The Rock, John Cena and Bautista sounds like a dream WrestleMania triple threat match for fans with a taste for some vintage action.
Of course, the trio is now known as much for their acting work as their wrestling abilities – Cena confirming that he will retire from WWE in 2025, with Bautista already hanging up his tights back in 2019.
So we may never see them lock horns in the ring again; their next battles, it seems, will be in the race to win awards for their various film and TV acting roles…
You may or may not know that some sports betting sites offer odds for the most important TV and film awards shows, such as the Oscars, Emmys and so on.
And a betting calculator confirms that a £40 bet on The Bear to win the Emmy Award for Best Outstanding Series would return just £10 in profit should the show prevail – confirming just how strong a favourite it is.
The Bear, set in the chaotic world of catering and fine dining, features a returning cast and a host of ensemble guest stars – amongst them Cena, who played Sammy Fak in a single episode in the multiple-award nominated third series.
To get to work with a team whose performances you enjoy as a fan makes the experience even more rewarding. A huge thank you to Chris Storer and the entire cast and crew of @TheBearFX for letting me be a part of “service!”

It was a role that allowed Cena to flex his comedic muscle, introducing the concept of ‘haunting’ – that is, a long running campaign of pranks and misdeeds against another member of the titular Fak family. The ‘Doctor of Thuganomics’ also takes his turn buffing up the floors of The Bear’s eponymously-named restaurant.
Cena’s acting career has been a mixed bag, to say the least, ranging from a cameo turn in the Oscar nominated Barbie to a lead role in the rather less well-received Ricky Stanicky.
He will return to WWE in 2025 as part of a farewell tour, perhaps culminating in one last match at WrestleMania or Summerslam.
Beauty from the Beast
Dwayne Johnson’s acting career has been hugely successful, which made his return to WWE as The Rock early in 2024 something of a surprise – the 52-year-old drawing plaudits for his part in the feud between the Bloodline and Cody Rhodes.
Ironically, one of his best-loved acting performances comes a vocal talent in the franchise Moana, with the second release in the franchise expected to do rather well when it’s released in cinemas in November.
So much so, it’s a contender to be the highest grossing film of 2024 – an accolade on which punters can also bet. Moana 2 currently sits in third place in the market, behind Inside Out 2 (4/6) and Deadpool 3 (6/5).
No stranger to comedic acting work is Dave Bautista, who has played the perpetually confused Drax in all three installments of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

But it’s his dramatic roles for which Bautista has drawn the best reviews, from Sapper Morton in Blade Runner 2049 to Beast Rabban in the brooding Dune franchise.
And Dune 2 could net Bautista one of the most sought-after prizes in acting – a Best Picture win at the Oscars, with the Denis Villeneuve film the current 9/4 favourite to take the victory ahead of Sing Sing (4/1).
Although Bautista is unlikely to wrestle again, we will surely see Cena and Johnson return to WWE later this year or in 2025. But will they be award-winning actors when they return to the squared circle?
