like the way she looks. Ash says she didn’t mind the help. The Personal Concierge gives Reckless a card for a makeover.

KUSHIDA vs. Leon Slater has been added to the Victory Road Pre-Show.

The Hardys vs. First Class has been added to Victory Road.

The Hardy Boyz vs. Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers

Brian Myers and Matt Hardy start things off. They lock up and Matt pushes Myers into the corner for a break. Matt hits a tackle on Myers and then works over his arm. Jeff Hardy tags in and The Hardys double team Myers’ arm.

Matt exits and Jeff continues working over Myers’ arm. Jeff drags Myers down hard for a two count. Matt is tagged and he continues to work over Myers’ arm. Eddie Edwards tries to run in, but Matt thwarts the attack. He goes back to working Myers’ arm until Myers elbows out of it. He tags in Edwards.

Edwards comes in and takes control of Matt. He hits a chop in the corner and a headbutt. He runs the ropes and Matt hits a tackle. He tags in Jeff. Matt holds Edwards on the ropes, while Jeff hits him. Edwards is able to fight off Jeff’s attack and tag Myers in.

Myers comes in and charges at Jeff in the corner. Jeff moves. Edwards comes in and both he and Myers are in the corner. The Hardys hit Poetry in Motion. The System goes to the outside and Jeff hits a dive from the apron on them. He sends Myers back into the ring.

Edwards holds Jeff as he enters the ring, allowing Myers to get in a strike and take control. Myers throws Jeff to the outside and distracts the ref. Edwards attacks Jeff on the outside. Matt chases Edwards, but can’t catch him. Jeff is dragged back into the ring and Myers locks in a chinlock.

Jeff is able to get out of the hold, but is tackled down by Myers. Edwards tags in and lays in kicks on Jeff. Edwards hits an elbow on the mat and then lays in some punches. Myers tags in and works Jeff over in the corner. He snapmares Jeff and lays in a kick to the back for an arrogant pin that Jeff kicks out of. Edwards distracts the referee while Myers chokes Jeff with his shirt. He follows that up with a choke on the ropes.

Myers locks in a headlock, but Jeff fights out of it and is able to tag Matt in. Matt comes in hot and tackles Myers. He drives Myer’s head into the turnbuckle multiple times and then hits a running clothesline. Matt hits the Side Effect. Matt hits an elbow from the second rope for a two count. Matt calls for the Twist of Fate. He goes for it, but Myers pushes him off. Edwards gets his knee up at the ropes and Matt chases him to the outside. Edwards hides behind Alisha, allowing Myers to hit a baseball slide on Matt. Edwards is tagged in.

Edwards chops and works over Matt on the outside. Matt is thrown back into the ring and Edwards lays in some punches on the mat. Matt tries to fight back, but Edwards pokes him in the eye. Myers tags in. He hits a Side Russian Leg Sweep for a two count. Edwards is tagged in.

Edwards drives his knee down on Matt a couple of times and then slows down the pace by locking in a facelock. Matt tries to fight back and almost tags in Jeff, but the referee is distracted and Matt doesn’t get the tag. Myers tags in and locks in a headlock.

Matt fights out of it, but Myers hits a Belly-to-Back Suplex. Myers sets up for a Spear, but Matt is able to block it with a punch. He is able to tag Jeff in. Edwards tags in, too. Jeff comes in hot and hits a bunch of running strikes on Edwards. Myers breaks up a pin and tries to help Edwards, but Jeff hits him with a Whisper in the Wind.

Jeff hits Twist of Fate on Edwards. Jeff goes to the ropes, but Edwards grabs his leg. Myers drops Matt from the apron and hits a Spear on Jeff. Edwards covers Jeff for a two count. The System sets up for The System Overload, but Matt breaks it up. He hits Myers with a Twist of Fate while Myers was on the top turnbuckle. Jeff hits a Twist of Fate on Edwards. Matt does, too. Jeff hits the Swanton Bomb on Edwards for the win!

Winners: The Hardys
