Bill Apter announced the passing of Pete Sanchez, who worked as an enhancement talent for the WWWF and WWF and worked for Stampede Wrestling under the ring name Gino Caruso. The circumstances of Sanchez's passing are not known at this time.
In the WWWF, Sanchez may be most famous for being the first person Ric Flair ever wrestled in Madison Square Garden. He and Manuel Soto teamed as The Flying Tigers but Sanchez was most well known for being an undercard talent, putting over heels coming into the territory.
In Stampede as Caruso, he won the promotion's Internationnal Tag Team Championship with Carlos Belafonte, aka WWE Hall of Famer Carlos Colon. That opened the door for Colon's WWC in Puerto Rico. He also held the belts with Bill Cody.
Sanchez wrestled through the early 1990s.
