I saw the anniversary of ECW's Born To Be Wired is this week. How did ECW get away with that match and did they ever do a rematch?
That was the last barbed wire match ECW ever did as even Paul Heyman felt it wouldn't be topped and pushed it was too extreme for even ECW in the VHS commercials for the show. The barbed wire was legitimate and Terry Funk and Sabu became entangled, so they had to improvise a finish with Sabu winning way before the final spots. It was a sight to behold live and probably still is via the footage.
Any updates on Dark Side of the Ring? Any topics you'd like to see?
Nothing new, except they were setting up some interviews about different topics. I know they were working on Billy Jack Haynes as a top for the next season. There was some talk of Dennis Coralluzzo and Ludivg Borga, but I don't know they have actually done work on them. I'd like to see them do one on the Memphis vs. ICW feud and perhaps one on the late Eddie Gilbert.
Whatever happened to Ian Rotten?
Rotten recently announced he needs several discs in his back fused, obviously due to all the damage he did to himself doing the crazy bumps and style that he worked in ECW and IWA Mid-South. Our best to him and his family.
How can I track down the old Marvel WCW series? Are they reprinted? I'd like to find them to get them signed by talents at some upcoming conventions.
I don't believe they have ever been reprinted or collected in a trade paperback. They would likely have to get the rights to do so from TKO, which now owns WWE, which would own the WCW rights. My advice would be to use Ebay or call around to some local comic book stores that specialize in back issues. Given the fact this isn't a series that has a big footprint on the secondark market, Ebay may be the smartest bet.
MLW is advertising Tom Lawlor vs. Paul Walter Hauser for Saturday's broadcast. Was this taped at the last event in Florida?
No. We are told it was taped behind closed doors at a MMA facility.
