FORMER WWE DEVELOPMENTAL TALENT MIKE TAYLOR PASSES AWAY

By Mike Johnson on 2024-09-12 11:51:00

PWInsider.com is sad to report that Michael Sharrer aka former WWE developmental talent Mike Taylor, passed away overnight at the age of 47.

A former Marine and amateur wrestler, Sharrer was signed to a WWE developmental deal in 2006 and trained and performed for then-WWE developmental territories OVW and Deep South Wrestling as well as appearing in enhancement roles on WWE programming in that era from time to time.  During that era, Sharrer also performed motion capture material for several WWE video game releases.

Former WWE star Mike Mondo paid tribute on his Facebook page, writing, "This one isn’t easy. Still doing my best to process this. Mike Taylor was the first friend I made in OVW which carried over into a close friendship/brotherhood for the next 20+ years. We were just texting a couple weeks ago. You always looked and treated me like your younger brother. You’ve always had a huge heart. I’m grateful for all the great times we had in Louisville & of course the countless shoots on the west coast doing mocap. Those memories will last forever. I pray for Mikes family during this difficult time especially his kids Isaiah & Mina. I love you Big Mike. A-team for life. RIP buddy."

Sharrer was released in 2007 and from that point on, shifted over to mostly using the ring name Micah Taylor in 2007, although at times he also used the ring name Sandy Beach (specifically in Japan and Hawaii, where Sharrer was originally from) not to be confused with 1980s WWF talent Rick Allen, who used that name during his own career.  Taylor was a regular precense on Southern independents in Georgia, Mississpi and Alabama for years.  As Sandy Beach, he toured Japan for ZERO-ONE and internationally, worked events in the UK, Korea and many other countries,

Sharrer last wrestled in 2002.

PWInsider.com sends our deepest condolences to the family, friends and fans of Michael Sharrer aka Micah Taylor.
