Just curious if you’d seen and had thoughts on Logan Paul’s Olympic boxing tweet. I don’t know much about the boxer other than she was cleared to compete and has never come out as trans or intersex. Do you think he’ll face professional backlash as at the very least his tweet reeks of otherism.
I did see it and things like that are exactly why I said WWE should get the US Title off of Paul. He and his brother are polarizing figures. That's fine for their own personal business. But WWE wants to market to everyone so getting political, or calling a woman a man like a dunce would, isn't the brightest thing to do for a WWE wrestler in my opinion. It limits who will buy your merchandise. I know that Dana White is part of TKO and the McMahons were openly conservative, but it feels different to me when it's a wrestler.
Do you think The Spear is overused?
I am not sure that it is but it’s getting close, for sure. If the goal is to keep it a semi-finisher, it should be used less frequently. If not, it will become a transition spot.
Since coming back last month, Seth Rollins has had only one match and now he’s a referee for CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre. I don’t know what he’s been doing on Live events, but with the less frequent amount of wrestling, does this mean Seth is now on a Tribal Chief schedule? There’s nothing wrong with it, if so. He’s earned it.
I don’t think so at all. I think it’s all about WWE being smart with its older talents. If they can put them in a storyline that doesn’t require as much abuse to their bodies, especially coming back from injury, it’s a smart move to make. WWE has so many over talents right now, due to their strong booking, they are in a position where they don’t have to rush things.
Is the Bloodline a better stable than the nWo ever was? nWo might’ve had bigger stars in its creation and they sparked one of the hottest times in wrestling history. But WWE might be just as hot right now, and The Bloodline has made biggest stars coming out of the group, (Sami Zayn, Solo, Jey Uso). Both groups got the status of being “cool heels” but fans actually root for the babyfaces against the Bloodline. And The Bloodline’s infighting is better than the nWo’s infighting. So has the Bloodline surpassed the nWo?
To me, The Bloodline is the better storyline because it’s BEEN a storyline that builds and grows. It is constantly moving forward and building. That wasn’t the case with The nWo.
Do you remember last year’s Blood and Guts where the fans chanted “We Want Fire?” What do you think of that when considering this year’s Blood and Guts had Darby Allin threatening to set Jack Perry afire, and the Anarchy Arena match where Darby actually did to Perry?
I think AEW is catering to a consistently smaller and smaller audience and it’s not good for their overall business. AEW has to resort to gimmicks and giving away their best matches because their character development and storytelling is abysmal. And as we saw last week, when the gimmicks go away, so do a whole lot of viewers. And even with the gimmicks, they couldn’t break 800,000 viewers. The foundation of AEW is broken and needs to be fixed if they are to be anything more than what they are now. Maybe Tony Khan doesn’t want it to improve. If not, it will stay what it is.
