How does it make any sense that FTR gets a number contender match by blatantly causing a disqualification in The Bucks vs. The Acclaimed match?
It makes no sense at all, especially when babyfaces FTR screwed babyface The Acclaimed in the process. It’s just another instance where Tony Khan shows the world that he is a terrible booker.
I wrote this question after Raw on 8-12, after the Punk/Drew angle, is it a safe bet that their next match is a strap match?
We should find out tonight but that was my take as well. Beat a guy with a belt and a strap match is the next logical step to me.
What’s your take on the term “Internet Wrestling Community” or IWC for short? I’ve never heard such a name that over-inflates the importance of a fan base. Taylor Swift’s hardcore fans are swifties which is cute but “Internet Wrestling Community?” Jeez! I’m not knocking the passion for wrestling’s most hardcore fans, like what you like. They probably spend a lot of money on merch. But the IWC isn’t primarily packing arenas for WWE’s shows. They’re not giving the mega reactions for all WWE’s stars. That’s the “casual” fans doing that, a term that undervalues the importance of those fans as well. Am I on the money with this or am I being too cynical about the “Internet Wrestling Community?”
I have always thought the term was masturbatory back when it started. It screams “look at us” like dopes that post on message boards better than fans that just enjoy the product and don’t obsess over it like those people did. Now? It’s just stupid. Almost everyone has a phone with internet.
Can WWE get even bigger? As good and big time as Summerslam was, there were so many top stars who didn’t wrestle or weren’t advertised. Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Jey Uso, Roman Reigns! John Cena! The Rock! I guess that’s why Summer Slam is going to go to two nights in 2026?
Under Vince McMahon, I think the company was limited (by him and his ideas). I always said that while he was making money, he was leaving some on the table as well. Endeavor is showing that I was correct because they are growing the company almost daily. There is a lot of growth left ahead, like finding more partner cities for events or, as David Baldini suggested on our show last week, making The Royal Rumble a two day event with the men’s and women’s Rumble matches headlining a night. Yes, there is definitely still room to grow as long as the creative stays strong.
What did you think of the Referee cam being tried again for Summerslam? What did you think of Rollins taking it off and getting rid of it? Should WWE keep using it or put it back on the shelf?
I thought it was interesting. I am not sold one way or another on it. I need to see more.
