8/18 FSW VS. HOUSE OF GLORY REPORT

By David Houston on 2024-08-26 09:39:00

Live on Triller.tv, on Aug 18, House of Glory continued their biggest year ever with another co-promotional show, this time with the Las Vegas-based Future Stars of Wrestling in FSW Vs. HoG: Winner Takes All at FSW Arena in Vegas.

I didn't get the commentary team's name but they kept going to them on camera but it felt like the camera on them was whatever is lower than SD while the rest of the show was in HD.

They open with a 4 Way match with Bodhi Young Prodigy outlasting Dante King, Fox Valentine and HoG's Daron Richardson.   Fast paced, athletic but not the smoothest match. They're all very young. Come back with these same 4 in 3 yrs and it would be a match of the night, closing out a show.

Former FSW champion Shogun defeated Thugnificent.  Nice match. Thug popped me when he assumed the position as if the ref was a police officer for the customary patdown.  I wasn't familiar with either and came away wanting to see more.

Kenny King was victorious in an entertaining 3 Way match over FSW alum and fan favorite TNA star Jai Vidal and the extremely promising Richard Adonis, returning to FSW for the first time since September.

FSW champion Danny Limelight got a win over HoG champion Mike Santana by disqualification in a Title vs Title match.  A match up of former members of two different iterations of LAX (Santana in the second version in TNA, Limelight in MLW in the 3rd that morphed into 5150).  Limelight was the home guy but worked heel, making it easy for the crowd to get behind Santana.  Good match.  Santana went for his Spin the Block roaring lariat when Limelight put the ref between them, allowing the ref to eat the clothesline.  Limelight went to hit Santana with the FSW title belt, missed and then he ate the STB lariat. A second ref rushed in and counted the fall. NEW CHAMPION!!  Nope! The original ref recovers and disqualifies Santana for illegal contact with him. DUSTY FINISH IN 2024! Dq'ing Santana didn't make sense but they found a safe way to not do a change and get heat on the heel Limelight. I was amused.

FSW champion (W) Mazzerati successfully defended her title in a win over Legacy Pro champion (HoG's sister developmental promotion) Diamond Virago.
I've seen a bit of Virago on HoG shows and she's generally okay but rough.  It's to her credit for continuing to improve and to Mazzerati for leading her into the best Virago match I've seen yet.  It wasn't great but it was pretty solid. Mazzerati looked great, strong ring general, winning with a step up Fame-asser.

The Mane Event (Jay Lyon and Midas Black, who I don't think commentary named correctly), who just recently lost the HoG tag titles, got a bounce back win over the Unguided (Damian Drake and Matt Vandagriff), reuniting in FSW for the first time in nearly a year.  Good tag match. I've never seen the Unguided before they were impressive in with the always impressive TME.  Commentary was shaky on TME's names but they definitely understood their resume (wins over the Briscoees, Motor City Machine Guns, Grizzled Young Veterans and others in the past year).

Great main event with FSW Mecca champion (and one half of TNA World tag champions the ABC) "The Ultimate Finesser" Chris Bey beat House of Glory founder and a true wrestling pioneer in Amazing Red in a battle of former TNA X Division champions.  Bey was continuing a subtle theme of the hometowners working heel/heel ish. That surprised me.  3 min in, Red hit a dive on Bey that lauched them into the first and second row of seats and had me on my feet.
I don't think I knew Red could chop like that. Bey kept engaging him in chop exchanges and kept losing.  Red is neck and neck with Jeff Jarret for my Comeback of the Year vote for 2024.  Bey puts Red away with a clothesline and his Art of Finesse cutter to close out a great match that was stiffer and more physical than I expected.

Code of Mutual Respect adhered to after the match.

Good show. Ran just over 2 hours so it didn't overstay it's welcome.

The Real Uncle Dave grade: B (90 out of 100)
