Tonight, Johnson appeared dancing as part of a presentation at Disney's D23 Celebration, the company's bi-annual pop culture gathering, leading to the unveiling of the official trainer for the forthcoming Moana 2, which will see Johnson return to voice Maui:

A live-action version of the original Moana is also planned by Disney with Johnson playing a live-action version of Maui. That film will began shooting this month for a 2026 theatrical release.
