THE U.S. OLYMPIC COMMITTEE SUING LOGAN PAUL'S PRIME DRINK COMPANY

By Mike Johnson on 2024-07-23 10:02:00

The New York Times reported today that The United States Olympic Committee is suing WWE star Logan Paul's PRIME Energy drink before The U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado for allegedly using trademarked terms including “Olympic” and “Team USA” to promote one of their sports drink.  According to the article, Coca-Cola has paid for those rights and Paul's company is infringing on those terms.

The article states:

"The lawsuit seeks all of the profits that Prime derived from products that infringed on Olympic trademarks as well as “millions of dollars” in damages to be determined at trial.

The suit points in particular to a Prime Hydration drink that features Kevin Durant, the star forward for the Phoenix Suns who is trying to win his fourth gold medal this summer as a member of the U.S. Olympic basketball team.

The packaging, online ads and promotions for the drink featuring Mr. Durant use the words Olympic, Olympian, Team USA and Going for Gold, which are all trademarks owned by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee, the lawsuit says."

The article notes that they contacted Prime on 7/10 asking them to cease but the allegedly infringing drinks were still shipped to stores.

Paul's company, Prime, did not return a request for comment when contacted by The Times.
