7/20 NJPW G1 CLIMAX RESULTS FROM OSAKA, JAPAN

From Osaka, Japan:

There is a big crowd in Osaka and the arena looks full.

A new chapter in the history of New Japan Pro Wrestling begins today with the G1 Climax 34.

1 - Boltin Oleg vs. Ren Narita

Oleg comes to the ring in new blue tights representing his country of Kazakhstan.  Tough position for Oleg to be in the opening match.

Narita attacked the left arm and kept going for arm submissions.   Oleg countered with his power.   

Oleg hits an F5 then follows with a Kamikaze.

Oleg pins Narita.

Boltin Oleg earns 2 points.

Oleg looks great in his G1 debut.

2 - Shota Umino vs. Callum Newman

Solid match.  Both men matched up well.  Newman hit a springboard double stomp and hit an Oscutter.

Newman pins Umino

Callum Newman has 2 points.

Umino needed assistance to the locker.  He is still banged up from recent injuries.

3 - El Phantasmo vs. HENARE

ELP was acting lethargic after losing the IWGP Tag Championship recently.  

HENARE was stiff with his shots.  ELP fights back slowly.  ELP hits Sudden Death.  Two count.   ELP hits a Burning Hammer and Thunderkiss 86.  Two count.  HENARE with a Samoan Drop and a Rampage.  Two count. 

HENARE hits Streets of Rage and gets the pin.

HENARE gets 2 points.

4 - Great O-Khan vs. Zack Sabre Jr.

They both go to the floor and fight into the crowd.  They wrestle and grapple into the fans.  The referee begins the count.  Both men make it back to the ring.   They continue to grapple.  O-Khan goes for an Eliminator but ZSJ counters into a Zack Driver.

ZSJ pins O-Khan

Zack Sabre Jr has 2 points

5 - Hirooki Goto vs. Jeff Cobb

Stiff match between these two men.   Goto was able to hit his moves on the bigger man.   But Cobb lifted Goto into a vertical suplex and dropped him into a Tour of Islands.  Wow!

Cobb pins Goto.

Jeff Cobb gets 2 points.

6 - Jake Lee vs. SANADA

Lee hits a chokeslam.  SANADA with a Magic Screw.   They exchange counters.  Lee hits a Facebreak Shot.

Lee pins SANADA.   

Jake Lee earns 2 points.

7 - Yuya Uemura vs. David Finlay

 Finlay takes the match to the floor and Uemura gets thrown into guardrails.   Finlay attacks Uemura’s back.  Uemura fights back with a plancha to the floor.   They start trading moves and strikes.  Finlay with a Dominator.  Two count.    They trade more strikes.   Finlay hits a lariat and two buckle bombs.  Finlay goes for a third but Uemura rolls him into a cradle.

Uemura pins Finlay

Yuya Uemura earns 2 points.

More importantly, Uemura pinned the Global Heavyweight Champion.   Big win for Uemura.

8 - Gabe Kidd vs. EVIL 

Kidd hits a flying attack to EVIL.  Kidd beats up Togo.   EVIL and Kidd fight into the crowd.  Kidd is fighting like a madman.    EVIL blasts Kidd in the head with a couple of chair shots.  Back in the ring, they trade strikes.  They trade lariats and reversals.  Both men exhausted.  Kidd has avoided EVIL’s tricks.   They brawl and Kidd throws the referee out of the ring.

Togo jumps in the ring and chokes Kidd.  EVIL and Togo hit a Magic Killer.  EVIL finishes it with Everything is Evil.

EVIL pins Kidd.

EVIL earns 2 points.

9 - Yota Tsuji vs. Konosuke Takeshita

 Takeshita had control of the match early.  Tsuji hit a double stomp.   Tsuji with a hurricanrana.  Tsuji rallies with a backbreaker and a stomp.  They battle over a suplex.  Takeshita hits a brainbuster.  Takeshita with a high knee and a German suplex.   Two count.  Tsuji with a Spanish Fly.  Two count.  Tsuji misses a Gene Blaster.  Takeshita with a Poisonrana.  Tsuji with a Falcon Arrow.

Both men are down.  They trade strikes.  Tsuji hits a wicked headbutt and a Malo Crash.  Takeshita kicks out at two.   Takeshita hits a Power Drive Knee and a Blue Thunder Bomb.  Takeshita hits a Raging Fire.

Takeshita pins Tsuji.

Konosuke Takeshita earns 2 points.

10 - Tetsuya Naito vs. Shingo Takagi

Great match.   Naito worked over Takagi’s neck.  Takagi fought back with strikes.  Both men had a fun stiff match.   

Takagi blocked a Destino.   Takagi hit an Takagi Driver 98.   Takagi hits Last of the Dragon.

Takagi pins Naito

Shingo Takagi earns 2 points.   And he has pinned the World Heavyweight Champion.
